35 Chapter 35: Let's Go to a Flower Shop
Panting slightly I peer pensively at my crimson blade for a few seconds. 'The cruelty that I just committed....was that really me?'
'While I would have never been accused of being a perfect man in my last life, I can't seem to remember a time when I was ever mean. Maybe I need to get some people around me for a while, spend a night in a town. These woods are making me better, but a vacation should be fine...right?'
Taking back my pretty rocks I casually toss them into the cave that I was using as shelter. Their soft warm glow makes them pretty damn good night lights.
I can see that Gavin is still in tremendous pain. He's straining his bonds as hard as he can, while gritting his teeth to not let out a scream.
I sigh deeply, "You two are lucky I'm a nice guy." Calling upon the power within I begin weaving the complex knot that reflects the 'Earth's Gift'. "By the power of the Earth, I grant you the gift of life." I intone solemnly.
Gavins eyes have grown wide and crazy as he thrashes to attempt to run away, but all efforts are futile. The bright yellow light settles on his shaking form, and the deep red cuts that I had left, are slowly filled in. The damage is in no nullified, only the healing is accelerated. The stark white lines that cover Gavins chest still read clearly his actions.
There now at least this jackass won't bleed out. Since they aren't really much of a threat I decide to release Gazin. The harmless little boy has looked out of his mind with fear for a while now. Even with his bindings gone, he attempts to neither flee, or fight. He merely sits there staring at me with eyes blinded by fear.
"Gazin, go check him." I command, but I can't even get a nod out of the kid. Walking up to him, I can even see a faint puddle below him. 'Did I....Did I just make this kid pee his pants...from fear?'
I feel a sharp sting in my heart, but I can't let that distract me. No matter who they are, thieves need to be punished. I slowly press my hand onto Gazins soft blue hair.
"There punishment is over." I calmly announce. Gazin turns to me dumbly, and only seems to be able to nod.
Since Gazin seems to have some life coming back to him, I allow the vines to fall from around Gavin. He doesn't move and only stares at me.
Sitting back down by my fire, I can feel my hunger roar inside of me. Wolfing down a few fish, I don't even spare my two visitors a glance.
'In fact I kinda just assumed they would leave. I didn't really assume that they would just kinda, be too scared to run away....'
'Ugh, why won't you two just leave!' "What."
Gavin jumps at my voice and grovels on the floor, "P.p...please lord Druid if you let us go, we can help you! No..No..No matter what it is, if you need it we can find it! Right lord Gazin?"
My expression I try to keep neutral, but I can't help but turn to look at the still slightly dreamy eyed Gazin. "Lord you say?"
Gazin seems to have trouble looking me in the eye, so he turns away but nods slightly. "Yes Druid. I'm a Baron."
My anger begins swelling again, but I let it die out. I already made the kid wet his pants. Any more would just be a dick move.
"If your a Baron shouldn't you be in castle doing....Baron...Stuff.."
Gazin laughs slightly, "Yes, but my Chancellor and I snuck out for a bit. We were going to head to the local town to um..."
Gazin trails off looking slightly ashamed.
My smile returns once more, 'How could I not know what he means? Two men, going to a far away city to escape your name. Right as a certain someone seems to be about to hit puberty?
"So, you were going to a brothel then?"
I ask innocently enough, my wolfish grin spreading from ear to ear. Gazin nods again, and even attempts eye contact.
"Good boy, telling the truth." I smile indulgently I turn towards the Chancellor Gavin once more.
"I'll make you two a deal." Gavin instantly begins grovelling again. "Yes, my lord Druid. Whatever you ask it is yours."
"Good, then take me to this town you were heading to, also buy me a girl and a few drinks."
I demand, from the shocked and relieved expressions on their faces, I can tell that they were willing to give much more.
Gazin jumps to his feet in excitement. "That..That's all you want?"
I nod sagely, "Well yeah...you were only try to steal my rock collection. Perhaps carving thief was a bit much..."
"ROCKS! These aren't rocks! They're spirit gems, they are worth a fortune!"
I blink once slowly in surprise. 'Huh, well I guess this is a good discovery then? Honestly I just wanted them since they look so pretty, but if they're worth money who cares!'
We all three stare at each other in silence for our various mistakes so far. I shake my head and pull both Gavin and Gazin to their feet. "How 'bout we just be friends? Sound good?"
"Yes lord Druid! That would be fantastic!" Lord Gazin beams at me, and takes my hand to shake. He has surprisingly soft hands, even for the nobles.
Thankfully their destination was truly not much further. While they had been travelling for the last few days, this was the final stretch. If their travel expenses hadn't been drained they would have made it their a while ago. Though the Baron was smart enough to keep most of the money they were going to spend on 'flowers'.
In the distance, for the first time, I can see a city with proper walls around it. In fact this is the first time I've seen a group of buildings dense enough to be called a proper town!
"Welcome lord druid, to the city of music Vishall!"
