10 Chapter Ten: Who You Are

I was given a break while Benson went to call his friend. I'm disappointed in myself, so while he makes his call, I decide to do a few pushups.

"Curious about your new trainer?" Emiya comes and asks me, putting a small rock on my back.

"Kind of," I say, ignoring the rock. "I just hope he can help me. Those demons have to pay, and so do the gods that forced my father to give me away."

"That's a lot of anger you have in you," she comments, putting a bigger rock on my back. Again I ignore it, but I can feel the difference of the weight on my back. "Angry gods are not always the most wise gods. They have creations that look to them for guidance and strength. Your anger and grief cannot be your guiding force."

"I'm not a god. I'm just a human with god-like powers." I respond to her, my rage igniting. I look up, mid push-up, to see Emiya with a raised brow.

"Hmm," she grunts, only to then place a bolder on my back. I'm instantaneously brought to the ground, the weight nearly crushing me. "Not a god? Well, rather you are or aren't, you most certainly did not die, even with a bolder crushing you."

"I'm not sure what your point is, but could you please remove this thing. How did you even pick it up?"

"I told you, I was created to be a guide to you, and that is what I will do".

A smirk I've become familiar with plants itself on her face, and I try to hide my annoyance. Why is everyone so much stronger than I am?

With that thought alone, I push myself up, the bolder still on my back.

"You are far stronger than you give yourself credit for," she says with a small smile. "It seems we have a guest."

I am graced with the view of a green and brown blur, as a creature appears from nowhere, it's wings guiding him through the ruins.

Emiya removes the bolder, and I'm met with my instructor, after he shifts from the form of a dragon. I notice he resembles the man from my vision, and I question rather or not it was a premonition of the future.

"Master Daichi, meet your new trainer, Orth. He is well versed in combat and spiritual training. As well, he has been trained to be the best there is in heavenly warfare." Benson introduces.

"It is a pleasure, young master," Orth bows to me. He seems familiar, and I can't help but blame that weird vision for causing this. "May I just say, that your aura reminds me of someone I was once close with. The god who trained me."

"I hope that I live up to that memory then," I tell Orth.

"Right, would you two leave the young master to me?"

Emiya and Benson exchange a look, and then nod, before going through a portal leaving me with Orth. I don't know why I'm so freaked out, but maybe it has to do with the fact that I've become accustomed to Benson and Emiya at my side.

"So, shall we go back to combat training?" I ask the dragon.

He doesn't answer right away, instead looking me over.

"Your aura seems so damaged and clogged. It's as if two parts of yourself are at war. If you wish to unleash the hidden gifts within you, you must abandon your humanity. All love and all loss must be made foreign to you. That is how you will unlock who you are."
