18 Chapter 018 - Yi-Hou's Weird Feeling
At breakfast the next morning, Emma told Jie-Jun about the new project for farming. She explains to him the pros and cons and that she wants Jie-Wai to be in charge of it since he knows things in this area. Jie-Jun has agreed and told them to feel free to do it the way they want and he will support them however he can.
Jie-Wai is beyond ecstatic, not only can he do something that he likes, but he also got the support from the people he loves. He will definitely work hard and show them the results.
Emma needs to write not one but two proposals now. One for the restaurant business and one for farming, she's going to be very busy, but she is happy to do it for her husbands. Of course, she didn't forget about Yi-Hou either. She also needs to draw the designs and explain it to Yi-Hou how to make the icebox and manual ice cream maker. With these two new things for him to make, she probably will have peace and quiet for a while. These two things aren't hard to make so she's not worried that Yi-Hou will keep coming to her to ask questions.
Just like that, the breakfast meeting is finished and everybody gets back to work. Everyone now has an important role here to do and are busy with their work. It only took Yi-Hou 2 days to make a prototype manually ice cream maker since Emma requested him to make this thing first. Since they have the icehouse already, they are not in a hurry to make the icebox. She only wants to make the icebox for convenience use.

A week later, the restaurant pushes out 2 new dishes and 2 new desserts. One of the cold dishes is a cold noodle and the other is a jellyfish dish. It might not sound like much, but there are different ways to prepare it. The cold noodle can be made with or without soup, depending on the customer, it can be prepared as mild or spicy with a side topping. The jellyfish usually have no taste, but with the right seasoning and sauce, it can be a very tasty dish. Both dishes have the option to be prepared with meat or make it into a vegetarian dish.
Since the ingredient varies depending on the customer, the price also varies. If the customer wants it plain or as vegetarian style, the price is a lot lower then if they add meat for topping. These two dishes are great for summertime to consume, but also great all year round. Once the customers have tried it, it has become an instant big hit. Even though it's two new dishes, but it can be considered more than that since it can be prepared in so many different ways. Of course, Emma knew people would start copying their dishes as soon as it gets popular, but she's not worried since it's hard to copy her secret sauce recipe. And she can come up with a lot more different dishes for the restaurant later on.
On the other hand, her two new desserts are not doing too well on the first day. The reason is that the customers don't know what it is and the price is a little expensive. The reason the price is expensive, it's because these desserts need to be kept in the icehouse. There is a limitation of space and it cost lots of money to import ice. The desserts are red bean milkshake and western style cake. The people have red bean cake, red bean soup, etc here before. They have never heard red bean milkshake since milk is not that commonly use here. As for the cakes, Asian and western style cakes are completely different. Asian style cakes are usually made with rice flours and are usually thick and heavy. While western style cake tenses to be lighter and use cream and fresh fruits as topping.
Emma already had her husbands and Yi-Hou tries it first before she decides to sell it in the restaurant. At first, her husbands are a little reluctant to try it too, but after tasting it, they can't get enough of it. Since these desserts need to be kept in the icehouse to chill, people need going in and out of the icehouse a lot. That would cause the ice to melt quicker so they will need to import more ice. To solve this problem, Emma had Yi-Hou made different sizes of icebox for storing food. To make the icebox is very simple, the icebox had hollow walls that were lined with tin or zinc and packed with various insulating materials such as cock, sawdust, straw or seaweed.
She had him made a big one that can be used at home and one for the restaurant. The one for the restaurant will be a little bigger and will store enough of the dessert that will be sold for that day. So these two desserts will be a limited time thing just for the summer. Afterward, Emma will move these two desserts to her specialty dessert store. She also had Yo-Hou made handheld size small iceboxes for easy carrying. That's because she wants to send these new desserts to her parents and her in-laws to try.
Of course, once her dessert becomes popular, she will push out these icebox for sell too. Many people can't afford to build an icehouse, but they can definitely buy an icebox to use. Since it comes in different sizes, people can buy the size they want that's within their budget. As for the manual ice cream maker, Emma only wants to use it to make ice cream for herself and her family to enjoy for now. She will slowly convert the Asian dessert in more western style for the customers to accept first before she pushes out more western stuff.
To get the people to try the new desserts, she gave out free samples to the customers for one day. And that's all she needs because the words got out fairly quickly after the customers have tried it, many came back just to eat the dessert. After the day that they offered the free sample, lots of people came back to try out these new desserts. Unfortunately, they only have a limit amount to sell for the day. But that didn't stop the customers from coming back the next morning to wait in line to buy it and it was sold out before noon.
Jie-Jun was speechless with the result, this is only for the two new desserts that were pushed out for sale. "Jie-Wai, you are not dreaming! How come you are so different when you deal with others at work and so different in private?" Emma just shakes her head helplessly. What happened to that man that looks so confident a few minutes ago?
"Emma, you are looking at the real me. I will never show you a fake side of me. My older brother taught me that when I'm working with others, I have to show confidence and have a strong look. Otherwise, people won't trust me and might even try to deceive me. It took me a long time to build up my confident front to face others. But once I'm home, I want to be myself and relax."
"I see. But I did see how well you handle your business today. I have trust in you that you can make this business grow big." Emma finally understands how hard her husbands have to work outside. Her husbands have never complained about being tired and have a bad day at work. Even though she also has her own business, but her husband manages most background work for her while she mainly gives orders. She should pay more attention to her husbands and treat them even better, she thought.
"I won't disappoint you and big brother's trust." Jie-Wai embraces Emma in her arms. He felt like he's on top of the world and is the luckiest man alive.

