Chapter 14: Poison

Lotus’ Pov

My life was going smoothly. My new job was not as bad as I thought it would be. Adeline and I cook together. Sometimes, I get special orders from my pervert husband written on paper, usually sent via Ben, and he always reads it aloud. Ben and Adeline always enjoyed my embarrassment.

It was a typical day like others. Everyone was done with their breakfast, so Adeline and I were taking a break. Ben was also sitting there with us and pulling my leg as usual. Damien and Alex went outside to visit the borders.

Suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my left leg, such as being stabbed by something.

“Aah!” a painful sound escaped from my mouth.

“Are you ok, Lotus?” Ben asked me with concern.

The pain started to reduce, and then I felt another pain. It felt like someone stabbed me thrice with a silver. I cried out loud. Whoever was in the packhouse came into the kitchen, running. I was holding my stomach. I was feeling a little dizzy.

‘It's him! Damien is in danger. His wolf is weak’, my wolf shouted in my head.

Ben and Adeline were holding me. They were trying to understand what was wrong! Everyone was watching me.

“Ben! Damien. Help him!” I shouted.

Ben got frozen for a moment. I could tell he was mind-linking with someone.

“Lotus, alpha got stabbed with silver!” Ben said. His voice was shattered. I looked at him for a moment and gathered all my strength. I stood up and started to run. I know Ben and some other warriors were following me. I followed the faint scent of mint and fresh rain and reached the woods. Ben and others left behind because of my speed.

I saw him there. He was lying on the ground with Alex next to him. I ran towards him and checked for his wounds. It was on the stomach and his left leg. I did not waste my time. I cut through the veins near the wounds on his stomach and his leg. He started to bleed.

“What the hell are you doing?” Alex shouted at me. Ben and others are also here by now. They all are watching me with surprise.

“He is bleeding Lotus”, it was Ben this time. Ben and Alex both looked furious. I could just hope that the silver has not reached into his system yet.

“Let him bleed. It will drive away from the poison.”, I said to them and turned towards Alex, “Take him to the hospital. Quick!”

I did not have to tell twice. They all accompanied him to the hospital. The pack doctor ran towards us and placed him into a bed. He examined the wounds for a while.

“He is out of danger now. Thanks to the extreme bleeding. It seems like the silver left his body with the blood. His wounds are healing. It may take two hours for him to recover fully.” The pack doctor said. “Another thing. It looks like someone drugged alpha before stabbing him. It is interesting because that kind of drug can only be consumed with drinks!”

He was drugged! Someone planned it all along! I turned towards Alex to ask, “what happened there, Alex?”

“We were going towards the eastern border. Suddenly Damien said he was feeling dizzy. He couldn’t walk anymore and fell to the ground. I smelt three rogues at that moment. I fought them, but one of them stabbed him and ran away.”

“Curtis! Stand guard, your alpha. Take two more warriors. If something happens to him, I swear to the moon goddess I will be the first one to kill you”, I commanded him.

“Alex Ben, follow me. We are going to the packhouse.” I did not wait for their reply. I started to run, and they followed me. As soon as we reached there, I ordered,” Ben gathered everyone who lives in the packhouse. Alex, ask the warriors to get ready. Tighten the guards at the borders. A storm is coming soon.”

Ben mind-linked the pack members to gather in the drawing hall, and Alex mind-linked the warriors.

Everyone was staring at me.

“What the hell is going on? How dare you summon me like this?” Cersei yelled at me, coming from nowhere. I ignored her. I did not have time right now to entertain that slut.

“Who was the last person to meet the alpha today before he left the packhouse?” I asked in a cold tone.

Everyone was standing silently. I was running out of patience.

“Who was that?”, this time I yelled at them.

“It was me bitch. He always says goodbye before leaving.”, it was Cersei again.

That was it. I slapped her hard. She fell to the ground making a painful noise. “Close the doors, Alex”, I ordered.

“How dare you bi….” I slapped her again and pinned her to the ground holding her hands on her back.

“Did you drink with him today before he left?” I asked her, but she only left a painful moan. “Did you?” I yelled this time.

“Yes…” she said in a shuttered way. Everyone was silent. They were standing like a statue. Suddenly I sensed someone moving towards the door.

“Ben, hold her. She is trying to run away,” I ordered again, pointing towards that wolf. Ben and other guards captured her, brought her in the middle of the room, and placed her next to Cersei.

“Let me tell you a quick thing. I will stab both of you with exactly three silver needles in your body in three different areas. You will feel silver running through your veins every single moment. You will watch your organs decaying every day. But your heart and brain will be unharmed. You will feel every single pain consciously. Then you will die exactly after one year of suffering.” I stopped after that. I can feel everyone’s gaze on me. Cersei was beyond terrified. She probably never expected me to be a cold-blooded murderer.

“Now, tell me the whole story before I run out of patience. Why did you poison Damien?” I asked Cersei. My voice was cold. Cersei looked terrified.

