20 Chapter 020 - Chinese New Year
Jie-Wai and Yi-Hou's departs for their trip a few days after it was decided. They will first go to the country where Emma's second older sister is currently living with her husbands. That way her sister can also show them around and help them a little bit. While those two are gone, it doesn't mean that Jie-Jun can have Emma all to himself. He has to do even more work since Jie-Wai isn't here and have to watch the farming business for him while he's away.
Summer ended and soon follows by fall and winter. In this country, there's no such thing as Christmas, but they do celebrate New Year. To Chinese people, New Year is a very big holiday. Jie-Wai and Yi-Hou made it back before the end of the year and can spend the new year with the family.
Last year, the Loki's didn't have that many new stores and businesses. Jie-Jun as the boss gave out red envelopes with money to all the employees. This year they have many new businesses and hired lots of new employees. Not only does Emma want to give out red envelopes but she also wants to give out extra bonuses to the hard-working employees to encourage the employees to work harder.

It's been seven months since Jie-Wai started the farming and gardening business. The results were better than expected and he has been working very hard. As a new boss, Emma had to remind him to prepare the red envelopes to give it his employees. Usually, Jie-Jun will prepare it for all the employees but since Jie-Wai is also an owner now, Emma thinks Jie-Wai should also prepare for it. She doesn't want him to just work, she also wants him to show others that he is also the boss.
When Emma was in the other world, she works lots of part-time jobs and some were Chinese employers. Since she's just a part-timer, during Chinese new year, she often gets a small red envelope from her boss. She works just as hard if not harder than others, so she finds it to be unfair. She vows that if she were ever going to be an employer, she would make it fair for all her employees.
The way she will do it now is going to be a little different than how Jie-Jun has been doing it before. She makes sure all employees get the same amount of money in the red envelopes. But for employees that are hard working and have been performing well all year round, she will give an extra bonus of the end of the year.
After telling her husbands about what she thinks, they have agreed with her idea. They think she's very generous already since lots of other employers don't even bother giving red envelopes to their employees for the new year here. And the extra bonus for the end of the year is also a very good idea, it will help to encourage the employees to work harder.

Inside of Yi-Hou's workplace, Emma has also prepared some red envelopes for him to give it to his helpers. Even though Jie-Jun hired them to help Yi-Hou's, but Yi-Hou is their direct supervisor and he will soon be married into the Loki family. He should also give out red envelopes to his helpers.
"No, I can't take your red envelopes to give." Yi-Hou pushes the red envelopes that Emma has prepared back to her. He didn't want to use her money and can give it to his men himself. Even though he never thought about it before and has no idea how much money to put in the red envelopes.
Emma understands his thinking but she has already prepared it. They are going to be a real family soon so she thinks it okay if he just takes it.
"It's okay since I have already prepared it. We are going to be a real family very soon so it's okay." She pushes the red envelopes back to him and continues to say, "I think we should set the official date two months after the new year. What do you think?"
"Hm...okay. But can we have it at my house?" Yi-Hou asked seriously.
It took Emma a few seconds to respond, she just remembered that Yi-Hou also has his own house in another country that was left behind by his deceased parents. He was living there for a few years before coming here.
Seeing her didn't reply back immediately, he thought she didn't want to go there.
"My parents' ancestral tablet is there." He added.
Emma knew he has misunderstood her for not wanting to have their wedding there.
"I understand. We can have our wedding there and have your parent's ancestral tablet there to witness our important day. I will prepare everything and invite the guests too. Is there anyone that you want to invite, you can write me a list."
"Only Auntie and her family," Yi-Hou said. He doesn't have any friends and her aunt who's also the Ding brothers' mother is his closest family. His father's side doesn't have many people left and they didn't want to have anything to do with him since his parents passed away.
"Okay, I understand. I will take care of everything and will also let your aunt know about it." Yi-Hou's aunt is also her mother in law. She has always treated him as her own son. Emma's heart aches for Yi-Hou, his parents have passed away soon after he was born. And due to his personality, he doesn't have any friends except for the Ding's brothers. She really wants to give him a real family and show him the love of a family. She didn't have any of these family love before too until she came to this world, so she wants Yi-Hou to also have it.
