16 Chapter 016 - Suggestion

It's almost been a week since Sofia and Madame Ding has stayed with Emma and her husbands. They don't seem to have plans to go back home even when their husbands have sent people over to request for them to go back home. They just keep following Emma around and even invites their mahjong buddies over to play mahjong when Emma is busy with work. Emma and the Ding brothers are not bothered by it since they actually like having their mother around. But there's one person that is extremely bothered by it, and that person is Ding Yi-Hou!

The two women will not only follow Emma around but will sometimes follow him around. They would ask him tons of weird questions and watch him work in his workplace. He really wants to throw them out but he can't since one of the women is Emma's mother and the other is his own aunt. But that's still not the worse part yet, the worse part is that those two crazy women want him to shave his facial hair and get a haircut. They even make comments on how he dressed! Those two women are driving him crazy! He went to complain to his cousins, hoping that they will help him get rid of these two crazy women on his back. But not only did they do nothing to help him but they also agree with them!

Well, he can't really blame them since he does looks like he really needs to clean up and also gets some new clothes. Madame Ding remembers Yi-Hou looks really handsome when he was younger. She even thinks that he looks more handsome than her own two sons since Yi-Hou looks more like his father.

Sofia heard Madame Ding bragging about how handsome Yi-Hou is, so she wants to see how he really looks when he's all clean up. The Ding brothers thought that it's about time for him to stop looking like an old caveman. And Madame Ding just wants him to look his best, so Emma can see him in a different light and starts showing some interest in him. Of course, the main lead of all this, don't give a dame with what they think. He just wanted all of them to leave him alone!

Inside Yi-Hou's workplace, he has just finished what he was doing and is heading out for lunch. Just as his feet stepped outside the door, he immediately steps back. He quickly looks around and didn't see those two women, so he quickly left and headed straight toward the front door. He didn't want to eat lunch at home as long as those two annoying women are still here. Poor Yi-Hou just walked passes the front door when he got caught by the two women that he's afraid to see the most. Sofia and Madame Ding learned their lesson when Yi-Hou didn't show up for lunch at home and couldn't find his at his workplace these past two days.

"Oh my, Little Hou. Where do you think you are going?" Madame Ding grabbed one of his arms said in a playful manner.

"Um...lunch," Yi-Hou replies uncomfortably with sweatdrops.

"Oh, you are so silly. We have already prepared lunch, so let's go back in to eat before it gets cold." Sofia said with a big happy smile, while also grabbing his other arm. The two women caught him and are bringing him back to the dining room to have lunch.

There's only Madame Ding, Sofia and Yi-Hou in the dining room eating lunch since Emma and her husbands have been too busy to have lunch with them these past few days. The ladies enjoy spending time with Yi-Hou since he's the only one around here.

The women keep putting more food in Yi-Hou's bowl and make him eat. As Yi-Hou is chewing on some food, he almost choked to death when Madame Ding suddenly asks him a question.

"Say, Yi-Hou. You are not young anymore, when are you planning to get married?" Madame asked casually.

Yi-Hou starts coughing and feels a little choking from being surprised by the question. He immediately put down his chopstick and drank some water to calm down.

After calming down and took a deep breath, he replies: "Don't want to."

"But you have to! Otherwise, the government is going to choose a stranger to be your wife." Madame Ding said.

Yi-Hou didn't reply back, he understands that it's the law that he gets married but he still has a few years left. He doesn't want to get married right now, not especially when he found something that he really likes to do here.

Seeing that he didn't reply, Sofia suddenly make a suggestion to him. "How about marrying my Emma? She still needs one more husband to make the minimum."

"That's right, you should consider Emma. At least you don't have to worry about who you will be sharing your wife with. And the most important thing is that you can stay here and work on all these new inventions with Emma!" Madame Ding also said as she tries to tempt him into thinking about it.

And it did work, Yi-Hou is actually thinking about it right now. He never thought of getting marrying with anyone, but now that he thinks about it. Marrying Emma won't be a bad idea, especially when she can think up of so many interesting things for him to work on. He will never get bored and he also doesn't have to worry about living with strangers! That's just too PERFECT! Suddenly, these two women don't seem too crazy or annoying to him anymore.

