"Hmm… That should do it." Aldrin watched as Janet's figure disappeared in the dark of the night. "A fortuitous encounter hidden within an unknown dimension."
Naturally, Janet wouldn't believe it to be 100% true. But as it was something she couldn't verify. The woman took him on his words while reminding him to keep an eye on the girl. As for Janet's curiosity about his method to enter the same dimension, she held her tongue.
The relationship of close-to-siblings between her and Aldrin had already been cemented ever since he asked her for her help in enacting his foolish challenge. Asking her to swear earlier was just for formality.
After waiting for a few minutes, Aldrin didn't return immediately to Irina.
Instead, he accessed the IDLE Database through his phone.
[IDLE Points: 268,993/810,000]
[Essence: 3,359/6,000]
He used 127,000 for the multiplier and the opening of the hidden dimension. And 50,000 to expand the IDLE Points storage. The Dimensional Clones were still hunting somewhere nearby, accumulating more points.
"It's not midnight yet and I will probably only get around 300,000 after harvesting 400,000 earlier. Raising to 100 Hunters wasn't plausible yet so I better put the remaining points to other uses such as adding another Dimensional Clones and upgrading the level of their equipment. At least, I'll make it uniform and push all of their equipment to Level 5 except the Back Guard."
That would cost him a lot but by doing so, his Dimensional Clones could unlock more Skills. Right. It was another point drain but it would be all worth it to use in actual combat. His Dimensional Clones would be more formidable, add to that, their Metadomes were a tier higher than his Standard one. He could just stay behind and direct them when the time comes.
"I should also prepare a Metadome and Battlesuit for the new Dimensional Clone… But what role should I give to it? With the flexibility of changing weapons… I guess it doesn't matter anymore, I'll use them according to the situation."
Having decided that, Aldrin started with upgrading the four Dimensional Clones equipment to Level 5. As it were, only one of eight upgradable equipment was at Level 5 for each of them. Everything except the Back Guard was at Level 4. That's why Aldrin watched as 150,000 IDLE Points were spent just like that followed by system messages telling him about the prerequisites of the Skills being met.
They're mostly defensive and auxiliary skills such as Defense Enhancement, Dash and Counter. The other offensive Skills needed specific weapon types and Aldrin felt no need to get them easily.
As for the fifth Dimensional Clone, he put that off for midnight.
He still had other things to confirm, after all.
[You bought Cosmic Bestiary for 50,000 IDLE Points]
"Cosmic Bestiary is one of the only two books that was filtered when I searched for that blue fluffy creature. It's a Bestiary filled with records of different dimensional creatures. The other book is called The Elusive Cosmic Beast – Sapphial and its price is twenty times of the first book."
That's expensive. Aldrin knew that it should be the one to buy for more information, but he lacked the funds for it. Besides, the Cosmic Bestiary would surely contain more information about other dimensional creatures. It's well worth the money to be informed even if it's just a basic understanding of every unusual beast he would encounter.
"Here it is. Sapphial."
Using the other book as a reference, he quickly scanned the contents of the Cosmic Bestiary stored in his mind and searched for that name.
Sapphial is a rare dimensional creature known for its vibrant blue color and fluffy appearance. Their dark-blue eyes can captivate even someone with high mental strength in mere seconds. According to the few sightings, they often attach themselves to someone or something that can protect them from harm. Their actual strength is unknown but more often than not, they won't attack needlessly and will escape once their protector was defeated. Dimensional Creatures they attached to were often solitary creatures, oftentimes, growing stronger than their perceived growth limit through unknown means. Most likely, Sapphial has something to do with it.
"The first lines clearly described it. But the rest of the information was only based on a few sightings… It's not that credible but it somehow clicked on what happened with Irina. There's also no confirmation that it's not controlling its protector or guardian… And lastly, the information about the miasma or a tiny dimension it can create was also not mentioned. Really, I have no choice but to continue observing her. And perhaps, interact with it…"
Aldrin cleared his mind and decided. Since even a 50,000-point book couldn't clear up his suspicion, he's going to observe it himself.

When Aldrin returned to the tent Irina was still awake but her focus was elsewhere. She's sitting cross-legged, the Dimensional Energy surrounding her gently revolving.
Aldrin didn't disturb the girl and just watched from the side, waiting for her to finish.
He could feel that without the multiplier, he would now be weaker than Irina, despite not having new Concepts.
'Yep. It's truly a fortuitous encounter for her. Much like how I came to possess the IDLE Database, this girl's luck brought her to meet the Sapphial.' Aldrin thought. It's not a point of jealousy for him.
If the one who saw her was not Aldrin, she'd probably be put under heavier suspicion.
And since it's unknown what else can the Sapphial do or how strong it is in the spectrum of dimensional creatures, it might even result in a disastrous event.
A few minutes later, Irina opened her eyes after exhaling a long breath. Upon seeing Aldrin waiting at the side, her lips naturally curved up into a smile.
"How was it? Did Janet… believe you?" She asked.
Aldrin didn't tell her where he was going but knowing their current situation, she accurately guessed it.
"Mhm. She did. However, we still have to be careful… By the way, where's the black miasma?"
"That? It's here." Irina pointed to her back and sure enough, it floated to her shoulder. But instead of its color from earlier. It took on a lighter color. It now appeared as though it was dense blue smoke. "Myul said I can enter that dimension anytime through this. Also, it's afraid of coming out."
"It said? How did you communicate with it?"
"Through this… Myul's voice is coming out of it at times and when I tried talking to it, it responded. It's the same question format though."
"That's…" Aldrin wanted to say 'ridiculous' but held back.
"Still suspicious? I get it. But I'll prove to you that you can trust me… Watch me." Irina's determined voice resonated in Aldrin's mind.
Despite all their talks and how he told himself that he's convinced that she's the same Irina, being cautious for the moment was simply in order. He could declare that it's for everyone's sake but since he's the only one who's aware, it's simply his own brand of selfishness.
"Mhm… I'm sorry it has to be like this." Aldrin apologized.
"Stop apologizing." Irina scolded him before giggling.
Irina should also have some questions for him but the girl decided not to pry on them. Perhaps it's her show of total trust to Aldrin or she's just waiting for the right time, the time when Aldrin dropped his suspicion.
A while later, the girl laid down with her back turned to him and started to rest for the night.
Seeing her that defenseless, Aldrin could only shake his head before lying down just the same. But instead of resting, he fiddled with his phone, waiting for midnight and a new day.
