14 His Dream, His Oath and His Life Before His Luck 2

Mozti grieved for the death of his Oska. He doesn't care taking care of his bedridden Oska for all his life. However, such circumstances on life caused him to lose her. If only he's powerful enough to protect his Oska and Nira. Now that his Oska had died, he won't let Nira follow her.

"Mozti-kun! I found a bottle of water in the trash can!" Nira exclaimed while running towards him. Nira gave the bottle to Mozti and saw the tears flowing down on his face. Nira turned her head hesitant to confirm what happened to their Oska.

After a long moment of disbelief, Nira grabbed her Oska's cold hand and cried. "No! No! No!" Nira couldn't accept the fact that her Oska was already dead. She shook her body and cried even more. "Oska, don't leave me. Oska, please. Oska! Oska! Oska..."

Mozti looked at Nira and hugged her tightly. This was the only way he knew to comfort her grieving sister. They were the only family he knew, and also the only friend he had. Mozti wiped his tears and kissed Nira's forehead. "Little Nira, don't cry anymore. We need to find a new home and bury Oska in Melicah."

Nira stared at Mozti wide-eyed. "M-Melicah? Mozti-kun we can't bury Oska in Melicah! The Jadasians will kill us!"

"I'm a Jadasian, Little Nira. I'll bury Oska in there whatever happens. Let's pack up and leave tomorrow," Mozti said full of resoluteness in his face. He wiped out his tears and stood up to find a body preserving capsule for his Oska. Mozti doesn't have any idea when he could bury his Oska.

Nira grabbed Mozti's white tattered clothes. "Mozti-kun, can you also steal me some bread?"

Mozti only gave her a placid smile and walked out. This was their life, he must steal bread to ease their hunger, steal medicine to be healthy, steal some water to ease their thirst and he must steal everything for them to survive. In a place like this, poor beings were more than rats who scavenge garbages. They don't have any rights to live. The Empire of Jadase is rich, full of resources and power. However, only those who had the citizen mark could benefit them. Mozti was lower than an ILI, whose life was dictated by its master.

Mozti wore his black robe and put his mask on. He walked stealthily in the corners of the busy market. Mozti went inside a store that sells body preserving capsules. He first looked at the labels and read through them. Some body preserving capsules could preserve the body for at least twenty years while the most expensive one could preserve bodies for fifty years at most.

Mozti called out for the clerk and asked if he could survey the fifty years' body preserving capsule. The clerk complied and summoned the one Mozti pointed to inside a holographic display screen. This was how magic and technology worked together in the Empire.

"Here is your order, sir."

Mozti nodded his head and without wasting a second, he grabbed the capsule and dashed out of the store. He put the capsule inside his necklace.

"Thief! Thief!" cried out the clerk and the alarms sounded out. Mozti quickly ran and went to grab a piece of bread displayed outside the store. Siren of the police cried once again behind him. This time he was tailed by three police mobile. They chased Mozti in all the streets and was helpless when he disappeared in a blinding light like before. All of the policewomen went back to their station angrily.

Mozti went back to their house as soon as he appeared in the same spot from before. He saw Nira still weeping on her Oska's bed. Dying is natural for any living beings, however, in his Oska's case, her death was the cause of life's unfair treatment in one's society. A nation they were living right now as a known fact, was one of the four richest, powerful, formidable and money loitering nations. The disparity of wealthy individuals to poor beings in the society was like a tall strong tree to a small unworthy weed. Money to a rich Jadasian was a mere speck of dust in a mountain. Therefore, loitering money was not an exaggeration to be used in spending it every day. On the other hand, in Mozti's current state money was worth more than a feces.

Nira lifted up her head and stared at Mozti with her reddened eyes. "Mozti-kun, what are we going to do now?"

This question was like asking if they could still live or die. For children like them without any elders on their side, was already a death sentence. What will they do? At their current state, being a beggar would already be a noble occupation. That was not a doubtful fact, honestly, waiting for their death is easier than the latter. Who in the world would tolerate to see beggars in their golden streets and stain their nation's reputation?

"Let's leave and go to Melicah," Mozti said resolutely.

