258 Ch. 258 I Won't Give Up

Niken was standing looking towards the evening view where the sun would set. When she arrived at the Wolf clan for the first time, Niken had not had the chance to enjoy this place's beautiful scenery.

She ran away after finding out that Kazuto killed her sister with his own hand, then she was kidnapped by Yang Shuo and taken to the vampire realm.

After she came to her senses thanks to Zephyr's help, Niken felt lighter as if the whole burden of thoughts that had filled her head had just been lifted.

Even though Niken currently looked fine and healthy, Niken and Kazuto knew that Niken's body was not okay. She only had ten to fifteen years left, and her stamina wasn't as strong as before.

Niken had to be twice as careful when practicing cultivation energy and activating her magic circle.

If only her brother found out that she had less than twenty years, what would that man do?

Niken could imagine how unhappy her brother would be to learn that she would die young because she would have felt the same sorrow if that had happened to Richard.

Niken was still too engrossed in enjoying the view of this place when Kazuto approached her from behind. She couldn't feel the man's presence at all because she had locked her magic flow channel so she wouldn't have to use up her cultivation energy.

Right now, her condition was fragile, and she couldn't draw out his cultivation energy or magic even though she only used it to enhance her sixth sense.

But when the two sturdy arms wrapped around her waist and followed by an overcoat covering her body, she knew that it was Kazuto who had hugged her from behind.

"What are you doing here? The wind outside is frigid. I'm afraid you will fall ill."

"The scenery here is breathtaking. I want to enjoy it a little longer before we head south."

"We can postpone our departure and stay here for a few more days. You know that, right?"

She didn't know when Muyun and the white knights would attack her again, and she didn't want to be a burden to his friends. Not that she would. Right now, she has become a burden because she carelessly cut her own lifespan.

Sorry, because I can't be with you forever. Niken said softly in her mind without knowing that Kazuto could read her thoughts through their mind-linking.

Kazuto's embrace tightened, and his expression darkened when he heard her bitter thought.

"Niken, I will not give up. I will find a way to extend your life, so please… don't give up," begged Kazuto while sank his head into Niken's neck.

Kazuto already felt very sorry when he had to face his beloved sister's death with his own hands. He felt helpless because he could not protect the only family he had.

His heart will be broken, and he was sure that this time he would not be able to escape from the black energy that grips his heart if Niken dies before his eyes. He felt inadequate if he had to face the loss a second time. Niken was his soul mate. That girl was a part of his whole life. Be would better die rather than live without the girl.

If the source of his strength and happiness were no longer in this world, Kazuto would be no different from a walking undead.

Kazuto did not make a sound and only hugged his inamorata in silence, but Niken could feel and hear Kazuto's heart screams because their mind-linking was still connected.

Niken felt guilty and sorry for her thoughts of giving up and letting fate determine the course of her life.

She remembered her promise to herself that she wanted to bring a joyful laugh to Kazuto's expression. She remembered that she didn't want to see Kazuto fall back into the pit and give him life with a million smiles and laughter.

Niken loosened Kazuto's hug on her stomach, and then she turned around to stare at the man's expression. Her heartfelt like a knife cut when she saw the troubled gaze of her lover.

Niken's hands rose and cupped the man's face gently while offering her best smile.

"Forgive me. I will not think negatively like that. You are right. I'm still very young, and my life is still long. I won't let my age separate me from you." she said in a reassuring tone.

Kazuto gripped Niken's hand and shifted his head to land his lips on the girl's smooth palm, while his other hand wrapped around Niken's waist and pulled her closer.

"I love you, Niken. I won't be able to survive if you leave my side."

"I won't," Niken answered convincingly and brought a smile as Kazuto pressed his forehead against hers.

Kazuto tilted his head and looked for something he wanted, while Niken tilted her head slightly to give her lover what she wanted.

The two of them kissed each other just as the sun was setting, and fireflies were flying around them.

Meanwhile, in another place, Muyun decides to lure Niken out of her hiding place by catching her mo spirit.

Skylar, the white knight, had just told him that Xiao Yue's mo spirit was none other than Richard.

Right now, Muyun might not be able to fight Richard as a fellow mo spirit because his master was still unconscious. But he was sure Richard would not be able to win against the darkened heart white knight.

That was why Skylar went to the southern frontier and waited for the right time to capture Richard without interference from the other Elementalist Knights.
