Chapter 7: The Visitor

Jakob’s POV

It’s been almost six months since Lotus left our pack. Everything changed after that. I couldn’t sleep well in the past months. Neither did Evalyn. The only thing we were planning is to get our sweet sister back to our pack. She does not deserve to be with a monster like Damien. It says that when you want something from the core of your heart, the universe helps you achieve that. Something similar happened to us.

In the werewolf world, we believe that the moon goddess herself created six ancient packs. The alphas of those packs are descendants of the Moon goddess. Those packs were Silent Moon Pack, New Moon Pack, Red Moon Pack, Silver Moon Pack, Blood Moon Pack, and Golden Moon Pack. That is another reason that we carry Moon in our pack names. All these six-packs were always closer. We consistently observed that our mates belong to one of these packs if they are not from our own packs.

All these six-packs gather every ten years to celebrate the moon festival. It is not just a festival but a symbol of our unity. The alphas from these packs gather before this festival and discuss it. We are supposed to celebrate the moon festival this year. The gathering of alphas was on two months ago. Being the future alpha of my pack, I was also invited.

As I presumed, the discussion of this gathering was more political. Everyone was concerned about the rogues. I was asked to give my opinion on this matter. I was waiting for this opportunity for so long.

I started, “thank you, my fellow alphas, for giving me this opportunity. I am from a pack where we have seen uncountable rogue attacks. We have tried to form treaties and allies, but that also didn’t help much. As we all know, the rogues demolished The New Moon Pack, and that day is not fat, and all the ancient packs will follow their path. “I looked at their reactions. It seems like they all agree with me. I knew that all of them tried to make allies, but all were in vain. All of them lost so much. Some lost their mothers, some lost their mates, their children.

“The rogues are only winning because we are divided. We are divided by the territories. If we want to end this, we need to erase those borders and merge our pack into one. That not only helps us with rogues but also, we will be powerful against the threats coming from other larger packs. Once, the moon goddess blessed us with our abilities, and we used to be the strongest packs in the world, but then we fell apart. Today we are standing here, alone, defenceless.” I finished my speech.

Everyone in that room thought about what I proposed. There was pin-drop silence in that room. Even my father was silent. This plan was not mine, but it was Evalyn’s. Yes, we indeed were blessed by the moon goddess.

“Even if we do that, who will be the alpha? How will you decide that?” one elder asked.

I knew that question would arise. Evalyn made me prepared for that.

“Here, we all are descendants of the moon goddess. We all are equal. It shouldn’t matter who is leading our pack. All the elders present here today; I will request them to choose an alpha for this new pack. You all have seen so much in life, and we know we can rely on your decision.” I said with a smile.

As Evalyn suspected, my words worked like a charm. Everyone started to talk to each other, and they said they would discuss it further on this matter.

After two weeks of that gathering, we received letters from Red Moon Pack and Silent Moon Pack. They both agreed with what I suggested. They were the closest packs of our territory, as well. I was so happy to see their response. I ran to Evalyn and showed her the letters. She read it carefully and said with a smile, “wait for a few more days, Jakey. You will receive two more letters soon.”

She was right, as always. We received two more letters in the same week. We arranged another gathering for further discussion.

All these pack territories are in a circle. So, it was decided to build a new packhouse in the middle of the territory. Along with packhouses, some individual houses would be built for the families to stay. We asked an architect to make the complete plan a few days ago. He showed it to everyone in the meeting, and everyone approved that plan.

All the elders then decided to pass the leadership to one of the future alphas, as all of them were around my age only. They tested us in three different ways: strength, decision making, and intelligence.

Did I mention our siblings were blessed with the moon goddess? Well, my mother was also an alpha’s daughter. So alpha blood runs through our veins from both parental sides. Evalyn is blessed with the brain. Give her to plan something; the plan will be a masterstroke. I am blessed with strength. And my little sister, Lotus, is blessed with speed and knowledge of anatomy. She always knew the weak spots of a person. This gives her an advantage in battles. She is indeed one of the best fighters we have.

