272 Home Sweet Home
The muffled sighs from the female students immediately filled the hall. Emma narrowed her eyes and studied the man on the stage to see why the girls were making a fuss.
"That is Bastian," whispered Ulla in a hushed voice. Emma could feel the pride in her voice. Ahh... Ulla was really proud of her cousin, apparently.
But again, Ema's expression looked flat and uninterested. This made Ulla disappointed. She had thought that Emma would be like the other girls around them, who shrieked under their breath and stared at the stage with gleaming eyes.
Ulla frowned and looked at Emma in amazement. "Are you a normal girl or not?"
Ulla's attitude as she constantly gushed about her cousin and then became disappointed when Emma didn't look impressed by Bastian, who appeared on stage, finally annoyed Emma.
The beautiful girl touched Ulla's shoulder and looked into her eyes while shaking her head slowly, as if to say, 'Stop it, Ulla.'
A minute later, the blue-haired girl fell silent. Ulla blinked and then focused her attention on the stage.
Finally, Ulla could stay quiet, Emma thought.
She also directed her gaze to Bastian, who was greeting the new students and presenting the student council and various school events that the council would hold over the next year.
With Ulla, the chatterbox, no longer making noise, Emma was able to listen quietly. Actually, Emma knew she shouldn't control her classmates' minds. She just did it because she didn't want to be bothered by Ulla's endless chatter.
In her heart, Emma was thinking about why she could feel so annoyed by Ulla's incessant chatter. Come to think of it, Xion was also very talkative but Emma was never bothered by his talks.
Ahh .. maybe this was because Xion never talked nonsense and his words actually had meanings. Meanwhile, Ulla was just gossiping, Emma thought.
When she remembered Xion, Emma felt sad. She could imagine Therius' feelings when he came to this academy today. He must be filled with sadness. Therius must be reminded of the past when he was still friends with Xion.
Maybe that's what made his face before he left looked sad, Emma thought. Therius and Xion met at the academy and spent so much time together.
Emma decided to contact Therius and ask how he was doing when she got to her dorm room.
She then returned her attention to the stage and observed the school president. Bastian looked like a very smart young man. His words were clear and well-articulated. He was also very calm and mature. Even though everyone could see how the girls in the hall all idolized him, he was unfazed.
He was the definition of cool.
"Very well. Once again, welcome to the Mage Academy. I hope you will enjoy your time studying here for the next 3 years. We will hold several joint activities between the first, second, and third-year students. I think the various celebrations will make you guys happy. "
He then ended his speech. "After you tidy up your belongings in your respective dormitory rooms, please gather in the dining room in Blue Tower. We will have a banquet to welcome our juniors tonight."
After Bastian ended his speech, everyone applauded loudly. As he stepped off the stage and walked toward the back, his steps passed the row of chairs where Ulla and Emma were sitting.
He looked like he recognized Ulla and wanted to say hello. However, accidentally his gaze swept across the beautiful girl sitting next to Ulla.
Bastian stared at Emma without blinking.
Emma was unfazed when Bastian stared at her like that. For her, the young man was like air, invisible. Her reaction was new to Bastian as he looked visibly baffled. This was the first time Bastian met a girl who couldn't care less about him.
The man became amazed and unconsciously stopped his steps beside Emma's chair. He looked at the girl attentively, furrowed his brows, and then walked away.
The student council president's actions did not escape the observations of the other students in the hall. Many girls tilted their heads, trying to find out who was the girl who caught Bastian's attention. They managed to find Emma sitting quietly in her chair.
After Bastian left, the girls' gazes became focused on Emma. Everyone wanted to know who she really was and if she was in a relationship with Bastian.
Emma didn't need to read people's minds using telemancy to know that the focus of many people in the hall was now on her.
Ugh ... she really didn't like this situation.
Even back when she was on earth, Emma always tried not to attract attention. However, unfortunately, with Emma's appearance, which was very beautiful and different from most humans, she would always attract the attention of people wherever she was.
Her beautiful face and cold and mysterious demeanor made people unable to take their eyes off her. What's more, Emma was also very smart. When she had to interact with her schoolmates and teachers, they would immediately know her brilliance.
It was useless for Emma to try to be inconspicuous and shut herself off, she would still be the center of attention.
Emma could imagine now, if she came to study in the academy using her true identity, the attention she received from the people around her would be even more disturbing.
Now, it was happening again. Apparently, on the first day of school, Emma unintentionally made herself a common enemy for most female students who seemed to like Bastian.
Bastian, you jerk, Emma complained inwardly. Luckily Mrs. Atena immediately turned people's attention to her when she gleefully climbed the podium and greeted everyone.
She was in charge of the dorm, and she called out the new students' names one by one and divided them according to their dorm section.
Emma and Ulla happened to be staying in the same section, with their rooms close together. The Red Tower was designated for boys, and the Blue Tower for female students.
Emma and Ulla got rooms on the 6th floor, which consisted of 20 rooms. Emma's influence on the girl using her telemancy had worn off when the two of them took the elevator to the 6th floor. Ulla was chattering about the building they lived in, whatever stuff she had brought from home and all kinds of other things.
Actually, Emma thought Ulla was cute and funny, but she couldn't bear to hear her chattering nonstop. When she finally made it to her room and closed the door behind her, Emma was relieved.
She threw herself on the bed and closed her eyes.
Ahh .. her mother must have lived in the Blue Tower too, and her father in the Red Tower. Where did they meet for the first time? Was it in the hall where new students were welcomed? Or, was it in the classroom?
After she was happy imagining the faces of her parents, Emma opened her eyes and looked around. Her room was of medium size. It reminded her of her bedroom in Grandma Lin's apartment when she was still living in Singapore.
In the room, there was a single bed, a cupboard for storing personal items, an entertainment center, and a desk for her to study. On her balcony, Emma saw a table with two chairs. She could receive guests and enjoyed afternoon tea together if she wished.
Ahh ... there's one thing missing, Emma thought.
She waved her hand, and in a moment, the two pots on either side of the balcony were suddenly filled with beautiful plants, making the environment look green and fresh.
"Ahh ... home sweet home," Emma muttered with a smile.
She took a deep breath and enjoyed her new home. Somehow she felt so easy to adapt to her new room here in the academy as she spent most of her life in the orphanage with very simple accommodation.
Her luxurious bedroom that she shared with her husband was really nice, but she needed time to get used to all the wealth and grandeur.
Ah... that reminded her. She needed to talk to her husband and asked how he was doing.
Emma pressed a button on her tablet and contacted Therius.
"Hey, Honey... where are you now?"
Therius was so happy because his wife took the initiative to call him. His voice was filled with warmth when he answered her.
"I'm leaving the hotel to the airport. I will go back to Winstad soon."
"All right. Call me when you arrive in the capital."
"Will do. I love you!"
"Take care."