“I didn’t know that was poison. Diana, you told me that’s only for making him aroused!” said Cersei. I was stunned by this peghead's idea.

I turned towards that other she-wolf named Diana. I looked into her eyes, and she started to laugh like a lunatic.

“I did it. I took my revenge! That man whore deserved that. He killed my pack; he killed my family. But he spared my life. He brought me here. I am an alpha’s daughter. I deserved to be treated accordingly. But he treated me as an omega. He teased me, hurt me. Despite all these, I fell for him. I loved him so much, but he only used me like a slut. He replaced me with another wolf once he got bored. He should have been stabbed by now. He deserved that.” She started to laugh again.

Cersei was also shocked. Well, that asshole deserved that stab, and I couldn't agree less. Still, I could not hold myself back. I slapped Diana so hard that she started to bleed.

“Whom are you working for?” I asked her, “Who helped you?”

“The rogue King. They are coming for you. For all of you.”, she laughed again.

“This is not good!” Alex said in a very nervous tone.

“What is it, Alex?” I can sense something is bothering him. Something that I did not know, but he knew. Ben also looked so tense.

“They are not coming for the whole pack; they are just coming for you!” Ben said in a shuttered tone. I looked at him once.

“And why on earth am I the last person to know this?” I shouted at them.

“Alpha asked us not to tell you.”, Ben said nervously.

“He is trying to protect you”, Alex said to defend Damien.

“Any news from Curtis?” I asked them.

“He is recovering soon. Thanks to the bleeding. He is saved!”, it was Alex this time. I felt a little relieved.

“You think he will love you? Do you think you will be his Luna one day?  He will replace you with another slut in no time.” Diana said to me with a painful voice.

“That’s none of your business!” I said in a cold tone.

Diana chuckled, “Why are you helping him? You also fall for his charming look, don't you? I saw you fighting last time. I saw how you protected his pack. You gave your everything. But what did you get in return? Nothing!”. There was a crooked smile on her face.

This time, I lost it. That asshole deserved to be stabbed. He never acknowledged me in front of his pack. He did not even bother to tell me about the rogues. But I am married to him, and so I have my own responsibilities towards this pack.

“That asshole, pervert, man whore, lunatic demon wolf you are talking about is happening to be my husband, and as his wife, I will never run away from the responsibilities I have towards this pack until I get replaced by another slut”, I told Diana. Everyone in that room became like a statue except Alex and Ben. Of course, they knew it beforehand. Their alpha’s marriage was not a surprise for them.

“Ben, ask someone to take them to the dungeon. This whole thing was preplanned! And those stupid bimbos worked without using their heads!”. Ben acted quickly. I can sense the tension in the room.

“Alex, what about the borders?”

“Still nothing Luna,” Alex replied.

“I’m not your Luna!” I told Alex. Then I turned around to look for Adeline, and I found her. She was standing there with so many questions in her eyes.

“Adeline, take the women and pups into the shelters,” I commanded her. She nodded in agreement. She started to lead everyone to the shelters. All the warriors are taking their positions.

“Alex, it was seven hundred last time. How many can our warriors fight?” I was really worried. I had a horrible feeling that the number will be a lot more this time from the previous one. My wolf was getting anxious. She wanted to go to Damien. But in his absence, I have to stay strong. It was a lot to take.

“We have a total of one thousand warriors, Lu... Lotus”, Alex replied.

I suddenly sensed that Alex is talking in a mind-link. He looked a little tense. Ben rushed into the drawing-room.

“Lo, you need to go to the shelter right now!” Ben almost yelled at me. I was taken by surprise.

“What? Ben…” Alex didn’t let me finish. He started, “Lotus, it's rogue again. They have attacked all the borders again, and they are coming for you. Damien ordered us to keep you inside the packhouse, and we cannot disobey his alpha command.”

“Damien is awake? Why didn’t you say anything before?” I shouted at Alex.

“I just got to know. We do not have time. Ben” and Alex left with that.

I stood there for a couple of moments before realising what just happened. Is Damien fine now? Rogues are here. I cannot fight!

“Ben, how is he?” I asked Ben.

“He is fine now. He is going to the southern border.”

“He is going where? Are you insane? He just got stabbed an hour ago!” I yelled at him.

“Calm down, Lo, and our alpha is much stronger than you know. He will be alright”, he said with a smile on his face.

How can he smile in this situation? I just cannot seatback. And why on earth is he still here? Shouldn’t he be fighting alongside? My wolf is getting restless. My wolf wants to fight those rogues, especially after knowing that they are here for me.

“Ben, I cannot sit back!” I told him.

“I cannot let you go out, Lotus. Alpha used his alpha voice on us.”, he said in a sad tone. If a command is given in alpha voice, none can go against it.

“But why on earth are you still here?” I asked him in surprise.

“I have been asked to protect you, Lotus!”