All these plans Evalyn did just to bring our sister back. We knew how these treaty marriages work. We also knew she could survive for a few months, and hence we took our time and waited for the right moment.

The strength was not even a challenge for me. I easily defeated all others. I also did reasonably well in the other two tests as well. At the end of all this, I was chosen to be the alpha of our new pack. It's been decided that the ceremony will be held on the day of the moon festival. But the packhouse was already built, and everyone moved to the new place. We have already faced rogue attacks once, and we defeated them mercilessly. Now it's time to bring our sister back to my territory, where she will live like a queen.

“Jakey, it's the time!” I heard Evalyn. Her eyes are shining like gold. I still can remember that day. I can see everything clearly that happened on that day. It was a rogue attack. Lotus was five, Evalyn ten, and I was twelve. Our mother tried to save us from one of those rogues, but she was stabbed with silver. I was holding her at her last moments. Evalyn and Lotus were crying like anything.

“Jakey, Eva”, she called our name, “promise me. Promise me you will look after your little sister.” It was her last words. We promised her to look after our little sister.

I nodded my head and said, “See you soon, Eva. I will bring her back.”

I went to the garage and drove towards Blood Stone Pack. The road seems to be the longest for me. After almost six hours' drive, I reached their territory. I crossed their border easily because I had the treaty documents with me. I parked my car in front of their packhouse. I saw two buildings side by side joined with skywalks. I walked towards the door and knocked on it. Chocolate, I can smell her from here. She is inside.

A man of almost my height opens the door. He frowned and asked my purpose for visiting. I came inside. I was about to say something. Then I heard her.

“Oh my god! Jakey??” She ran towards me and threw herself on me. I smiled and caught her immediately and gave her a swing. I hugged her tightly. Some things never change, I thought.

“It is really you! I just cannot believe it! I missed you so much.”, she sobbed at the end.

“I missed you too, sweetheart”, I whispered. I was so happy that she was okay. There was no bruise on her body. At least not that I can see.

“Well, well, looks like our little bitch has a visitor”; I pulled away hearing that. It was a blonde wearing almost nothing. I looked towards Lotus. She looked sad. That slut called my sister a bitch! She is going to pay for that.

“And who are you? The pack slut?” I asked her rudely.

“How dare you? How dare you offend me? I am the future Luna of this pack.” She said arrogantly.

“Future what?” I was beyond shocked. That son of a bitch has a mistress! He is cheating on my sister! I turned towards Lotus and looked into her eyes, “Is that true?”

“Jakob, let's go inside and talk about it. You travelled a lot. You must be tired.” She tried to divert the topic. What the hell is going on?

“I still don’t understand why Damien was keeping sluts like her in this pack.” That blondie said again. And this time, I lost it.

I turned towards her, “You shut the f**k up.” I said using my alpha tone. Then I turned towards Lotus and said, “You are leaving with me right away. I don’t understand why are you even tolerating all these? Where is the fighter I used to know?”

Lotus was going to say something, but a voice interrupted her, “What is going on here?” It was him. Alpha Damien Black.

“Alpha Jakob! I didn’t know you were coming for a visit.” He greeted me with a smile. Hearing that I am an alpha too, that bitch shut her mouth.

“Alpha Damien. Well, I came here to talk about our treaty. But it seems that the treaty is already broken. I guess you forgot to mention your beautiful mistress.” I said to him in an indifferent tone.

“I am not his mistress. Babe, tell him what I am to you.” That blonde said, walking towards Damien.

“Alpha Jakob, please come inside. We can talk in our office.” He ignored that blonde and requested me again earnestly.

“There is nothing left to talk about. I am taking her with me, Damien. Never dare to cross her path again.” I tried to keep my tone calm. I was on the verge of losing control of my wolf.

“Jakob, I insist you come inside my office. I need to talk to you. It's about Lotus.” Damien said again. What’s going on here? What does he want to talk about? I looked towards Lotus once, and by her look, I can say that she also has no clue.

I nodded and followed Damien into his office. He closed the door and then sat on a sofa behind a huge desk. He offered me a seat in front of him.

