14 Hiding Cultivation 2

"Lu Fengyi, what brings you to the Wang clan?"

Wang Ying hurriedly unlocked the gate and invited Lu Fengyi into the courtyard. Lu Fengyi stepped in, instantly feeling a surge of energy that commanded an enormous difference between the exterior of the residence and inside the ironstone walls.

Lu Fengyi quickly bowed to both the guard and the older man who had come with Wang Ying, "I pay my respects to seniors!"

The soldier nodded before returning to his post while the older man chuckled heartily, "So you're a friend of the young mistress. Considering that you have the cultivation of Dantian realm pinnacle and your youthful looks, I assume that you must be a talented second year student. Thank you for visiting our young mistress, it's not often that visitors come with good intentions so ignore the previous attitudes of our guards."

Lu Fengyi was about to correct the man when Wang Ying spoke out before him, "Uncle Li, Lu Fengyi isn't a senior figure of the school, he's in the same class as me and he's the same age."

Uncle Li's thought about what the young mistress had just said before realising moments later the importance of her words. If this Lu Fengyi was the same age as the young mistress, being in the same class, that could only mean that he was also a freshman. Despite only receiving several hours' worth of lessons from Hongtian academy, this Lu Fengyi was already a Dantian realm pinnacle.

What did this mean? This meant that this child was a rarely seen cultivation genius that would make even the heavens jealous of his talent. Keeping his poker face in check, Uncle Li asked, "Lu Fengyi, would you mind telling me your parent's background?"

Lu Fengyi shook his head before answering, "Not at all, my parents were farmers their whole lives, however the thing they enjoyed most was learning the theory behind cultivation and everything related. Hence, throughout my childhood, I've developed an interest towards studying the theory alongside my parents, so I haven't had much time to cultivate. Forgive my shallow cultivation, even though I'm a friend of the young mistress, Wang Ying xiaojie."

Uncle Li almost spurted blood as he heard Lu Fengyi's explanation behind his background. Not only was this kid a poor commoner, but his parents were not even cultivation experts, only studying the theory. Not only that, I seem to remember him saying quite clearly that he hadn't much time to cultivate. Not much time? Not much time your head! If you had enough time, would that mean you would be even more well versed in cultivation by now? Geniuses are truly different from the rest.

Composing himself once more, Uncle Li continued to ask, "Your cultivation is completely excusable, however the fact that you've learnt deep into the theories behind cultivation, I was wondering if you could enlighten me."

Of course, Uncle Li did not actually need enlightenment, especially from a child not even a fifth of his age, however this would allow him means to test how deep this Lu Fengyi's understanding truly was.

"That's completely fine, please ask away senior." Lu Fengyi, of course. understood the motives of this Uncle Li and didn't make any unnecessary misunderstandings. Although Lu Fengyi seemed composed, on the inside, he was extremely elated. Who would have thought that completing the quest would be so simple, the opportunity was basically beckoning him at this point.

Uncle Li was about to open his mouth to begin testing when a clatter of hooves and a swirl of dust appeared before the trio. A tall soldier upon a silver horse dropped down to the floor before performing a salute and reporting, "Young mistress, Grand Elder Li, the patriarch wishes to see you both at the council space."

With a short bow, the soldier strode back over to his horse, galloping away towards the distant buildings. Uncle Li waved his sleeve before turning back to Lu Fengyi, "I guess we shall continue this another time as we have matters to attend to."

Uncle Li lead Wang Ying away before stopping only several steps later, "I guess you should come as well. You'll at least know where you are going if you follow us."

Lu Fengyi took up the invitation and followed behind Uncle Li, beside Wang Ying. Together, the three walked along the perfectly paved stone path surrounded by rows of large blossoming flowers and trees. Lu Fengyi took the time to admire the simple beauty of nature as they passed multiple gardens and groves. Back when Lu Fengyi used to go running, he would often stop to marvel at constructions of nature, however the Wang clan's gardens were truly on another level.

Making sure to imprint every image within his mind, Lu Fengyi noticed that the distant buildings had gotten much closer and before long, they had arrived before a large doorway with a signboard on top, spelling out an impressive [ Council Hall ].

"Let us enter." Uncle Li pushed the two children through the doorway.

Due to the sun blazing upon him for the past hour or so, Lu Fengyi's eyes did not adjust immediately to the surroundings, only able to just make out some shadowy figures. He felt a gentle shove to the side as he was guided into the corner of the darkened room before Uncle Li's voice whispered, "We can stay here for now. Let's see what they want."

A short moment of silence was quickly broken by a loud obtrusive voice, "Enter!"

Lu Fengyi's vision had mostly adapted now and he saw Wang Ying walk through the door of the room, stepping across the hall until she had reached a spot equidistant from the commanding voice as he was.

Lu Fengyi distinctly remembered this part of the story as this was the Wang clan's realisation to Zhang Xuan's greatness. Although he seemed the remember Wang Tao being the one who had dragged Wang Ying, Lu Fengyi decided to let it pass as his presence somehow affecting the events.

The silence stretched on and the tension within the room began to grow. Unable to bear it any longer, Wang Ying tried to speak out to the intimidating voice from before, "Father!"

"Kneel down!"

Lu Fengyi could now make out the owner of the rough, dominating voice. The man upon the seat situated in the centre of the room had a youthful look and long flowing fair that reached past the small of his back. Due to experience and Wang Ying's previous word, Lu Fengyi instantly knew that this man was Wang Ying's father.

From the corner of his eye, Lu Fengyi saw Wang Ying's trembling figure kneel onto the floor, still staring fearfully, yet stubbornly at her father.

Suddenly, an idea sprung itself within Lu Fengyi's mind. He had just remembered that to complete the quest, he had to gain Wang Ying's trust as well. Although he knew that she admired him for his knowledge, that did not mean that she trusted him, however this situation would most definitely provide the optimum opportunity to gain not only her trust, but the entire Wang clan's as well!
