5 Four
It's been a month since she set off to this small island with her now three years old son.
After being reborn, the first thing she saw was the sleeping face of Arctic. It seems like that time was frozen until she breathed again.
Two days before the usual arrival of Shun from the capital she decided to start a journey of escape.
With few amount of money and clothes they leave their house along with the memories she cherised and hated.
Being to be able to come back three years prior to the great war of the continent soothe her nerves.
Due to the war that last for almost twenty years ,their village was one of the few that left untouched but started to be overpopulated because of the people who seek for shelters.
Those years of wrath influenced every individual who sought for survival. They've became evil and grab every chance that was given if it meant their security.
Greed.
Desperation.
She closed her eyes as she remembered the pain they've face just to get out alive of that once peaceful village.
The people from different villages begged for their mercy to let them live at their village.
At first, they've built a tent and treated every one with respect and kindness.
But with the growing numbers of people also meant increasing of mouths to feed.
She shared every food she has just to help them, give them a decent clothes and let them built their temporarily house at every empty spots of their backyard.
But humans were indeed frightening.
One day she just found herself in a position where one of the woman she helped slander her about seducing her who God knows husband.
That was the start of the nightmares.
The villagers she used to love turned blind eye where she pleaded for help. They were afraid, they were scared to give a hand.
"Mama?"
A familiar voice makes her eyes opened just to see the pair of blue eyes that her son had.
"Um? "
She notices how his hand fidget, as if nervous to ask something she sighed and slowly lift his fluffy body and place him into her lap.
"Papa's not here"
Her son stated. The corner of her lips automatically twitch in annoyance at the mention of that certain individual.
Indeed, she knew this would happen. Her son would ask why they leave and especially asked for the presence of his father.
Gently ruffling his soft black locks she looked at her son and felt a pang of pain , five years from now this child would grow with nothing but fear and hope in his eyes.
Her child would grow begging at the street for help , desperately seeking for mercy just for a single coin.
Silently crying at the corner of the alley, searching at the leftovers of every restaurant but would greet her with a smile plastered on his face.
"Mama a merchant gave me this bun"
"Mama i found some wild berries, I tasted it first it's not poisonous "
"Mama I'm still searching for that Doctor "
She watched how her son grew at the peak of eight years old while she laid on the worn out bed they've found at the cabbin not too far from the capital.
"Mama i still couldn't find Papa"
She knows how Arctic sufffered, how her son became a magnificent youth.
"Mama? "
She let a hoarse laugh and embraced the little potato tightly.
No more pain in this lifetime.
No more regrets.
No more fear.
And especially no more faith to the man who brought nothing but pain to her and his son.
