Chapter 9: The Attack

Author's POV

“Lo, come on. We don’t have much time”, Adeline spoke in a concerned tone.

“Adeline, gather everyone and head to the shelter,” Lotus replied in an icy voice. There was something in that voice that forced Adeline to listen. She gave her a slight nod and left without anything.

Lotus ran towards her room. She opened one of her bags. 

Though I never have to use these here, she said to herself. She changed into trousers, put some stuff in her pocket and ran towards the main door. Her eyes fell on Ben, and other warriors were standing there. They surrounded the whole packhouse. With Damien and Alex gone, Ben was in command. She walked towards Ben.

“What the hell are you doing here, Lotus. Get inside, now.” Ben yelled at her.

“Ben, remember how my other siblings are blessed with abilities? Mine is speed. Just trust me. I have seen more rogue attacks than you in my life.” She answered in an indifferent tone, “How many warriors do we have?” she asked.

“Total hundred here, fifty are in each border,” Ben informed.

“And are these fifty including the patrol guards?” she asked again. Ben nodded.

“Ben asked the patrol guards not to fight and asked them to hide. Send ten warriors from here to each border.” She commanded. Ben got confused, but there was something in her tone which he couldn’t refuse. Ben did as she said.

“From which direction they are coming?”

“North”, Ben answered.

“We are heading North,” she ordered and ran. 

Ben followed her with three other warriors. She was really a fast runner. But what was she doing outside? If something happened to her, Ben would be a dead man. He clearly remembered what Alpha said today before leaving,” Keep her safe! Even that means the rest of the pack has to die. Let them die.” He did not know why the alpha was so possessive towards her.

Other warriors were also looking at Lotus. They had never seen her training. What was she doing out there? Why was she even commanding Ben? She seemed so fragile. Suddenly they smelled rotten eggs. The scent of rogues.

“Ben, ask everyone to target the front left paw. That is the weakest point of any werewolf. I will try to give you guys space”. As soon as Lotus finished talking, they could see many brown and grey wolves coming towards them. Ben and other warriors started to shift, whereas they observed Lotus running towards them in human form.

‘What the hell is she doing?’ A warrior mind-linked Ben.

Suddenly Lotus pulled something out of her trousers. It was a kyoketsu-shoge. Using her enormous speed, she moved quickly while using her weapon. And suddenly, all those rogues shifted into humans.

‘What just happened?’ another warrior asked Ben in mind-link.

‘Did she just kill ten rogues in a second?’ Another warrior questioned.

‘She is using silver.’

‘She was awesome.’

Ben couldn't even imagine what just happened right in front of him. The girl whom he used to think of as a fragile little one just killed ten rogues!

“What are you guys waiting for? Kill them!” Ben heard Lotus shouting towards them. “There are more coming,” and with that, she ran towards the other rogues. 

Two of the warriors killed the rogues, who were inhuman forms, and the rest of us followed her and fought alongside her. However, there was not much we were doing. Lotus alone took care of almost fifty rogues.

‘Who is she, Ben?’

‘What’s going on on the north border?’ another warrior from the south border asked.

‘We got a new warrior, and she killed almost fifty rogues in a few minutes, ’ another warrior replied.

‘What? Are you guys kidding me?’

‘She hasn’t even transformed yet!’

Everyone was talking about Lotus in the mind-link. Ben was so da.mn confused. Was she the same girl Alpha asked him to keep safe? Well, it looked like the situation was kind of the opposite. She can keep the entire pack safe.

“Ben, something is wrong here. It's only about sixty rogues. It's just a distraction. Asked warriors from other borders to be prepared.” Suddenly Lotus shouted, and we all were shocked.

‘She is right, Ben. It cannot be just sixty rogues.’

‘Everyone be aware. Lotus thinks this attack on the north was just a distraction,’ Ben said in mind-link.

‘Ben, we smell something here, in the south, ’

‘We also smell something in East, ’

‘Ben, they are here as well.’

