8 Chapter Eight: Blessed or Cursed
As told by Benson, the Holy Training Grounds is where warring angels go to train. They had been abandoned far longer than he could remember, but he figured it would be perfect for me to blow off some steam.
Emiya seemed tense about the whole idea, but she agreed to accompany us. I'm sure, it's just to babysit me. Something tells me having an angry demigod near her was the last thing she wanted, but it was either have me angry there, or have me angry here. In the end, she agreed with Benson.
After chanting for a few moments, a portal opened, and when I walked through, I was left speechless.
The ancient ruins here were massive. It was as if giants lived here. I'm guessing that gods were not nearly a small as humans are. Benson was right about one thing, this place hardly seemed used.
"Alright," Benson begins in his teacher voice. "Every god, or demigod, has a power unique to them alone. Super strength to a human is not super strength to a god. For instance, the god of war, a god of many names, becomes stronger when war is happening. On the other hand, the goddess of love becomes weaker. Most gods move from region to region to keep from becoming too weak. However, your father, the god of all gods, did not have this limitation, being the first of them all. As such his powers are limitless. I'm not too sure how true that is for you." Benson informed me.
Emiya cut in, her voice serious and dark as she spoke.
"However, be warned. The stronger you become, the stronger your aura gets. The stronger your aura is-"
"The more likely I am to be hunted by the demons and the gods." I finish. My father went through a lot to keep me safe, and it feels like a kick in the face to go against his will for me to live. The thought of not, at least, trying to exercise these powers haunts me though. I'm tired of being weak, and I don't ever want to see someone die in front of me agin because I was incapable of keeping them safe.
What if the next time it's Benson? Or worse, Emiya?
The thought pierced my heart, leaving a deep anger in me. I would die before I let that happen.
"Now that we have warned you, allow me to continue. As you've shown during our resent battles, it is clear you have inherited the ability to create, which means you also have the ability to destroy. I urge you to be very cautious of your emotions. The warnings now out of the way, I will show you why training here will help you grow spiritually. What happens next will determine rather or not this training is a blessing or curse for you."
