26 The Vampire Covenant of Mern
Farsian was very intrigued by what he just heard. When he thought about it, it all made sense. But most importantly he really didn't wan't to mess with some vampire elder that was a millenia old. The sole thought of that allready gave him some shivers.
"Tell me more about it." Farsian said as he sheathed his weapons again. When the old man saw Farsian take his weapons away he immediately relaxed and started talking like a waterfall. Soon the scout from before also regained his consciousness and went to fetch some drinks for Farsian and the old man.
The man had much to tell and so it came that Farsian and the mercenary boss were talking untill the next morning arrived. Then Farsian agreed to leave for that group of vampires down in the south. Even if all that the man said was total bs he still had to go to check on it. Also Farsian was on the run from that King and his endless amount of magic so the farther he went the better it would be. At least untill he came back with allies or a higher strenght.
Farsian learned much from that old man and he payed the man much for one of his spell books. The more the better after all. The book was called [Lesser Invisibility] and as the name implied it teached Farsian how to turn invisible in the shadows. If Farsian decided to sneak attack that old man again he wouldn't even know what hit him.
But what Farsian was most interested in was that vampire that came to make dealings with the bandits. He actually claimed to be the representative from a group of vampires down in the south that had named themselves Vampire Covenant of Mern. Mern was a small island in the dark sea down south. Not many boats would sail in these waters since there were many pirates that occasianally came to raid the coasts. There were also many scary creatures that were lurking under the water. Seldom a sailor that fell into the water would come back out again.
And Farsian had also never seen the sea so he couldn't swimm either, further lowering his chances to come back out if he ever fell into the water.
The good thing however was that the old man said he would pardon all his crimes and that he could take with him who ever he choose. Farsian naturally took him by the offer and took his old group of companions namely Mark, Helena and the maid and obviously the two sisters that he had brainwashed into following him.
"Come back when ever you want! As long as you have the cash we have the supplys don't forget that!" The old man shouted at the entrance to the camp. Farsian was allready quite a distance away but he could hear every word. He decided that if he needed something in the future he would search for some bandits or mercenarys that he could exploit, just like that other vampire did. He obviously had a firm grip on these mercenarys! If he didn't then Farsian couldn't walk away like this after making such a rukus inside the camp!
"Where are we going now master?" The maid said as she walked next to Farsian.
"Down south. I think I will meet some of my old friends there, and besides there might be a way to learn new spells for me there!" Farsian and his group marched down south through the jungle like forest. The further away from society they went the thicker the forest grew.
"Stop! I can't bear it anymore! All these insects and this weird feeling when grass is touching my legs!" Helena screamed in agony as she stopped on the spot unwilling to move any further.
"Ahh, ok then wait here I will try to find a road that we can follow." Farsian said.
He turned around and looked up a tree next to him that was no less than 25 meters high!
"Yup that could work." With that he used his super human strenght and his claws to climb the tree in a rapid pace! In less than a minute he allready reached the top of the tree!
"What a beautifull scenery." From where he stood he could watch very far and see all kinds of beautifull things in mother nature.
Farsian looked south but all he could see was forest untill the horizon merged with the sky. It felt as if he was on a planet without civilization!
When he looked to the north he could barely see a clearing at the end of his sight at that clearing was the mercenary camp where he stayed previously. But then something unexpected happened! On the horizon there was a strong force, strong enugh to contord the air around it. It seemed as if the whole sky was in flames!
"Damn it has started allready!" Farsian cursed as he witnessed this spectacular scenery.
*Boom!
A shockwave spread out from that place! Farsian almost got blown off the tree, if it wasn't for his claws and his strenght he might have fallen to his death by now!
"Quick we need to hurry!" Farsian shouted down.
Mark grabbed Helena and swung her on his shoulders like some dead weight and started sprinting when he received the orders of his master. The maid and the two sisters were also hurrying along.
They had also fealt that extreem strenght from that shockwave and knew that something odd had happened. In a world with magic that could end entire continents, you didn't stay and watch when something like this happened, you started to run and hoped that what ever it was that caused this wasn't after you!
When Farsian got down from the tree his companions were allready far in the distance. He could only give an odd looking smile when he saw this, he knew that they were all very afraid right now.
He started sprinting as well and soon catched up with them. He just hoped that the wizard king didn't find out about him being the instigator of it all. If he did, Farsian could only imagine what would happen then and it didn't look good for him.
"What was that?!" Helena asked still on the shoulder of Mark who was running at top speed.
"Don't ask, you really don't want to know." Farsian gave her a look to wich she could only be silent afterwards.
Helena still kept thinking about it and came to the conclusion that she really didn't want to know what just happened. She was happy when she escaped the mercenarys and would like to stay alive for a bit longer after that.
Farsian took the lead and silently unsheathed his twin daggers. With his high dexterity he was capable to keep running while still being calm on the inside. He had detected something, something was following them since they left the mercenary camp!
"Keep running don't think about what is gonna happen next. I will soon catch up with you!" With that Farsian sprang to the right in the thick greenery.
*Clang
Something blooked his daggers. What strenght! Even if Farsian was still somewhat weakened he was still a vampire, normal humans had to train all their live to get as stong as he was in his weakened state!
He switched his blade from a defensive position into an offensive position and started attacking again, this time with more strengh. His left hand streaked in a slight ark and left afterimmages as it tryed to pierce what was in front of him. He still couldn't clearly see what was in front of him there were too many bushes and grases.
"Wai-" Someone was trying to say something but was cut of. It was a humanoid that was fighting with him. That made things much clearer, but he still didn't know what it was. Was there another species that could become this strong?
"I said WAIT!" A shadow jumped at Farsian and pushed him down.
"Joelle! It's actually you!" Farsian was shocked at the old friend that came out of nowhere.
"Shut up! You definetly allready forgot about me didn't you? When the whole city went down the drain I managed to meet up with Kaiser, we went south to escape from that monstrosity and ended up joining the Vampire Covenant of Mern." Joelle filled Farsian in on what he had missed.
After their reunion they hurried to catch up with Farsians followers. After that they would propably head for the Vampire Covenant of Mern.
