16 Chapter 16

Zyndrig... A powerful demonic dragon that has wiped out countless villages and killed many heroes throughout the ages. Then it just simply disappeared out of nowhere. Well, that is what I read in the palace library. It seems pretty interesting but how can a dragon disappear? It probably died right?

"Yuki. What are you doing?" Scarlet came into the room and sat beside me.

"Oh, Just some research..."

"Research? That's unlike you... What are you researching?"

"Um, Just a name I heard somewhere."

"Where did you hear it?"

"Well, I am not too sure. It just came to mind this morning..."

But more importantly What happened the other day? Did I get teleported? Or was it a dream? I don't know it's all kind of hazy I don't remember much apart from being in a bed with unfamiliar things all around me.....

"What does this dragon have to do with a name?"

"Honestly I am not too sure but that's the name. Zyndrig... And the only thing I could find was this dragon?"

"Hmm.... Wait I have an Idea! Stay here."

"Ok sure..."

Scarlet took off running out of the library. Just what could she be thinking?

I looked at the shelf in front of me a silver covered book stuck out from the rest. It was like it was calling me over to it. It started to glow as I reached out towards it.

"I wouldn't do that if I was you." Someone called from the doorway.

"Huh?" I turned around.

"Yuki I thought Risa might be able to help us." Scarlet entered the room holding a book.

"I see you found the book..." Risa interrupted.

"What do you mean?"

"That silver book you were just about to grab. It holds the information you are seeking."

"It does?" I reached out towards it.

The whole room was engulfed by wind as I felt something clamp down on my wrist.

"I thought I told you not to... Are you completely stupid?" Risa had appeared in front of me and was holding my arm in place.

"But you said it was what I was looking for."

"Ugh... Just as I thought you are an idiot... If you touch it now you would simply be killed."

"I would be killed? What do you mean?"

"I already told you didn't I? That is a demonic book... If a human touches it, they will die....Hold on... Or was that someone else?..." She picked up the book and placed it on the table.

"Wait! You just said if you touch it you die right? So how did you?"

"Don't you listen? I said if a human touches it..."

Scarlet jumped out and pulled Risa's hair revealing pointed ears... "Look Risa is actually an elf."

"Hey stop..." Risa looked down and began to open the book. She opened to the first page. There was just a single line written across the top. Grimoire of The North Star. At the bottom of the page, there was a small black circle. It looked almost like a gemstone. Risa pressed her finger against it and a small bolt of lightning emerged.

"Ouch! So you still won't accept me huh?"

"What was that?"

"It is a magic barrier that keeps people from reading the pages..."

"So you have to break the barrier to read it?"

"In theory yes. But there isn't anyone alive who is powerful enough to break a barrier this strong."

"Let me have a try." I grabbed the book and threw it in the air before punching the black stone. The book flew back smashing into the wall."

"You idiot!" Risa yelled before standing up and pointing her hands towards me.

"Heal!" A yellow light emerged from her hand and hit me. It stung a little.

"Hey what are you doing?"

"WHAT!!! You're not dying!?"

"I don't think so?"

"But that would have to mean your not a human! What are you?"

"Did I forget to tell you Yuki is a demon?" Scarlet sat back with a huge grin on her face.

"I'm a demon?"

"You're saying you forgot?"

"Actually I never knew..."

"But what about everything that happened at school?"

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

Risa interrupted by placing her hand on my back. "Status..." A thin blue plate appeared from my back and floated in the air.

"What is this!" She screamed before forcing me to look at it.

"Woah it changed..."

"What do you mean it changed?"

"Well, when the knight did it my race was human."

"The knight?"

"Um. Her name was Mia I think..."

"Oh, that knight..." She turned to face the guard at the door and pointed at him. "You there! Bring me, Captain Mia!"

The guard jumped before responding "Yes Miss..." He ran out of the door in a hurry.

"Risa you can't just order the guards around like that!" Scarlet stood up in objection.

"Why not? They listen don't they?"

"She has a point..."

Before we could discuss it anymore the guard came back out of breath.

"She is here miss..."

Mia entered with a pissed off look. "I should have known it was you by how terrified the guard was..."

"I see you're as charming as ever....." Risa responded with a smirk

"So what do you want?"

"Come take a look at this." She pointed to my status.

Mia walked over and looked at it. "But how? I remember it said human last time...."

"I see so he wasn't lying..."

"You thought I was lying?"

"Well, I couldn't rule out the possibility."

Well, thanks for the trust... Honestly, though I can't blame her. After all, she knows me as much as I know her which is not very much at all.

"Is this all you wanted?" Mia spoke as if she had somewhere to be.

"Yeah, you're dismissed now go."

"don't speak down to me." She said before leaving

I would wonder why they don't get along but if someone spoke to me like that I wouldn't get along with them very well either.

"Now Yuki....."

"Yes?"

"Give me your blood."

"What!? Why would I?"

Before I could react she bit my neck. I tried to pull back but my body was frozen... My heart was racing it felt like I was being drained.

"STOP! He's mine!"

Risa stopped and took a step back whilst wiping her lips. "Oh, so the princess has found love?" She let out a laugh. "don't worry I won't get in your way... For now." She vanished as the room was filled with a huge blast of wind.

Something tells me she isn't an elf...