But if they keep them, then they don't have to look for new people to work for them and these farmers won't lose their job. It's really a win-win situation for both of them and the farmers.
"Emma, you don't have to worry. I will keep everyone that works here. I can't let them lose their job just because I took over the farm. But I still need to hire more workers since there are only enough people here to work half the farm. The other half is still unused, I want to grow fruits in the other half of the farm. I also plan to build a greenhouse not too far from the farm to grow flowers. I will need to hire more people to work here," Jie-Wai said. Even though Emma had written a business proposal, but he also has his own idea. He will incorporate his ideas into Emma's proposal to make it work even better.
"I know you can do it. My proposal is only for you to look through to give you an idea. You don't have to follow it, just do it the way you want." Emma can tell that Jie-Wai also has his own thinking and ideas. At home, he usually doesn't speak up or makes any decisions. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have his own thinking. She wants him to bring out his true self by building his confidence working on this project.

After soaking in the tub for about 15 minutes, she has fallen asleep. And that's exactly why Jie-Jun had a small tub built inside her bedroom for her to use. He was worried she will drown in the big bathhouse if she fell asleep in there. This small tub is only up to Emma's shoulder area when she sits down, so her head sticks out even if she falls asleep, so there's no chance of her drowning.
Knock. knock. The sound of someone knocking on the door. The person outside keeps knocking for a minute and there's no answer from the inside. Emma's bathtub is all the way in the back of the room with a screen separate. Due to the bathtub being all the way in the back and plus she had fallen asleep, Emma wasn't able to hear the knocking on the door.
The person that's knocking on the door is Yi-Hou. He heard that Emma has come home so he came here looking for her since he has questions to ask. But after knocking and waiting for a minute and there's still no reply, he wonders if he should go in to see if she's in there or not. He remembers one of the rules is to knock first before going in. So he knocks already, so he can go inside, right? It only took him a few seconds to debate this question and he decided since he knocked on the door, he can go inside.

When he got to the back where the tub is, he saw Emma sleeping in the tub. He doesn't know if he should wake her up or not. As he is deciding whether or not to wake her up, he is looking at Emma who's still sleeping in there. She had her hair down and her hair is covering part of her shoulder. He can clearly see her smooth white like jade skin and her half-exposed chest. He has never seen a woman up close like that, and she looks very tempting to him.
'Tempting.' That was a first for him, no women have ever tempted or pique his interest before until now. As he looks closer at her, he unconsciously walks closer to her. Her sleeping face is beautiful and her lips look delicious. His heart suddenly starts beating fast as he watches her sleeping face. He can also see a little bit of her chest area that sticks out, which causes him to start having a little weird feeling. He doesn't understand what these feeling are and his face is starting to burn up and his heart is pounding. He doesn't know what to do and how to handle these weird feelings, so he quickly but quietly left Emma's room to go back to his own room.
A few minutes after he had left the room, Emma woke up from her sleep in the tub. The water has turned cold and she has woken up due to feeling cold in the water. But she's still sleepy so she quickly dries herself and got dressed and when to her bed to continues her sleep. She had no idea that someone has come inside the room earlier.
Inside Yi-Hou's room, Yi-Hou is drinking some water to calm himself down. It took him a few minutes to calm those weird feelings down. He has never experienced this kind of feelings before. His face is burning up and turning red and his heart is pounding fast, somehow it feels similar to when he has gotten sick before with a cold. Yi-Hou though he might be getting sick, so he went to bed to take a nap. He doesn't want to get sick now since there's still more work for him to do.

He through he must be getting sick and should go back to bed again to sleep and rest. So he quickly finishes his food and then goes back to his room. Little did he know, his symptoms will last for a very long time.
