6 Chapter Six: Demigod
Sirens. It was the only sound that swept me out of my stupor.
We ran, as fast as we could, until we were a safe distance for Benson to open yet another portal for us. It didn't take a genius to know that as soon as the police saw my house, there would be questions even I couldn't answer.
As soon as we arrived to Emiya's home, I went back to the room that she had once let Kana use, and sat on the floor.
"Daichi-" Emiya starts, but there seems to be a part of her unable to continue speaking.
"What could I have done? Why would something so terrible happen to me? I was supposed to be going to college. Kana and Dan were supposed to be right by my side, my parents were supposed to be by my side."
Emiya comes to sit by my side, Benson standing dutifully by her side.
"Milady, I think it is time you tell him."
I turn towards Benson, wondering what he could mean. Emiya nods, and the story she tells me changed the course of my life forever.
"Right, so I'm gonna tell you a story, and I need you to listen carefully."
My full attention is now on Emiya as she starts.
"Once upon a time, in the heavens far above our heads, reigned a god more powerful than them all. His name, Kano. The creator of life.
Kano was an angry god, however, his anger was as mighty as the generosity of his heart. One day he fell in love with one of his creations and together they had a child."
I looked at Emiya with wide eyes.
"The other gods were furious with him, saying that he had tainted their holy blood. That no god, not even the king of them, could defile their being so foolishly. Desperate to protect their newborn child, they sent him away to grow up in the human world. His mother, slaughtered by the angry gods. Since then, both the heavens and hell has been in an uproar, searching to kill the heir of the high king. I was sent to find, guide, and protect this child, so that they never find him, and they never get the chance to kill him."
"And how exactly were you going to find him?" I ask, a crack in my voice. I know where this story is headed, but there's this strong part of me that prays it's not true.
"He would be found on his seventh birthday. For gods, that is the age of ultimate growth, as opposed to humans, whose brains do not fully develop until age twenty one. He would bear the mark of creation in his eyes."
This can't be right.
"What exactly are you saying?"
Emiya looks me in the eyes as she stated the next line.
"I am saying, Daichi Akemi, Son of Kano, that you are a Demigod."