‘hold them off as long as you can and ask the patrolling guards not to fight. We are coming’ Ben ordered them and then pulled Lotus’s trousers. They still couldn't mind-link with her as she still wasn’t a pack member. Lotus understood what Ben was trying to say. She appointed forty guards to stay at the border and asked the rest to follow Ben.

‘She is so dominating.’

‘She is so pretty.’

‘She looks like a teenager, ’

‘How old is she?’

‘Just shut up and focus’, Ben yelled at them.

“Are we going east?” Lotus asked, and Ben let out a soft growl. “Then I am going west. Inform them I will help them.” 

Lotus knew west was the furthest border of this pack. She picked up her speed and reached there in no time. She attacked the rogues with her weapons. There were hundreds of them. With her pace, she kept injuring the rogues with silver, which forced them to change their shape into human form. It didn’t take them long to kill more than hundreds of rogues. Damien indeed has skilled warriors. Once they were done, Lotus stood in front of one wolf and commanded “shift.”

The wolf shifted to human. He was naked. Lotus doesn’t have time to concentrate on those things.

“Ask the patrolling guards to go further from the border and check if there are any more left. If not, then send ten warriors to the east. And whoever is wounded and unable to fight, send them back or ask them to rest. I am heading south.”

“Ok, Luna”, that guy responded. She nodded her head and ran towards the southern border. Did that guy just call her Luna? She does not have time to overthink.

‘Is she really our Luna?’

‘Isn’t she the same girl who ran away and Alpha sent all of us to track her down?’

‘Alpha was furious by that time.’

‘Yes, she was the same girl.’

‘we never thought she could fight like that.’

‘She is special to alpha.’

‘I have seen how she can calm our alpha within no time, ’

‘Jimmy just called her Luna, and she nodded.’

‘What did you just say?’ Ben yelled at the warrior. Ben couldn’t process whatever was happening. It seems like they are more interested in talking about her than fighting.

‘She is here now at the southern border, ’

‘She is so awesome.’

‘Focus, guys, ’ Ben said again.

Lotus reached the southern border. The situation was the worst there. She also felt tired. She started to injure the rogues, but suddenly one rogue jumped into her from behind and took her weapon away. She dodged him and pulled out her knives from both boots. That wolf targeted her and jumped towards her again. Lotus slides her body below that wolf and drags her silver knife on its neck. Then four more wolves attacked her simultaneously. She was very skilled with knives. Five years of practice, she thought. It took her only a few minutes. She again started her fight against the rogues, and after an hour, they successfully killed all the rogues at the south.

‘South border is also clear.’

‘East is also in control now, ’

Lotus walked towards one warrior and announced,” Ask all the petrol guards to check if there are any other traces of rogues. Asked the warriors guarding the packhouse to replace their positions with the wounded warriors. If you find anything, inform Ben immediately. I will head towards the east”

‘She is indeed our Luna.’

‘Yes, I can sense that too.’

‘She is heading east, ’

Damien and Alex left the pack territory in the early morning. They are heading towards Midnight Packhouse to attend a meeting among the alphas of four other packs. It’s a long journey from his territory. He was only going because his presence was important. Damion was talking to the alpha of the Midnight Pack. He could feel that some people are continuously trying to mind-link with him. His pack members usually use the mind-link because it was the time for their training. So, he kept his link closed so that he could focus more on the meeting. Alex did the same thing. But these people just cannot keep their mouths shut. He was irritated. He opened the link to scold them.

‘I think there are no more rogues in the south as well.’

‘She was right; the north was only for distraction.’

‘She is a true warrior.’

‘Who is a true warrior?’ Damien yelled in his mind-link. ‘Ben, what’s going on?’

‘Alpha, we were under attack. It was a rogue. Almost seven hundred of them,’ Ben replied.

‘What?’ Damien shouted. Rogues? Over seven hundred? What about Lotus? Is she alright? He added Alex in mind-link as well.

‘Don’t be worried, alpha, and the situation is under control now.’ A warrior said.

‘Yes, alpha, Luna has taken care of the North-South and West border,’ it was another warrior.

‘Luna?’ Damien was confused as hell. Whom are they referring to? Alex is also confused. Cersei cannot fight.

