137 King of the Area

Having convinced Irina, Aldrin made his move and operated his Metadome to jump and slowly slid down the cliff, assisted by the Maneuver Assistance module.

As it wasn't that high, he successfully landed on the moist ground in less than a minute, the legs of the Metadome burying a bit because of the momentum of his landfall.

With his gaze still locked on the minimap, he keenly observed his surroundings. Although it's still the same as what he saw from on top of the cliff, he noticed more notable details.

"There are no footprints of any dimensional creatures or any sign that someone or something ever wandered in this part." He muttered as he carefully extended his senses.

"Isn't that more suspicious? We can find another place to camp. Come back here." From the corner of his screen, Irina replied. Anxiety slightly filled her face.

"I'll keep my word to just scout this out. I need you to trust me in this, Irina…"

"Even so… Ugh. Alright, I won't be like a nagging girlfriend to remind you needlessly." She still wanted to rebut but changed her tone in the middle.

With a determined expression on her face, she just kept her eyes on Aldrin through the private channel that they kept open.

Well, she's adamant about watching over the process and Aldrin had no reason to cut it off and have the girl worry about him. That would just put his other plan awry. Irina wouldn't hesitate to follow him down the cliff had they lost connection.

"Mhm… You do know that I won't be foolish anymore. I learned my lesson." Aldrin smiled.

That's right. Even his plan to go solo wouldn't be a reckless one. He's aiming for it to be seen as a natural course of action if ever he managed to execute it.

He's done playing the fool after experiencing near-death against Carlos. He wouldn't just risk his life again if there was no guarantee that he would come out alive. He had prepared Essence Grenades, Allcure Elixirs and even the Essences needed to summon a Guardian Ant who could take the hit for him.

"Yeah. I remembered. Well then, we're watching over you. I let the others watch over our rear. That way, we can react instantly." Irina said while sending a live feed of her surroundings. Their team was the only ones remaining on the cliff while the other three positioned themselves in three different directions.

In any case, Aldrin knew that they'll be fine for a while since there are dimensional creatures detected around them through the IDLE Database's provided minimap. That's also one of the reasons why he suggested this place.

Even if he had some kind of selfish motive down the line for that plan, he wouldn't just leave them to die. He's their leader and he's sure that they trusted him a lot. No one complained about every order sent out, after all.

"Great job. I knew I could count on you. Well then, I'm going to scout."

Hearing praise from Aldrin, a smile naturally bloomed on Irina's face. She then uttered encouragement as she watched Aldrin move out from where he landed.

Having known that there was a dimensional creature inside the cave, Aldrin cautiously approached.

He even minimized the grating mechanical sounds of his Metadome.

Upon reaching at least fifty meters before the entrance of the cave, he once again surveyed his surroundings.

It's too quiet. Except for the sound of the flowing river as it rushed downstream and into the cave, no other sounds could be heard.

Neither bird nor small beasts could be heard nearby.

'It's common sense to think that something's wrong at this moment. Eerie silence with only one dimensional creature in hiding. It's definitely the king of this area… I faced the more terrifying Ant Champions in that Small Insect Colony and lost even with everything at my disposal. I certainly feel like a similar creature in strength will pop out here…'

With that thought in mind, Aldrin's Energy Quintessence churned and two Shadow Clones materialized from behind him.

While preparing himself for his eventual retreat, he sent the two inside the cave.

Fifty meters is a short distance to traverse especially for a hulking vehicle like his Metadome.

ROOOAAARRR!

As soon as the Shadow Clones disappeared inside the cave, a sudden beastly roar echoed.

And following that, a tremor was transmitted from inside the cave.

Upon hearing and feeling that, Aldrin retreated another fifty meters before trying to ascertain what's happening with his Shadow Clones inside the cave by seeing through their lenses.

"This is…"

That's all he could say as he watched the dimensional creature that the Shadow Clones were confronting. Since the IDLE Database was detached from him, he couldn't see the level of the beast.

Besides, it's dark. All he could see was its silhouette. A silhouette larger than a Dreadgnaw but smaller than the Giant Harbear. It's quadrupedal with its fur sharply standing like spikes.

A second later, one of the Shadow Clones dissipated into refined Energy Particles. And a few seconds after that, his vision was cut off.

"It's fast. Faster than the horde of green-spotted hyenas. However, if I compare it to the Ant Champions… it's at least on par with [Level 30 Ant Champion Ahab]. Yes. That's the feeling."

He muttered to himself while waiting for the next moment.

Irina was still watching him but seeing his serious expression, she held her breath and watched the situation unfold from on top of the clip.

Aldrin's wait didn't last long, as the tremors continued to rattle his surroundings, the black dimensional creature hiding inside the cave emerged.

ROOOAAARRR!

And another roar, this time, it traveled further than the last, making Irina and the ones on top of the cliff be alerted.

"Aldrin!" Irina shouted. Clearly, what she's trying to convey was to give his command for them to drop down and assist him.

"Not yet… However, do gather everyone, Irina. I'll leave it to you where you will place them in a formation. This one is different from the Harbear. It's an unidentified rift monster." After saying that, Aldrin shook his head and prepared himself. At the same time as that, he eyed the dimensional creature and let the IDLE Database do its job.

To identify it.
