36 Your Kid?
After a calm but long journey Samael and Silvia arrived at the Crimson Sky City by the afternoon. Passing by the City gates, the two of them entered the City and into the Plaza.
Here, Silvia bid her goodbye and went ahead to the academy to submit her mission.
"I'll go ahead." She said.
"Sure, be careful." Samael waved her goodbye with his open arm as the other was still carrying Casey who slept the whole time.
Silvia then walked away and gradually disappeared from his sight, followed by the little white Lion Cub, Leo. It seems that the little guy is really attached to her, wonder why?
After separating with Silvia, he walked towards the Imperial Castle. He had one thing to do here before returning to the Academy that's why he didn't go with Silvia.
As the Castle Guard saw him, they immediately saluted and opened the gates. Samael smiled at them as he passed through. He was already well known to the personnel of the castle as he would regularly train in the courtyard and occasionally he would spar with some of the guards under the order of the Emperor.
"Mnm..."
Casey, who was sleeping, was slowly waking up.
Samael waited for her to fully wake up before continue walking. Casey rubbed her eyes and saw the magnificent castle before her very eyes.
"Wah~It's a big castle! Does big brother live here?" She asked, it didn't take much to see that she was very excited to be waking up in front of a castle.
Samael laughed and gently placed her down before answering "You could say that."
"Really?! That's amazing, big brother!" Casey exclaimed.
Samael ruffled her hair before he took her hand and they walked straight towards the castle and some maids who saw him passing by called out and waved at him, some of the young maidens couldn't help but blush as he returned a smile at them. Well, that was to be expected, he was fairly popular with the maids here.
"You know them, big brother?" She asked.
"Yeah, they're friends of mine." Samael said.
But as they entered the Castle itself and head straight to Imperial Court room where you could find the emperor most of the time, they across some noble princesses gathered at the Garden inside the castle.
"Wah~Those big sisters are so beautiful!" As it was her first time in a castle, it was without a doubt her first time seeing an actual noble up close. The little girl's eyes sparkled as she stared at the ladies' gorgeous dresses.
Dressed in their own beautiful and stylish clothes, these women were definitely the flowers within the garden.
These noble young women glanced at him with interest. Samael had a well-built but lean body, long black hair with a handsome face, add his eye-catching crimson irises and he is without a doubt one of the most handsome youth within the empire.
Although this definitely had some of its perks, attracting young ladies would definitely invoke the jealousy of others.
He then noticed some young noble sons sitting at the corner of the garden, staring at him like he was some kind of pest.
But still who were these children and why were they here?
Samael didn't think about it anymore since he doesn't have enough information. He patted Casey's shoulder and they continued towards the Imperial Court room.
The guards standing before the Court room recognized him but still stopped him.
"I'm sorry, Samael but we can't let you pass." Said one of the guards.
Samael just kept a normal face and asked "Important meeting?"
The guard replied "Yeah."
"Then pass him the message, tell the emperor that I'm back and i have an important matter to discuss."
The guards nodded and Samael then walked to the side with Casey. Like a good girl, she just waited there with him while looking around, taking in everything she sees.
It didn't take long for the door to the Court room to open and a dozen of Court officials flooded out of it.
After they were gone, Samael entered with Casey and as the child that she was, she was even more shocked and amazed by what she saw inside the court room. She kept looking around, whether it be the luxurious paintings in the wall or the superb internal decoration of the entire room. Casey was extremely amazed by all of them.
As they enetered, there was only a man seemingly in his forties. He sat at the elevated throne and wore a dignified and proud expression, fit for a king.
"Your majesty, I have returned." Samael was about to kneel when the King suddenly stood and cut him off.
"Stop it, I don't want to get cursed...just speak plainly." The King said, honestly when he heard the first two words out of Samael's mouth, his whole body shivered and the hairs on his body stood on end. It was a very uncomfortable feeling.
"Very well, Old man." Samael smirked after hearing the King sounding so perturbed and annoyed.
The King wirily smiled, he knew he got played by Samael. He could've gone along with his charade earlier but it just felt so uncomfortable. They've speaking like this whenever no one was around, he was glad that there was someone who spoke with him without any care for his title or position, someone who could stand equal with him. Samael gave him this feeling that's why he enjoyed their occasional banter.
"You stinking brat, what do you want?" The King asked as he sat down.
Eh?
But then he saw a small girl looking around the court room. He didn't noticed her before because he was so focused on Samael.
"Since when did you have a kid?!" The king slammed both of his hands on his throne as he exclaimed.
Samael was expecting this question when the King turned his eyes towards Casey but he didn't expect this level of intensity. He got irked and shouted back.
"She's not!"
"Wait she's not?" The King calmed down all of a sudden.
Samael almost slapped his own face upon seeing the fast paced changed in the King's attittude and he answered.
"Of course she's not. Okay, look. It's a long story, I can tell you later but for now, I got a favor to ask you."
The then got serious and asked. "What is it?"
Samael then said "Do you have any criminals that are sentenced to death?"
"Of course! There are tons of them, from all over the empire. Murderer, rapists, bandits and even corrupt officials. What do you want to with them." The King leaned on one hand as he kneaded his temples.
Looks like though the peace in the kingdom was fairly being upheld by their patrols, in doesn't stop people, nefarious enough to continue doing criminal acts.
"Nothing special, I just want to be the one to kill them." Samael said.
