20 Chapter 20

I heard the sound of armor and boots marching towards me from a distance. I stopped and looked up towards the hill. A single arrow hit the floor beside me. I jumped back and composed myself. I squinted my eyes to see past the sun that blocked my view. Was that General Wilhelm? It sure looks like him. He took a step forward down the side of the hill now coming into my vision. It was him...

He was backed by what looked like the remaining soldiers all now drawing their bows as Wilhelm raised his hand above his head... He lowered his arm in one swift motion sending about 80 arrows flying towards me. I walked towards them as I lowered my sword to show I am not a threat to them. The arrows hit the floor in a perfect line in the place where I was previously stood.

I took a few more steps forwards before he pointed towards me and two men ran at me with spears aimed towards me. I grabbed both spears and held them in place as they struggled to try to free the spears from my grip. They gave up and decided to draw their swords instead. One of them swung their sword from behind their head as the other came from behind me to attack me. The first one brought his sword down in a slashing motion. I dodged his attack, slicing open the guy behind me. His intestines fell out of his body and splashed on the floor with a puddle of blood. He stood for a moment with his guts laying on the floor but bled out in seconds dying before his body hit the floor.

The other guy dropped to his knees as he had killed his friend and started to weep. Wilhelm halted his soldiers by waving his hand and came out to face me alone.

"How dare you deceive the king!!!"

"Deceive? How did I deceive anyone?"

"You're a monster!" He said as he swung his sword towards me narrowly missing my face. I jumped back causing more blood to poor from my chest. The wound reopened causing air to rush into my lungs making me cough up my blood.

A slight whistling sound came from the sky as I dodged another attack. I looked up to see a single arrow falling from the sky. I closed my eyes before the impact. All I could hear was silence. I opened my eyes but my vision was blurred by a black mist rising from my chest. Had time stopped? There was no wind and Wilhelm was still mid swing of his sword but he didn't move.

The black mist had become thicker and my chest felt cold. There was movement inside my body as I heard crunching sounds like bones being crushed. My whole body started to feel warm as my arm came up to shoulder height and reached out in front of me.

What was happening!? I couldn't control my body. No matter how hard I tried to move I couldn't.

The black mist formed into a ball in my hand and started to flicker like a flame and raced frontwards hitting Wilhelm in the chest. But there was no impact. It passed right through him. It suddenly came to a stop about two hundred meters in front of me. It slowly started to expand becoming mist once again and filled the battlefield with darkness. It grew and grew until it became with a meter of me. I could no longer see Wilhelm anymore. There was just the tip of a sword sticking out of a solid wall of darkness.

And just like it appeared it shrunk down into a ball and entered my chest once again. The mist started to rise from me as I felt sharp pains all over my ribs. But it just suddenly stopped. The mist blocked my view once more and faded into the air.

All the people that were once in front of me were gone... What had happened? I could now hear the wind again. I looked up towards the clouds and notice there was a perfect circle in the sky allowing sunlight to beam down. I followed the light down to the grown with my eyes. Where had the snow gone? The ground was no longer white... There was no snow, dirt or grass.

The ground had become black. Like it had been scorched. I couldn't sense any living things. It was peaceful. I felt a chill on my chest. I looked down. My wound had gone! There was no blood or anything the only remaining evidence was the hole in my shirt where I had been stabbed. I patted my self down to access my injuries. I felt my ribs. There was no pain at all and they were no longer broken. How is this possible? My head hurt a bit so I put my hand on it to soothe the pain.

I felt two hard bone-like spikes in my head. I began to panic but remembered that I am a demon. I focused on them like I was taught and suddenly a pressure inside me was released. I fell to the floor. The snow was cold but it was also soft. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I woke as a cold breeze blew over my body. I took a moment to come to my senses as a drop of rain hit my cheek. Within a few seconds, it was pouring with rain. I stood up and ran to the tree line to take shelter from the rain.

I looked around for a tree with leaves but it was winter here. There was no shelter insight until I noticed a mound of grass that stuck up about 4 feet. On further inspection, I noticed it was actually a cave. I entered to avoid getting drenched in rain. The floor had a layer of ice that was hard to walk on.

It was warm and dry but there was a slight breeze coming from behind me. But for there to be a breeze inside a cave that would have to mean...

I used fire magic to hold a flame above my hand so I could get a better view as the moonlight wasn't enough. And sure enough, there was an opening in deeper in the cave that was tall enough for me to walk through. I entered with the flame guiding me.

I slipped on the ice a few times until after about five minutes of walking the ice had turned to water and was flowing into the darkness of the tunnel. I followed the water and after about an hour after walking I began to see light. It was the exit... I ran towards it as fast as I could. As I reached the edge of the tunnel the light blinded me for a moment because of being in the dark for so long.

Light flooded into my eyes as I could now see my surrounding. I was on the edge of a mountain looking into a gigantic city with huge stone walls surrounding it. There was what looked like a castle.

As I was looking into the city a shadow moved over me and cast the side of the mountain into darkness...

I looked at the sky and three huge dragons flew over me... Dragons!!! This was the first time I had seen dragons it made me kind of nervous. They flew down to the city and landed next to where the castle was.

I ran down the mountain as fast as I could and ran towards the city gates...
