14 Chapter 14
_________________________________________________________
We finished up breakfast with awkward silence and decided to head out to avoid the stares of the remaining people in the room. Probably a good choice in all honesty.
The carriage was waiting outside the palace doors. It was the same carriage the king was in that one time. The majestic gold trims made it sparkle in the light. It was a fitting mode of transport for royalty. But if anything it would make my job harder. How am I supposed to protect someone if crowds form where ever she goes.
Aria noticed I something was on my mind.
"Yuki what's wrong?"
"Well I was just thinking wouldn't it be easier to just ditch the carriage once we are in the city?"
"That might be a good idea... I guess the carriage does draw too much attention."
We arrived on the edge of the noble district before exiting the carriage and telling the driver to return to the palace.
We walked around the city center for a while just taking in the sights. They ranged from huge ivory arches all the way to a giant water fountain. It was a much more beautiful place in the day. Before finally, I grew hungry again.
"Hey, so do you know any places we can get food?"
"How am I supposed to know it's my first time here also..."
"Sorry I guess it slipped my mind. I guess we could just ask someone."
There was a storefront facing us with a glass window with opal pendants and other jewelry. (Mythic Elites) What a stupid name for a shop... Nevermind that maybe they know of a good place to get food. We walked open and pushed the door open to a light sound of a bell chiming on command as the door swept past it.
Aside from the jewelry, the shop looked pretty bland. It looked almost like a library. Someone came from the back of the store.
"Welcome to Mythic Elites. How can I help you?"
A young blonde women came into sight from the darkness of the doorway.
"We were just wondering if you knew any good spots to get lunch?"
"Ohh you were? That information doesn't come free you know."
"Are you serious?...."
"I sure am... Magic stores aren't as popular as they used to be. I have to make a living you know."
"Fine, what do you sell."
"We sell all sorts. Magic books to Teleportation crystals."
"Fine, I will take a magic book." I noticed a small black box on the counter. It looked like it was stone. Maybe obsidian Maybe?
"Hey what's this?"
"Ohh that." She opened the box to reveal two black rings. "They are just a set of enchanted rings. If you wear one of the rings it allows you to know the exact location of the other ring... If I'm correct they are the only thing ever made that could do that. So I will say... Hmmm... 43 gold." She smirked after setting the price as she thought it was enough to stop me from buying it.
"Fine, I will take them. So where is a good place to eat?"
Her jaw dropped before she regained her composure. "If you head left after leaving the store go down the hill and to your right there will be a tavern. It's nothing fancy but the food is pretty good."
"Thanks for the help..." I reached into my pocket and pulled out a platinum coin and slid it across the counter before taking my new items and leaving.
She didn't react but just stood there in shock looking at the coin.
"Are you brain dead or something!!?" Aria screamed whilst poking me in the chest.
"Wait what do you mean?"
"You gave that girl way too much money! No normal person carries platinum coins with them..."
"But that's all I have..."
"You're useless. Come on let's go." She grabbed my hand and pulled me up the hill to the center of the city.
"But wait this is the wrong way. The tavern is back there..."
"We are not going to the tavern yet!" She said as we entered a huge building with pillars holding it up.
It was a huge room but it was empty. The only things in it was a single counter at one side. It wasn't a normal counter though it had bars on top stretching to the ceiling. And a single man sat behind it.
"Hello, how can I help you?" He spoke up as we approached the counter.
"Hello. We would like to open an account please."
"Ok, we can do that for you. That will be one silver coin please."
Aria Handed over a silver coin and he handed her a form. Aria gave the form to me and told me to fill it in.

I handed him the form and he inspected it for a moment.
"Ohh Sir I am sorry. I failed to realize you are royalty."
"Wait I'm not...."
Aria poked me in the side.
"Yes, that's right. He will one day be a king."
"Wait, what? Aria!" I whispered to her.
She just smiled up at me before the man spoke again.
"Sir here you go." He handed me a small rectangular metal plate with my name engraved into it. "This is your proof of owning an account. If you would like to withdraw or make a deposit then you can hand this to any banker and it will prove who you are. You can also exchange any currency"
"Ok, in that case, could I exchange this?" I handed him a platinum coin.
"Certainly Sir but I have to inform you we do take a 2.5% sum from any amount over 1 gold coin"
"That's fine."
"Ok, then your account balance is now 97 gold coins and 50 silver coins. Would you like anything else?"
"Actually could I withdraw 25 gold coins?"
"Certainly sir just sign this to prove that you requested a withdrawal." He handed me a small piece of paper.
I signed it and handed it back.
"Then here you go, Sir." He counted out 25 gold coins and placed them on the counter.
I took them and placed them in my pocket and left.
"Please come again!" He shouted as we left the building.
We left and headed toward the tavern for lunch.
As we entered a soothing aroma came from inside. That must be the food. It smells delicious. We entered a dimly lit room filled with rough looking men drinking and chatting. Aria approached the counter.
"Hello, could we have a table and a menu please?"
"Of course please follow me." A woman came out from behind the bar. She looked like she was in her mid-twenties with black hair and orange eyes. She also had two brown ears that fell over each side of her head. Was she like Illya?
We ordered our food and soon after two delicious looking steaks arrived. And they tasted just like the looked. Delicious! We settled the bill at 50 bronze coins and left.
As we left the door opened again behind us.
"Hey, that girl looks familiar doesn't she."
"Yes and look at the clothes she's wearing. I bet she is rich."
"Hey miss why don't you come with us for a minute?" A rough looking man stuck his hand out towards Aria.
My body moved without my say. I grabbed his arm and squeezed. There was a crunching sound followed by a howling scream as blood gathered in a puddle beneath him.
"Guys Kill him!!"
I was surrounded by at least ten men who all looked like bandits. My mind was suddenly flooded with a female voice "Master let me deal with them." A huge flash of blue light erupted from my arm blinding everyone in sight. And just as fast as the light had appeared it was followed by a huge tiger with white stripes and blue eyes.
"He's one of those freaks!" A few of the men screamed before helping up their friend and running away.
The Tiger turned to face me and lay down at my feet...