Emma left Yi-Hou's workplace and took a horse carriage to her in-law's mansion which is only two and a half hours away by horse carriage in a nearby town. When she got there, her in-laws was surprised by her sudden visit because the new year is in a few days. They expected her to come with her husbands at that time.
The servants brought her into the living room to see Madame Ding. It might be a coincidence, but Sofia is also there.
"Madame, young madam is here to see you." The servant said in front of the living room door.
Seeing Emma coming to visit her, Madame Ding is happy and surprised. Another person that is surprised to see Emma is her own mother, Sofia.
When Emma walks into the living, she was surprised by someone suddenly rushes to her and hug her. When that person released her, she finally gets to see who that person is. It's her own mother!
"Mother, what are you doing here?" Emma asked.
"Same thing why you are here. I'm here to see your mother in law and want to take her out shopping!" Sofia said excitingly, it's been a long time since she seen her daughter. Emma rarely comes to visit her so she's been lonely and has been visiting Madame Ding often since they are mahjong buddies now.
"Mother, it's good that you are here too. I need to talk to both of you regarding Yi-Hou and my wedding."
"What is it?" Madame Ding quickly asked. She's worried that Emma has changed her mind about marrying Yi-Hou since it's almost two years now. She was going to bring it up and ask her to set a date for the wedding when they come to visit during the new year.
"We have a discussion about it and want to set the date two months after the new year"
"That's wonderful!" Sofia immediately said.
"That's very good news! I'm glad you two have already decided the date." Madame Ding said as she lets out breathe out for relieve. Luckily, she's here to let her know the good news and not the bad one.
"Emma, you don't have to worry about anything, we will take care of all the preparation." Sofia happily said, she can't wait to prepare for a wedding again, it's going to be fun!
"Mother, Yi-Hou wants to have the wedding at his own house. He wants his parent's ancestral tablet to witness the wedding too. I also think it's a good idea so we will a wedding oversea. "
Madame Ding looks at Emma and said, "Yi-Hou's mother married his father at that same house back then. They had a nice western style wedding."
"Then that's what we going to have! A western style wedding!" Sofia said very excitingly. She originally comes from a western country but had a Chinese wedding when she got married. Since she didn't get to have a western-style wedding, she wants at least one of her daughter to have one. But her eldest daughter married into a Chinese family so she had a Chinese wedding. When her second daughter married overseas, she thought that she can finally prepare a western style wedding for her second daughter. But her second daughter preferred a Chinese wedding and her husbands thought that it's interesting to have a Chinese wedding. As for Emma, the Ding family is very traditional people. So they end up having a Chinese wedding since Emma is marrying their sons.
Finally, Emma is marrying again! This time, her husband is a mixed race and wants the wedding overseas. She can finally plan a western style wedding as she had dreamed of before. But even though she thinks that way, she still looks over at Madame Ding since Yi-Hou is still a part of the Ding family. She's worried that Madame Ding won't allow it. So she asked, "We can have a western-style wedding, right?"
Madame Ding looks at Emma and said, "as long as this is what Emma and Yi-Hou wants."
Emma already had a Chinese wedding before, she also wants a western style wedding. She's pretty sure that Yi-Hou would like to have a western style wedding that is similar to his parents.
"I would like a western style wedding since I already have a Chinese wedding before. Since Yi-Hou wants to have the wedding in his own house, I'm sure he would like to have a wedding that is similar to his parents."
"If that's the case then I'll prepare it with Sofia for you and Yi-Hou." Madame Ding said, she then suddenly thought of something and said, "I know Yi-Hou's mother wore his grandmother's western style dress for her wedding. The dress is still there at Yi-Hou's house. Do you want a new wedding dress? Or do you want to wear that one that belongs to his grandmother and mother?"
The reason Madame Ding ask Emma this is that she knows Yi-Hou will probably be happy if Emma wore that dress. Emma also thought the same way as Madame Ding when she heard her talks about that wedding dress. She doesn't know what it looks like and it's probably not her style since it's an old dress, but she will wear it if it means something to Yi-Hou.
