9 The Fifth Prince

"Brother, what made you come to my humble Kingdom?" asked a handsome man who had a puzzled expression when he saw Laquadia appeared inside his private studio. This man wore a simple carpenter's suit. He was sitting in a camouflage chair and the table in front of him was crowded with all sorts and sizes of blueprints. Some were blueprints of spacecrafts. There were also sketches of machines and weapons of mass destruction. His eyes were silver like a newly produced irons. He also had a golden crown on his head that was decorated with precious stones. Each stone was exquisitely placed signifying the 8 natural satellites of Melicah.

"Can't I see my friend?" Laquadia replied to the man in front of him. This man and Laquadia were best friends. They couldn't be separated from each other in their younger days. Both of them always do silly things that made them known as the Prince Duo. However, when they became Kings' of their own lands, they became too busy that they now treat each other as subordinates rather than friends.

"You know, the Kingdom of Thilia is always open for the King of Yoahan. Also, what are friends for. Hahahaha," the silver-eyed man laughed happily. This was Prince Pozial Limahn Zeis Jadase, the current King of the Kingdom of Thilia, and the Fifth Prince of the Empire of Jadase. His domain was made up of tall skyscrapers ranging from 2,000 - 5,000 feet from the ground to their antennas. It was sometimes called the Kingdom of Cities.

"Pozial, can you build me these cruisers and capital ships in your factories? Here are the blueprints," said Laquadia seriously. He wanted to have a new fleet under his command for the upcoming war. Laquadia gave Pozial the blueprints that looked like a 1,000 paged book. Inside were the sketches of large spacecrafts that were drawn and labeled perfectly. All the technologies and weapons to be used in the new fleet were also labeled in the blueprints he gave him. Pozial's expertise was all about building and developing machines. That's why, when he became the King of Thilia, he converted all the lands into factories that supplied the Empire with all the war machines it needed.

In fact, Pozial doesn't want to be given blueprints that were created inside a computer. This was because he believed that designing machines and spacecrafts must be drawn in hands because it was art. Sometimes, Laquadia would tease Pozial that he felt like he was making a deal with a primeval old man.

"Your waging war to the woman you love?" Pozial asked after he received the blueprints.

"I have no choice, as it was the Imperial Way," Laquadia replied without even having a second thought to what he said.

"You are the First Prince, second only to my father, the Emperor. You have many choices," Pozial exclaimed, giving him some heads up. But he understood that when the Imperial Way gave its order, it was hard to break.

"Can't you tell your father to postpone the war for 3 years?" Laquadia joked him.

"You know my father's decision, he'll always side with the Imperial Way," said Pozial casually. "And I believe you have your own plans," Pozial added and stood up from his chair and leaned on his table. He knew there's something fishy going on but he didn't bother knowing more about it.

"Can you help me in this war, my friend?" Laquadia asked Pozial seriously while looking directly at his eyes.

"In what form shall my help be needed by you?" Pozial also looked at him directly in the eyes.

"I need to take control the battlefield to ensure the authority to annex the Republic of United Elements," Laquadia answered and moved his eyes looking at the ceiling. When two Jadasians looked at each other in the eyes, it meant they were engaged in a serious negotiation.

"You meant, we go against the other Kingdoms?" Pozial asked Laquadia to confirm his guess. He knew that making this move was against the Imperial Way. If they make a faction within the Empire just to ensure that Laquadia could annex the nation of Serah. It was wrong anywhere you look at it if you were a Jadasian who was under the most respected law and could be called a religion of the Empire. This meant he would gamble knowing that he'd lose in the end. Still, Laquadia would take any possible way just to be with Serah.

"Not just the two of us, Pozial. I'll invite Desu in this gambit," Laquadia said full of resoluteness in his eyes.

"I'll help you with this 'gambit' of yours Laquadia. If only you are not the God of Mischief, I'll never agree with this stake, knowing my life is at risk."

Pozial knew all the things that Laquadia had done in the past. He caused troubles and sometimes tragedies when his father, the late Emperor was still alive. Now, that he thought of it. He looked at Laquadia full of sympathy.

"Did you find the assassins who killed your father, my friend?"

"It was not only my father who died Pozial. Uncle Cleo was also in that tragedy," Laquadia said listless and walked to the other side of the room.

"The Empire is still in terror after the death of the two prominent Jadasians in a single day, 27 years ago. The reason why my father is heavily guarded even I, his own son, cannot approach him without a thorough inspection," Pozial followed him leaning on the wall listless and looked at Laquadia and continued, "Sorry my friend, that it caused the Empire to blame Serah and her race after the explosion. As you understand, they will always suspect anyone they wanted to. Unfortunately, the Republic of United Elements is one of them."

Those were the facts on the current state of the Empire. Pozial doesn't have any ill intentions to make Laquadia feel unhappy. He was just stating the obvious facts. "Do you still remember anything after the explosion? If you had died on that day; your father, the Emperor and his brother 3 years after. There's only one nation I suspect who done it, Laquadia," Pozial added full of suspicion.

"The Guimduras Republic..." Laquadia said and whispered the rest of his words.

"And on what I heard, the Republic of United Elements is allying with them," Pozial continued giving some of the information he gathered.

When Laquadia heard it, he closed his eyes and sighed deeply. If this information was true, every effort he had done would be put into waste. Still, he believed that the Republic of United Elements could never do it as they were peace-loving sorcerers.

"Sometimes, you'll need to give up knowing you are helpless," Pozial said to him reading his thoughts.

Laquadia turned his head to look at Pozial. "What's the purpose of living this life if you give up trying?" He understood what his friend meant in saying those words. Though, he loved Serah as well as making an adventure in the process.

Pozial chuckled softly and went back to his table. "The First Prince is still the same all these years," he said opening all the blueprints Laquadia had given him.

"How much am I going to pay you?" Laquadia replied without thinking about what his friend had said to him. Laquadia knew that this project he gave to the Kingdom of Thilia needed a vast amount of resources and money and he was prepared for all of this. What's the meaning of having a great Kingdom without any deep source of money?

"150 billion Thita," (The pronunciation of this was like 'Titan' without "n") Pozial answered him casually.

Thita was the currency of the Empire, it was made up of Quazimor and Desul trees that had been shaped to look like a typical round object. The Desul tree bark surrounds the Quazimor which looked like a tiny sun the size of a thumb. This was what Thita looked like.

"I want it all finished and operational within 7 years. As for the payment, I'll send it tomorrow," Laquadia said in a business-like attitude to Pozial. He knew when to address his friend seriously and casually.

"My factories can finish all of them within 5 years, Laquadia," replied Pozial in the same manner.

"It is settled then. I must see the new recruits. Deisham' s order," Laquadia said full of disgust that made Pozial laugh softly. "Also, never forget our deal."

"Are you sure you want to fight her?" Pozial asked him nonchalantly. He knew his friend, he was never ready to fight her.

"Someday... I will," Laquadia said before vanishing in thin air.

"You'll never be, cousin," Pozial said sighing before calling his Royal Engineers to start the construction of Yoahan's new fleet.

Pozial scanned the blueprint and admired everything within. After finishing what he must do, Pozial looked at the location where Laquadia had vanished and smiled. His silver eyes penetrated the walls around him and admired the night sky of his Kingdom. "Someone who can't be replaced by the universe; is someone you'll call your home. Imperial Way No. 21. My friend, Serah is your home, not Jadase."
