22 More Trouble 7.2
"Are you hurt Jenny." He asks brushing hair out of my face.
I nod, my head screams in pain from the impact. I rub at it. He had just saved my life again.
"Sorry, sweetheart" he raises his hand to my head where my hand is, cradling it softly.
"Why are you sorry?" I ask suddenly feeling self-conscious of our nearness and his tenderness after that passionate kiss. I feel my lips go dry.
"I should have been more careful. Does it hurt? His thumb caresses against the back of my head. Over the top of my hand. A shiver goes down the spine, my body tingles as if needles poke at me putting every inch on me on high alert. The cold wind hits me noticing that he has climbed off me taking his heat with him. I sit up watching him elegantly stand stalking over to the light fixer. I hadn't even realized people had started to gather till now when I heard the whispers and the pudgy, short middle-aged director with long brown hair tied back with silver streaks running through it came up to Maliki who was inspecting the debris of the damage. His face was more serious then I had ever seen it before as he was looking around and talking with the director.

I had stormed off because I had acted like a teenage boy unable to control myself when the girl, I likes was ignoring me. Hell, this was worse than a teenage boy with was probably going on stalker behavior how I was driven to make sure she paid attention to me, even forcing a kiss on her like a savage beast after hurting her by saying it was a job. This shit. This attitude wasn't me. Wasn't who I was. I was becoming rash, illogical, and stupid. I walked off to get my mind back in the game to talk some fucking since into myself but when I came back, I hadn't seen her and I was worried maybe they had left. Panic raised in my ears as I searched, I had tried to keep calm but my mind was going to possible the worst-case scenario.
I notice a man be lining it as I made my way around the set. I followed him noticing his unusual behavior. That's when I see her. The look on her face looking at the man something in my gut told me everything was off and I pounced shouting out catching her off guard. Hell, it caught everyone off guard. If I had been wrong, I look like an idiot. The director had no idea when I had given him the man's vague description saying he had no idea though he had many men working with him with similar features and he had no idea names or for sure looks. This man was useless how was he so flappity with his men with employees. Damn girl wish she wouldn't look at me this way. Makes me and want to become the bad guy and have my way with her looking so innocent.
The director calls for everyone to get back to work as if nothing happened. I watch annoyed as several of the staff quickly come and clean up the set removing the lighting fixture that they had rigged for this on location site and clearing the big shards of broken glass. Everyone was pulling their weight quickly. Problem was I, wasn't given a real chance to figure out what happened. The only thing I could think of was how Jenny might have been killed or seriously injured. A chill run through me. Second, I left her side she almost died. I look back to find she was no longer sitting where I had left her. Looking around I notice Miranda Escorting her back to a small makeshift changing room. Was she seriously going to continue to work as well? I follow them curious.
"That was close, are you alright Jenny?" I hear a chair being pulled out and a soft sigh, but no response.
"Let's get you fixed up, come one time to get that smile on. The world is waiting." I Listen to Miranda's joyful tone badgering at Jenny who had nearly just been killed and I wasn't going to listen any more.
"How about the fucking world can wait. She is a human being not a robot." I growl pushing open the thick curtain door. I watch her ashen white face turn red from embarrassment or anger I wasn't sure as to which at that moment. I still spoke my piece glaring at the shocked face of Jenny's manager, then back at Jenny who looks even more displeased. That's when I notice the two other woman in the room.
"I appreciate the concern," I watch as Jenny stands from the chair, she had been slumped in. Her movements elegant like a cat. "However; this was no big deal and your over reacting, accidents happen. Now if you don't mind, I need to have my stylists touch up my makeup and hair so the shoot can continue." I frown watching her try to act strong and keep calm. "Besides I'm don't like people who can't do their jobs properly and hinder progress." I feel my frown deepen more. Did she really just throw my own words from the other night back at me?
Taking a deep breath, I pull back on my reins. This was her life not mine. If she wanted to be an idiot after someone tried to kill her then that was her choice hell the old me respected her for it. However, the current me it was my job to keep her safe and track down those after her. She was not making this easy ignoring the plan just because she was angry and now still working after what just happened even though we don't know if it was intentional or not and it was far too much of a coincidence to be an accident. She was being stupid and every inkling in my body wanted me to tell her so, wanted me to blow up at her for her stupidity. I bit my tongue.
"Fine if that's how you want it." I walk out though I don't go far. I wasn't a hundred percent but I could forget that strange man and I couldn't stop thinking he had a part in this accident as she called it.
