1 Chapter One: Woman of My Dreams
"Daichi! Happy birthday!"
My best friend, Kana, yelled across. We were going our separate ways after classes. I've known Kana since we were small, and I've always had the feeling that she's had a crush on me. However, for whatever reason, I could never see myself with her.
She was pretty enough, and extremely smart. I just always felt as if I was destined to be with someone else. Kind of strange to believe in destiny, when I'm not even sure I believe in a god.
"Thanks Kana," I shout back. Before we could say our goodbyes, a massive headache strikes, and I nearly topple to the ground.
"Daichi, are you okay?" Dan, Kana's brother, asks me.
I tune him out, however. I'm overcome with a massive amount of senses, and I feel as if I'm hallucinating. My eyes zero in on tiny ants, as their colony stomp the ground, rounding up food. In my nostrils, the smell of fresh bread wafts my nose, but soon another sense overtakes me, and I bolt in its direction.
Screams! The sound reminds me of nails on a chalkboard, and I can't tell if I'm going that way to make the sound stop, or to help the person that is creating it.
I don't even stop to look as Dan and Kana call to me.
"Daichi wait," Kana yells.
"What's wrong?!" Dan shouts behind her.
Ignoring them, I reach my destination. When I get there, a beautiful girl, probably around my age, is being attacked by what looked to be an imp, and without hesitation, I jump into the fray, however there was one thing I failed to realize.
The girl I tried to save, didn't need my help. In fact, she was attacking the ghastly creature.
The creature in question grabs me, and without remorse, begins to tare my arm from its socket. This isn't the thing that scares me. What really got me was not the view of the blood gushing out of my body, or my now disfigured legs. What got me was the fact that I felt nothing.
There is not an ounce of pain that engulfs my body, and I turn to see a terrified Kana and Dan staring at me in disbelief. That is the last thing I see before the world around me goes dark.
*** 24 Hours Later
Waking up today, I shake my head violently. The dream I just had leaves me shaken, my mind now warped.
Looking around, I find myself unable to recognize my room.
"Where am I?" I speak out loud.
"You're in my home."
I turn to my host, and see the gorgeous woman from my dream.