‘Alpha, they are talking about Lotus’, Ben said

‘Luna commanded to replace the wounded soldiers.’

‘Yes, and it was also a good decision to keep the patrolling guards hidden. Now they can continue their job while we can rest a little.’

‘What do you mean by what she commanded?’ Damien was furious. ‘Ben, I precisely told you to keep her safe, and you took her to the battlefield?’

‘Alpha, I asked her to stay, but...’ Ben tried to say some excuses.

‘Alpha, we don’t think she needs any protection.’

‘Yes, alpha, she took only a few minutes to injure fifty rogues just only with her knives.’

Fifty rogues with knives? Damien couldn’t sit down anymore. That girl is getting on his nerves. Is she leading his army? Even worse, she is fighting the rogues!

“Alpha Markus, I have been informed by my command in third that there is a rogue attack. I have to leave immediately.” Damien apologised and left their territory. He transformed into a wolf and ran towards his pack territory. Alex also followed him.

On another side, Lotus reached the east border. She saw Ben had captured three rogues half alive. Lotus, Ben, along with some wounded warriors, walked towards the packhouse. Some warriors, including Ben, have shifted into human form. She was tired. It took almost three hours for them to reach the packhouse from the border. Lotus went there and saw the other wounded warriors. She saw other females come out from their shelter, and Adeline was also standing there.

Adeline ran towards her and hugged her.

“Are you alright, Lo?” she asked and checked for her injuries. Lotus nodded and returned a smile.

All the other wolves were also shifted back to their human forms. Lotus stands up to look for Ben. Suddenly everyone bent their knees in front of her. She was shocked at first by their reactions. Then she found Ben walking towards her. He looked at her with a smile in face. He also bent his knees and said, “Thank you, Luna, for saving us.”

“Luna,” all the other warriors said in chorus.

“Please stand up. All of you. I am not your Luna!” Lotus said with a confused face.

“Yes, that’s right. She is not your Luna; I am. I am going to be your Luna. You should bend your knees towards me,” Cersei yelled at everyone else, “I will take that as disrespect. Let Damien come”

Ben stood up, and so did others. Ben walked toward Cersei and said,” A pathetic slut like you can never be our Luna. Even if you were, we would have never bent our knees in front of you. She earned that respect, and you will never understand that.”

Lotus felt overwhelmed. Tears fell on her cheek. Finally, she got the respect she desired from this pack since the day she arrived. Suddenly she smelled fresh mint and rain. It was him. He was here. She turned around and saw a big pitch-black wolf staring at her. She could not hold her tears back. She heard of bone cracking. Damien transformed into a human. He was naked. Ben passed him a short quickly. Cersei ran towards Damien and hugged him tightly, “Oh, thank God you are back, Babe. This girl insulted me. She is commanding your warriors. She wants to take your position in this pack.”

Lotus was shocked. She was a little hurt. She thought Damien would ask her at least about her whereabouts. Instead, her husband is hugging his mistress. He did not even look at her once.

“What’s going on here? Rogue attack? Why I have not been informed,” he yelled at Ben. His wolf was on the verge of taking control. “Why on earth was she in command?”

Everyone stood there in silence. Ben gathered some courage to say, “Alpha, Luna was...”

“She is NOT MY LUNA” Damien shouted on his face. Lotus knew this would happen. She is not his Luna. This man has not even acknowledged her as his wife.

‘We did everything for his pack,’ her wolf cried out

‘But he is not ours. He is neither our mate nor our husband,’ Lotus whispered.

‘Our mate will acknowledge us, right? He will not be like him, right?’, her wolf was insecure. She wanted some assurance. But how can she give her confidence when she herself does not know what is written in her fate? Lotus sighed. 

“I am an alpha’s daughter, alpha Damien; I can tolerate insults, disrespect, pain, and what not for the sake of my pack’s safety, but I just cannot sit back and watch others dying. Just think it that way; you won a warrior from the treaty you made.” Lotus said in an indifferent tone and walked inside the packhouse without waiting for his response.
