11 The Killer Tree

Moons mouth watered as he saw the apple tree him and Pine had spotted a few minute earlier. He yelled in eagerness and flapped his wings many times before he was in the air his crashed into the tree, Star close behind him. They ate in silence there mouths to full to speak. Moon looked over and saw that Buggy and Pine where Drinking water and chatting. It was so peaceful like this and damn these apples where good. He smiled as he bit in another one sweet and full of water filled juice. He closed his eyes as he let the wonderful flavors fill his mouth. Moon looked up. He had already devoured three apples his pick five more and lopsidedly flew down to met Buggy and Pine. They smiled as he came down.

" Thanks. But no thanks we don't want apples. " Buggy said as Star came down as well.

" Not for you. For me! " Moon said as he aye another one.

" Okay should we stay here for the night. It's going to be dark in a few hours and with a spring right here and apples. Also because we eat meat the apples will probably attract prey for us. It's perfect. " Line said will a prideful survey of the place.

" Sounds good to me!" Star said her mouth full from the apples. Moon nodded trying to be polite. Buggy giggled a little.

" Always been gentle little bunny Moon" Buggy laughed at him.

" Your right because, I would never kill a bunny so I am a gentle bunny. " Moon laughed at his reply and the both laughed very hard so loud that a dragon fife miles away would have heard it.

" Gosh. Shut up you two. " Pine said swatting at Buggy but he ducked and Gabe Pone the evil eye.

" Missed. Bugger. " He said and backed up a few paces so that he was out of reach. Pine smiled and began to drink some more water. For Moon the apple juice had been enough for him. He laughed and pounced on Buggy. He smirked and threw Moon off. Moon yelled.

A low creaking sound came from the tree. Star and Moon both ran to each other. There terror reforming. Buggy dashed and hide behind Pine.

" Why did you wake me up! USELESS NOTHINGS!" A voice from the tree said. " Eat my apples and now scream to wake me up." The voice continued angrily. Moon was shaking in fear and beside him Date was petrified.

The tree suddenly began to uncurl. A huge dragon with thick bark for scales and the apple trees branches for horns stared like at then like a deadly snake ready to strike. The eyes of the dragon where red like the apples from its horns.

" Sorry..." Moon wheezed. The huge dragon was so tall moon had to lean his head back all he could to see the dragons red eyes.

" Sorry. You should be my slaves. After all. A stupid thing like you would actually be a little better off serving a Apples Day dragon. " The dragon said. Apples Day dragon... Moon thought.

" We'll..m ummm... Be. on our way mister Apple Days dragon. " Buggy said backing up a little.

" MISTER APPLES DAYS THE NAME IS ROOTY BUT TO YOU, IT MASTER!" He shouted at the youngsters. Moon yelled in fear and turned and fled. He was still yelling when he shot himself in the hollow of a tree and a claw slapped over his mouth he practically jumped out of his skin. THANK THE LORD. it was Pine he had made it here first. Buggy came in next and star Came in a few seconds later. A minute or two layer the Apples Day dragon, Rooty came by. He had a glint of murder in his eyes. Moon shook a little.

The youngsters stayed huddled in the tree hallow for nearly four hours before they left. It was pitch black when they left but the did leave. Terrified they walked extremely close together constantly tripping on each other and falling over.
