7 Chapter 07: The First Interview

I could clearly hear my footfalls echoing in the hallways. What had started out as a nice warm manor quickly changed to a more sinister and eerie place, with a single added element. Darkness had finally descended and with its descent much of the manor took on a sinister vibe.

With this revelation my anticipation had grown by leaps and bounds, as soon as we were done with Mayas parents I should be able to awaken my powers. There was only one though in my mind, MAGIC. Real, true, magic! A smile slowly grew on my face as my excitement refused to be contained within my own mind.

I saw Cedric stop at a door that looked the same all the others. There didn't appear to be anything that would give me a hint for what would lie ahead. Cedric shook his head and indicated that I should open it.

I could feel my palms go clammy as I reached for the handle. Ah, there is nothing quite like meeting your girlfriends parents to make you feel nice and tense.

I open the door slowly, sitting in front of an imposing desk is a man with fiery hair and deep eyes. The pressure from before is non-existent, but that does little to improve the mood as he stares daggers at me. I gulp down the saliva that has been building in my throat. "Good evening my Lord, I trust you are well." I say trying to remain likable.

He moves his massive frame slowly as he stands up to his full imposing 7 feet of height. This guy is just way to scary!

"Yes, Masamune." Really that's it? Not going to say anything else?

I wait patiently for him to continue, but it seems that my giant in-law wants to put me on the spot. "Very good my Lord, I'm glad to hear it." I smile as warmly as I can, though I feel it makes me look more sinister than kind. "What test did the others take?" Hopefully this can prepare me for whatever hell is to come.

He laughs briefly before looking me in the eyes. That terrible pressure is back again. I feel tiny like my life is completely in anothers hands. I can feel my heartbeat slowing down, and getting fainter. My breaths feel like trying to breathe at the bottom of lake. Then just as suddenly its gone. Panting softly my rage at this asshole finally begins to emerge.

This fucking guy! "Okay listen up!" I say sharply glaring at this red hulk. "Firstly, stop doing that shit whenever we meet. Secondly, tell me what the other candidates had to do." I say with an imperious tone.

Oddly this giant seems to respond well to strictness. The fire in his eyes dies and he sits back down. He probably isn't used to others not backing down when he flaunts his strength. "Fine, you seem different anyway. All the others had to do was fight for my lovely daughters hand." He says smiling.

"Ha Ha Ha." I can't stop laughing. Oh, that's all? Right, I forget this is a different FUCKING PLANET ISN'T IT. Okay, we can't use Earth logic on these people. Remember that!

"Oh, I see." Well I'm glad Maya was thinking about me then. "So what is our next step then...."

Hmmm... What the heck should I call this guy? I don't really want to seem lower than him given the circumstances. He seems the type to take something like that and run with it. I could call him...but that would just piss him off wouldn't it?

"Ahem." I clear my throat trying again. "So what is our next step Dad." I say it with a bright smile on my face.

His face has turned a very different color. I was expecting rage, or perhaps denial, but his face has lost all color. How sad, I don't think he was ready for that one haha.

"N..N...next there is interview with myself, Maya, and her mother." He says hanging his head in a quiet despair that even he himself can not fully express.

Poor guy. Shouldn't have been such a dick.

I stretch my arms behind myself and attempt to prolong the conversation. Her dad seems easy to handle, but her mom scares me a bit. Suddenly a curious though enters my head. "Hey dad, what race are you guys?" I ask simply.

He looks at me aghast a look of almost pity crosses his face. "Didn't Maya tell you? Everyone who enters here should have been well warned of the curse!" He exclaims.

Uhoh, this could be serious.

He clears his throat loudly before boldly pronouncing. "We are the people cursed by the evil witch! We are the descendants of all this evil. The only spawn of the accursed world snake! The Snake People! MWAHAHAHA"

Huh, who knew people actually did an evil laugh?

"Oh, okay." I say simply. Hm...This could be good for me though, I wonder if I can find a dog or cat person... I'll have to revisit that.

I smile softly, "well then I guess there won't be any problems." Standing up I walk around the room a bit just a bit too restless to sit down. "When are the next two interviews." I ask casually as I examine a vase filled with some flowers.

He seems to be torn, or maybe even in anguish as I dismiss his curse as a non issue. "Before the interviews there are still some terms you must settle with me!"

He proudly declares thumping his chest. "Now then, what is your job Masamune." He says my name with a sneer, such an ass. "I'm a druid." I say before adjusting a few of the flowers in the vase. He hid all of his pretty flowers at the back for some stupid reason.

*Crash*

I turn around to see my future father laying smack down in the middle of the floor. "You are a Druid!" He says in shock. My eyes open wide.

NEW WORLD NEW RULES IDIOT. I yell at myself.

"Yes, a druid." I say calmly reaching down to help him up. "Wh...Why would an honorable person such as yourself be interested in....." He looks down at a loss for words.

Huh, well druid is good then? Strange they were never very helpful in D & D or the RPG's that I played when I was a kid.

"Does this mean you have no issues with me marrying Maya?" I ask sincerely helping the old man off the floor. No matter how sturdy I don't think the poor floor could take it.

"YES! YES, you can marry her!" He says proudly before grabbing me by the shoulder steering me out the doorway. "First thing tomorrow morning, my wife and Maya will meet you." He says smiling widely.

I nod along with him, "I need to use your garden for a few hours, without the servants there. Would you mind?"

The words had barely left my lips before he turned to me eager to please. "Yes, we can do that. Agatha!" He bellows loudly into the manor I swear I can still hear him yelling. "Agatha clear out the gardens then guide Mayas Hus...Masamune to the garden." He orders and the young human looking woman nods and calls the other maids to get the gardens free in a few short minutes.

"Master, the gardens are free to be used now." She says to me simply. Such a nice girl, I can't help but smile and pat her on the head as I pass. "Thanks Agatha." I say warmly before being greeted by the beautiful night sky. I can feel the moon beams on my skin as power starts to course through my veins.

I unequip my armor and allow my entire body to absorb the powerful mysterious energy coming from the lady Luna.

Ha well I guess you aren't Luna anymore are you? Staring up into the sea-foam green moon the differences are vast, but the same gentle soothing light can be felt. I always preferred the night time when I was on earth and I think that here shall be no different. My muscles begin to swell slightly as my power caps out.

I'm now a fully initiated Druid, I should be able to call upon my powers. I can see in my head, the complex Celtic knot that needs to be formed with my inner will. My spells all look like this, a complex puzzle. I smile and sink into my own thoughts as I breath deeply of the cool night air. I start shaping my power.