I sat down. “What do you want to talk about, alpha Damien?” I asked.

“Alpha Jakob, none but Alex knows about my marriage with your sister. She is living here as a distant relative of my beta.”

Is he kidding me? He didn’t even bother to acknowledge her! Why on earth is the lotus tolerating this kind of insult?

“Trust me, Jakob, I wanted to tell every single person in this world that I am married to her. But I cannot do that. It will lead her to grave danger. If anyone knows a bit about her being my soft spot, she will be dead by tomorrow.”

“Is that all you wanted to say, alpha Damien?” I asked him in a cold tone. I know there is no point in talking. THE Sooner I can get out of his territory, the better it will be for Lotus.

“I cannot let you take her with you.” He replied.

“Alpha Damien, you have already broken the treaty by not giving her the rightful position. She is coming with me. My sister is a wonderful person, and she deserves to find her mate. She deserved to be loved. And an alpha’s wife is only threatened when she is his mate, not otherwise.”

I stood up and walked towards the door.

“She is my mate, Jakob!”, As I heard him, my legs stopped.

“What?” I turned towards him and said. He is Lo’s mate! How can it be? We always find our mates among ancient packs only.

“The day I visited your pack, I received only an invitation from your father. Nothing was mentioned about the treaty, though I sensed your father would ask for my help, and he did. I sensed how pathetic the condition was. I didn’t have any intention to marry anyone from those packs. I wouldn’t have gone there if he had mentioned it earlier. I only intended to humiliate him, but then I saw her. Everything changed in a second. I asked for her hand in marriage. I knew if I acknowledged her, I could not stay away from her. I am fighting with my wolf every single moment just to keep her safe.” He paused. I can see the pain in his eyes. I can tell he is not lying.

“I asked Alex for help. I could only trust him. He knows everything. He introduced her to everyone, saying she is his distant cousin. I will be honest with you, Jakob. I was a man-whore before I met your sister. I never imagined being married or mated. But her one smile turned my world upside down. You do not know what her little actions do to me. I have no interest in that slut you saw downstairs. She just works as a distraction for others.”

“Does she know?” I asked him.

“No.”

“No! why didn’t you tell her?” I was shocked. What’s going on here?

“Your sister is a minor, Jakob. Still, she reacts a lot in my presence without knowing the truth. The day she will know the truth, it will be harder for me to hold back. Besides, I want her to realise and I am the one she is waiting for. She is mine to love, and I am hers.” He smiled softly. I never thought in my dreams that this alpha demon, this merciless murder, will fall in love with my little sister. I cannot imagine how he was holding back. The day I met my mate, I marked her instantly without her consent. And here, this man, waiting for his love to realise.

“How are you holding back, Damien?” I asked him. He didn’t reply. There was a sharp pain in his eyes. He sighed. I can never understand his situation. I can never understand what his wolf is going through.

“Jakob, please let her stay.” He requested.

“I came here to rescue my sister Alpha Damien. I came here so that she can be free from this marriage and find her true mate. If I knew that her mate is already fighting with everyone else to keep her safe, I would have never come.” I offered him a smile.

We both left his office and walked downstairs. Damien took me to the diner. He said that my sister is a beautiful cook. Well, she is an amazing person, and he is yet to discover. Actually, they both are yet to learn about each other. I saw my little sister cooking.

“Jakey! I am making your favourite. Gnocchi Skillet with chicken and tomatoes and eggplants with herbed bulgur.” she said with a big smile on her face. Just like the old days. The fantastic smells are coming from the oven. “and I am baking double chocolate brownies”.

I smiled, ” Lo, you haven’t changed a bit!”

After having a fabulous dinner made by my sister and a long bro-sis talk, Damien walked me towards the main door. I saw that blondie was again sitting on a couch in the drawing-room. I walked towards her and said, “maybe you can be a Luna of some pack, but my sister will always be the queen”. She was shocked. I heard Damien chuckled. I hugged Lotus one more time and left the house.

‘Eva, our little princess is safe here. She is happy. We don’t have to worry about her anymore, trust me.’ I mind-linked Evalyn.