"Okay, Emma." He said as he nodded his head.

The two women instantly know what he meant. They knew he will accept this suggestion since Emma is the only woman he has gotten close to in the last couple of years. But the hardest person to convince right now is not Yi-Hou, but Emma!

That night after dinner, the two women had a serious talk with Emma in her room.

"What do you want to talk to me about?" Emma asked as she looks at the two women sitting side by side next to her on her bed. She wonders if she did anything wrong for these two to suddenly want to have a serious talk with her.

"Emma, sweetie. You know, you just turned seventeen. Soon you will be eighteen, then nineteen…"Sofia is taking too long to get into the main subject, so she was stopped by Emma.

"Stop. What are you trying to say?" She had a feeling that it's not something she wants to hear and she was right about that.

"Emma, what do you think about my Little Hou?" Madame Ding asked.

"I think he's smart and intelligent. He might be quiet but is a good guy." Emma answered honestly, she didn't need to think before answering that question.

"Would you marry him?" Madame continues to ask, she wished Emma would accept it just as quickly as she had answered her previous question.

Emma had a shocked look on her face, then she remembers what Jie-Jun had told her before. He said that his mother wanted her to marry Yi-Hou on top of Jie-Wai back then. But she changed her mind since she's worried that Yi-Hou might not agree. Does that mean Yi-Hou agrees to it now? Or is it because her own mother found out her mother in laws previous thinking and is now giving her weird ideas and suggestion. Her head hurts from this, she doesn't even have enough time for her current two husbands, why would she want the third one right now?

"Mother, do you have something to do with this?" Emma asked her mother while trying to make her voice sound as calm as possible.

"What do you mean? I didn't bring this up, but I do agree with it though." Sofia had an innocent expression on her face.

"Emma, I thought about it after seeing Yi-Hou and your reaction to each other that night on your birthday party." Madame Ding is trying to clear Sofia from trouble.

"Mother in law, you know I have just gotten married to Jie-Jun and Jie-Wai. I don't want them to be unhappy by bringing in another husband so early."

"But you will have to marry another husband sooner or later. Wouldn't you rather marry someone you already know? And he's also someone that your husbands knows well too?" Sofia's trying to convince her own daughter.

"Emma, you know how Yi-Hou is. If I just leave it up to him, he will never marry anyone. Then the government is going to find a wife for him. We won't know who that person is, where she's from and most important of all, how he will deal with her other husbands. With the way Yi-Hou is, his wife would most likely want to divorce him. Or he might get bully by others. He is my dead sister's only son, I can't bear to see him suffer."

"He still has 3 years left before the deadline for him to get married. He might find someone he likes by then." Emma tries to convince Madame Ding, but even she doesn't think it's possible with the way Yi-Hou is.

"But we asked Yi-Hou earlier today, he said okay to marry you. Since you got to find yourself another husband, you should just accept it." Sofia said.

Emma is speechless, so it seems like these two women came prepared. They planned their stay here and even convinced Yi-Hou about marrying her. What can she say now? She doesn't think Yi-Hou is a bad choice since she already knows him. They are comparable at work and he understands her thinking well. She meant he understands how she wants to make the inventions. And she's sure he's not as needed as her other two husbands so she can probably have a more relaxing time with him. Well, that might not be the case in the future.

Finally, Emma took a deep breath and tells the two women her true thinking.

"I do think that Yi-Hou is a good choice to be my third husband. But I do not want to get married again right now since my husbands and I are still newlyweds and we are all very busy with our businesses. I will get married to a third husband in two years from now when everything settles down. And I will only marry someone that both my husbands approval off since I don't want them to be unhappy." Emma finally backs down and gave her final offer to the women.

Madame Ding hearing Emma's words made her very happy. She's happy that this daughter in law cares so much about her sons' feeling. She's also glad that Emma didn't directly reject their suggestion. All she needs to do now is to convince her two sons and wait until Emma's ready for marriage again.

"Thank You, Emma." Madame Ding said. She is touched by Emma's words, and so is Sofia.

Just like the wind, Madama Ding and Sofia left her room quickly to gather the Ding brothers. They need to convince two more people before they can finally go home. Meanwhile, Emma is speechless at the speed those two women ran off. She feels that her mother in law has been hanging around her mother too much lately. Madame Ding is becoming more and more like Sofia.