Upon hearing his brother's decision, Nira staggered on her place as if it was the most ridiculous answer she ever heard. Melicah?! What in the world were you spouting?! Nira thought that they'd only bury their Oska there and leave as soon as possible. Even here in this small trading hub, we were already fishes swimming in low waters holding our last breaths! What more in the nest of crazy rich hornets?! Surely before we could find a pond, we were already fish stews! Melicah, the home planet of the Jadasians who prided themselves as omnipotent. Brother, are you bringing me to hell... Sorry, but I'll stay here to wait for my own death!

Instead of retorting over her brother's decision, Nira just clenched her fist tightly. On the other side, it was not her who raised their family for ten years. Leaving this place means going to the pits of hell. And who care?!

"Leave? I thought we leave tomorrow?" Nira asked from the sudden change of decision of her brother. They were still grieving for their Oska's death not too long ago. Now they'd leave just like that...

Mozti didn't bother replying to Nira, instead, with a flick of his hand, the body preserving capsule appeared in front of him. Nira didn't even gave any reaction after seeing this or raise any questions. As a known fact, this was how they live their life to survive the passing of a day. They steal every necessity. She saw how her brother carefully lifted up their Oska and put her body inside the body preserving capsule. Burying the body of a dead was a sign of respect and gratitude for every Jadasian. Therefore, one-fourth of Melicah's land was converted to serve as cemeteries for billions of dead Jadasians.

Nira only took a single breath to pack up. Pack up the single dress she got and the painting she had drawn with all her sweat. It's actually more of a casual drawing than a painting of her Oska, Mozti and her. This was the only memory she had with her family and was the priceless treasure she carried. Upon realizing something, she stared at her brother and raised her doubt, "Mozti-kun, we don't have money to pay a trip to Melicah."

"I do have some Thita inside my necklace," Mozti said and with a click, the whole house was filled with bright golden lights. In an instant, Mozti returned them inside once again.

It was only a blink of an eye and was sufficient for Nira to drop her jaws. This was the first time she saw Thita that much. She thinks that those Thita was enough to sustain them for a year in Melicah. That's the reason why her brother was not afraid to go in there.

"Mozti-kun, why haven't you use that money to cure Oska or at least help her with her sickness?!" Instead of admiring what she had seen, Nira was filled with rage on what her brother had done.

Mozti scratched the back of his head and heaved a long deep sigh. "Little Nira, I also offered Oska in curing her sickness but she gets angry at me. It's better to waste the money with our needs rather than curing her, that's what she said to me yesterday. The reason why we had an argument. Also, she hated being pitied," Mozti stopped for a while and looked at Nira eye to eye. "This money will also inflict doubt to the indivuduals around us if they'll investigate our background. Therefore, I never used a bit of it whatever the circumstances are."

Nodding her head, Nira, grabbed her brother's calloused hand. She knew where those sum of money came from. There's no doubting about that. "Brother, let's go?"

Mozti only gave a slight nod and led their way towards the Starrysnow Space Station. This little girl was the most important being for him aside from their deceased Oska. His oath was to protect her whatever happens.

The Starrysnow Space Station was crowded with hustle and bustle. Large crowds entered the western gates of the space station. Mozti roamed his amber eyes looking for something while Nira holds his hand tightly afraid to get lost in the crowd. The space station was entirely made up of glass. Infrastructure like this was one of the newest marvels of the Empire's Engineering. It was the most beautiful infrastructure Mozti had seen in his entire life. The space station was devoid of life but it entices anyone to come inside and be more amazed by its internal elegance.

"There!" Mozti pointed and led Nira towards the ticket booth where no one dared to approach. [Starrysnow -> Melicah] was what written above it. Nira tightened her sweating hands when she saw that her brother was truly resolute with his decision. As they came closer and closer, the pressure became more powerful that Nira couldn't lift a foot to walk towards it. Eventually, she managed to do it and they were now staring at the ticket booth that was made up of gold.

"Names!" An authoritative voice sounded inside the ticket booth.

"Efsayah Mozti Shriem and Nira Fahan Mintre," Mozti answered composed. Nira saw the emotionless face of her brother. The reason why she couldn't stop her self to giggle.

The Jadasian inside didn't mind about it and checked the holographic computer in front of him. "Shriem... Shriem... Shriem..." he muttered to himself while scrolling all the names listed inside the computer.

After a quarter of an hour, the Jadasian inside once again looked at Mozti. "Sorry, young man. You and your slave's names are not listed in Melicah's Citizen Statistics Department and both your names are also not registered in the list approved to go to Melicah. With that, you can't go to to your destination," the Jadasian explained politely.