"What?" The King was stunned.
Samael then continued spreading his arms "Oh come on, you're getting more out of this more than I do. You send me criminals and I kill them. What more do you want?"
Hearing his reasons the King did indeed think that there was nothing that could affect him negatively from this deal but he just can't help but feel that he was being played by this brat.
"Well?" Samael continued to pressure the King into agreeing.
"Okay, fine!" Finally the King submitted.
"Alright, whenever some criminal is about to get executed just send someone to notify me and I'll immediately come back to deal with it." Samael smiled and he called for Casey who was exploring all around the Court room.
Since she was still fairly young, though she might understand what they were talking about she wouldn't be able to fully grasp it. So Samael wasn't worried at all when speaking abour killing people in front of Casey, plus she had already seen the remains of the bandits which he killed.
"Seriously, why do I feel like I'm being played...Anyways, what do you plan to do with the girl?" The king sighed before asking.
"I'll keep the promise I made to her mother and take care of her." Samael said with a confident smile he took Casey out of the Court room.
Seeing them leave, the King chucked before muttering under his breath "You stinking brat..."
After leaving the Court room, Samael was walking with Casey to leave the Imperial Castle when he met with a very familiar but moody maid.
Aya, the Princess' personal maid, seemed to loathed Samael from the depths of her soul and wouldn't pass an opportunity to insult him. Because of this, she and Samael would more often than not, engage in a series of insults before resulting to a fight. As the Princess' personal maid, she was naturally trained in martial arts and had a fairly high cultivation level. So she was a convenient sparring partner for Samael from time to time.
She, stared at Samael first shocked to see him inside a Castle but when she saw the little girl beside him. Her facial expression totally changed into that of absolute disgust.
"I knew it, you are a pervert. So, you into little girls, eh?"
Samael couldn't very well ignore that and he flared up "What?! Who are you calling pervert, you barbaric woman?!"
Aya also couldn't accept this insult and she fired back. "And who are you calling a 'barbaric woman'?! You're the one with a child in hand, you probably knocked up some poor girl out there and hid this child didn't you?"
"Ugh...Fucking hell...For the last time! She is not my daughter!!!" Samael flared up even more.
Aya countered with "Sure... whatever you say." as she acted more disguted with him.
Casey on the other hand, enjoyed the exchanged between the two as she got to see the different sides of Samael. Before this she only knew him as her savior and now her caretaker, aside from that she has only seen the sides he made her see, so getting to see these new sides of him made her happy.
After that heated exchange with Aya, Samael and Casey began to walk back to the academy.
"Honestly, that girl ain't cute at all." Samael complained as he rubbed his cheeks, swollen with a palm mark on it.
On their last exchange of words, Aya exploaded and slapped him before walking away.
"Fufu~" Casey, who was walking besides him, giggled.
"Little girl, this is no laughing matter. If I don't get back at her, I wouldn't be me. Samael Bloodfallen." Samael proudly said.
Seeing Samael's proud face with that swollen red palm mark, Casey finally laughed, holding her stomach.
Seeing her laugh, Samael was happy, he was just lightening the mood so the child could slowly move on from her mother's tragic death, he knew that she was still hung up on it. They say time would heal any wounds but it was better to pass the time with joy so that you could look back at it with a smile on your face.
When they reached the city gate towards the Red Dusk Academy, Samael carried Casey and said.
"Hold on."
He then took out a cloth and covered her with in to protect her from the sudden winds from when he moves at high speeds.
Black lightning coiled around his feet and with a step, he flashed out from his position, streaking through the forest. As he traversed the long and wide forest, Samael left a trail of black, zig-zag lines from using his "Mirage"
Mirage, was his self-made move from combining his two elements. First, he would quickly gather Ice energy essence beneath his feet to quickly form a block of ice at which he would step on to travel even further. The speed boost he receives from using the Black Lighting after refining his control over it, made it possible for him to move at insane speeds.
When Samael reached the entrance of the Academy, it was already dusk. He quickly headed towards the Mission center from the map.
He got up to the counter and presented the mission scroll he received during the mandatory gathering of the new students.
"The proof?" The woman behind the desk asked.
Samael waved his hand and dozens of tied heads, landed on the table, some of them rolled down the floor. The woman was surprised at first but managed to composed herself before calling a few servants to collect the head and clean up the mess.
She then wrote down his name and the mission he accomplished, along with the time he spent completing it. The woman then handed him a Blue card.
"Congratulations on you mission. This is your student card, your School Credit points are stored inside."
Samael took the card and kept it, he wasn't as interested in it as the other students. He then asked the woman if there were some private residences inside the academy.
"Yes, there are Private residences given to students but they are given for Inner disciples, students who are chosen by one of the seven peaks. But there are some smaller residences that can be bought." She answered.
"How much?" Samael asked.
"80 Credit points."
Samael thought for a bit, he recalled that the teacher said that all of the missions given to every students had the same amount of rewards. He still didn't know how much credit points would the other missions reward him, so he didn't know if 80 credit points was too much or what.
But for the sake of better taking care of Casey, he agreed. "I'll take it."
"Thank you for your purchase, sir. These are the keys and authentication for your new house. Here is the map towards it."
"Thank you." Samael took the keys, the paper authenticating her purchase of the residence, as well as the map to it.
Now, he walked with Casey to their new house and he thought to himself.
"It's not so bad."