"If you can find that dress, then I'll wear that dress. But umm, we might have to alter it a little because of the size and other things." Emma doesn't mind wearing that dress but she hopes she can change it a little just in case it's not to her liking.
Sofia knows what her daughter is thinking, she turns to Madame Ding and said, "we will take a look at the dress first and we alter it to fit her, right?"
Madame Ding looks back at Sofia, she also understands their thinking. "Yes, you don't have anything to worry about. We will go over there after the new year ends and start preparing for you two. So there should be enough time for us to make the arrangements."
"Oh that's right! I think the city where Yi-Hou's house is, it's not too far from the city where your second sister lives. Your second sister and her husbands' can attend your wedding this time!" Sofia said very excitingly, it's been a long time since she last saw her second daughter. This time she can go over there and stay for a long time to prepare for Emma's wedding and spend time with her second daughter. Her husbands' can't say anything about it, humph!
Seeing that these two mothers are so excited about the wedding and the preparation, she decides to leave it all to them. She discusses a little bit more about the details and left to go back home since it's getting late. She still has to prepare for the new year. Chinese new year has lots of things that need to be prepared.

It's getting a little late and it's will soon be dinnertime. The Ding brothers wonder why Emma still isn't home yet since she's always come back home first before they do.
Just as they are wondering about that, Emma has come home. She walks right into the living and sees her husbands there waiting for her. She also sees Yi-Hou sitting there too with a silly smile on his face. It's not often to see a smile like that on his face so it also puts a smile on her face too.
The Ding brothers also noticed that silly smile on Yi-Hou's face when they came home earlier. But when they ask him if something good has happened for him to smile like that, his reply is to ask Emma. Jie-Wai has no idea why he's so happy, Jie-Jun thinks he knows why. Emma has talked to him about it before so he can more or less guess what makes him that happy.
"Where did you go, Emma? It's getting late, let's go eat dinner first." Jie-Wai said while getting up from his seat.
"Before we have dinner, I want to say something first." Emma wants to let her husbands know about the wedding of her and Yi-Hou since it's already been decided. She then continues to say, "Yi-Hou and I have decided to set the wedding date to be two months after the wedding. I have just come back from mother in law's house to let her know and my mother just so happens to be there too."
Hearing this news, Jie-Jun and Jie-Wai are not surprised by it. They knew Emma and Yi-Hou will eventually get marry so they are mentally prepared for it. It really isn't much different than how they are living together right now except for Yi-Hou didn't get to sleep with Emma yet in her room.
Emma told them where and when the wedding will take place and also that the two mothers will prepare the wedding for them. Since the wedding is so far away, it will take 2 weeks to get there and another two weeks to come back here. They will have to take a minimum of a month or more off from work. Yi-Hou taking a month or two off is no big deal but Emma and the Ding brothers have tons of work to do. So Emma suggests that they should work hard to try to get more works done before leaving for the wedding, which they all agree.

Chinese New Year is finally here and everyone is celebrating the New Year. Businesses are busy and they are packed with customers especially the restaurant. Lots of employees requested to have the new year date off from work. During times like this, many businesses closed for at least a few days for the holidays. Emma doesn't like to force people to work so she suggests hiring temporary workers for the holidays with extra pay. Of course, workers that stay to work for the holidays also get pay extra. Hearing about this, all the workers are fighting to work on the New Year date for the extra money. And due to their stores still open for business during the holidays, while others are closed, their store made tons of money! Some other businesses seeing how well the Loki is doing, they also start copying them.
Emma and her husbands, along with Yi-Hou went to their parents' home to visit for the New Year. Madame Ding and Sofia will go overseas to the country where Yi-Hou's place is a week after the new year. They will leave behind their husbands since they have to work. But will meet up them about a week before the actual date for the wedding.
Emma and her family will also arrive there a week before the wedding. She trusted her mother in law and her own mother will be able to take care of the things over there for them. The upcoming months are going to be very busy for all of them but Emma is excited for what's to come!