Inside of the guestroom that Madame Ding is staying at, Jie-Jun and Jie-Wai are both there. Sofia isn't with them since those are Madame Ding's sons and Yi-Hou is also her nephew, so it's better her not to be here.

"Mother, you want to speak to us?" Jie-Jun asked he wonders what his mother wants to say to them both. He knew his mother and Sofia has just left Emma's room, could it be related?

"I want to talk to you two about Yi-Hou's marriage." Madame Ding said.

Hearing that, Jie-Jun automatically knows what his mother is going at. He should have known that his mother won't be staying here for a week for no reason. And since Sofia is also here with her, then it can only mean that these two mothers planned to have Yi-Hou become his wife's third husband. He really isn't too drill about it, if he would have known that by throwing Emma a birthday party would have caused this, he wouldn't bother throwing her a party, ever!

Jie-Wai also isn't stupid, he has also guessed what his mother wants to say. He's also not happy about it, but if Emma is okay with it then he's okay with it too.

"Mother, you wanted Yi-Hou to get married to Emma, right?" Jie-Jun outright asked his mother, he doesn't want to beat around the bushes.

"Yes, that's right. You two should know how Yi-Hou's personality is. Emma eventually have to marry another man into the family, wouldn't it be better if it's someone you two already know? You two knows very well that Yi-Hou is more interested in inventing and making things by himself, he won't fight for Emma's affection." Madame Ding is trying to convince his sons.

The Ding brothers bother thought seriously about it. It's true that Emma would have to marry another man into the family in the future. It would be best that if that person is someone they knew and also Yi-Hou is a good choice. They don't have to worried about fighting for Emma's affection, things won't be too different than right now. Seeing their mother's point of view, the brothers' unhappy emotion lifted.

"But mother, we have just gotten married and…"Before Jie-Wai can continue, he got cut off by his brother.

"Mother, you have talked to Emma just now. What did she say?" He doesn't care about Emma having to marry another husband, but he does care what she said and how she thinks about this.

"Sofia and I have convinced her that Yi-Hou is a good choice and she agrees. But she said she doesn't want to get married again so soon since you all are still newlyweds. And the businesses are very busy right now. She said she wants to get married again in two years and only to the man that has both her husbands' approval because she doesn't want you two to be unhappy." Madame Ding told his sons what Emma had said earlier.

Hearing that, Jie-Jun and Jie-Wai are touched by Emma's word and her decision. She cares about their feeling and also wants their approval for the man that can be her third husband. Usually, the wife has the final saying in the house and can marry anyone she ones without needing to ask her husbands approval or permission. Once again, the two brothers are glad that Emma's their wife.

The mother and sons talk for a little bit longer. They have decided that if in two years, Yi-Hou still didn't find someone else that he wants to marry other than Emma. And Emma is still okay with marrying him, then they would give their approval for their marriage.

After the talk is finished, everything goes back to normal. The two mothers finally decide to go back home after staying there for a whole week. But not before they go to Emma's new skincare store and took lots of things home since Emma give them permission to. She also gave them lots of the men skincare products too for her fathers and father in laws to try. Of course, she also wants their honest feedback regarding the products.

Seeing the two women off in two separate horse carriage full of stuff, Emma knew they have been going out crazy shopping for the past week. Just as she thought, women's money is the easiest to make! She went back to her room and notice a familiar looking book on her desk with a note on it.

The note reads, "Emma, you forgot to bring your book with you. I brought it over for you, so don't lose it again! Love, Mama."

This book is the sex guide named 'Happily Ever After" that was given to her by her mother before she got married. She purposely left it behind because who would bring such an embarrassing book with them when they get married and move in with their husbands! She can't believe her mother found it and even brought it over. She got to hide it somewhere that her husbands couldn't see.

Little did she knows, this book will be found out by her husbands. Because right before Sofia left, she told the Ding brothers that she had left an interesting book behind for Emma. She said that they should also read it and try it out. The brother had no idea what she meant by try it out but still nodded their head to response. But they would want to thank their mother in law in the future for such an interesting book!
