51 Walter
A few moments before the meeting has started, Cray had remembered one of the things that he had pushed back deep into his head.
Before he had managed to sleep last night, he could faintly remember hearing the sound of Note saying something about the update or whatever it was. Seeing that he didn't have anything urgent to do, he decided to go and check it out.
"Note? Can you hear me?" Cray thought to himself while comfortably sitting on top of a wooden chair.
"Affirmative, host." Note's timely reply assured Cray as he eased his shoulders upon the cushion that was on the backrest of the wooden chair.
"Last night, you said something about the system and the clearance being updated right? Can you tell me more about it?"
Immediately after saying so, Cray regretted his decision as his vision suddenly darkened and his surrounding began to change.
The sudden change in his environment had slightly made Cray dizzy, but his attention was soon grabbed by the fact that he saw his Grandfather, Walter.
Except, this time, his face looked weary. His clothes had a couple of tears and torn. He was adorned with a military uniform.
"Sire, urgent report! one King Ranked monster and a hundred and five Lord Class Monsters are spotted!" A Soldier who was wearing a similar uniform relayed this information to Walter.
Near him were similar people who were wearing the same military uniforms which also appears to have been through something rough. The group of ragtag people were all wearing dejected faces. The atmosphere was depressing which was further highlighted by the eerie silence.
"Everyone, I'm afraid that we may not make it..."
The silence that had permeated into the air was now broken apart by the words of Cray's grandfather.
"But, we have no other choice. If nobody else will do it then we have to do it by ourselves."
Simply by saying these words illuminated the light of hope in the eyes of the people around Walter. He, with his resolute and firm stance, made a declaration towards the horde of monsters that were on their way marching towards the wall that they were setting their foot upon. Despite the fact that most of their supplies are now used, with no prospects of being rescued nor any sign of reinforcements, the men vowed to fight untill their very last breath.
His mere silhouette appeared glorious. With his rough breathing, he held tightly his sword and he shouted at the top of his lungs. "WE SHALL NOT LET ANY SINGLE ONE OF THESE MONSTERS PASS THE PORTAL!!!"
The moment he did, the remaining soldiers echoed cheers to fire themselves up. Despite this, he already knew that the people who were with him now may never make it. He already knew that reinforcements may not even come as the Empire had already left them to die.
But still, he had already committed himself that he would stay here since it was his duty not as a mere knight of the empire, but as a father who would protect the home that he had created for his children. He had no other choice but to just brave it all out.
Without wasting another minute, his body was then enveloped by blue colored flames. He then lifted his right hand which was holding onto his sword.
Eventually, the flames began to shift from his body all the way to cover every point of his sword. He then thought about his wife, his two sons. Everything about his life began flashing back to him as he holds out one of his strongest moves
He then looked at one of the men who had previously reported to him. He gave him a nod until all of a sudden he leapt over the wall and launched his own fierce assault against the monsters.
Everyone who saw this was dumbfounded. Who would be so stupid to let go of their strategic defensive advantage? But, none of them could simply retort as they know that the man who had just jumped was the strongest of them all.
All that they could do was wish him well.
After disappearing from the wall, Walter immediately went through the monster horde and plowed through each and every one of them as if they were just mere ants standing on the way of an elephant.
His direction was pointed straight towards the location of the King Ranked Monster. Out of all of them, this was the most dangerous enemy that they would ever face. He could have surely hunted this monster if not for the hundred other Lord Ranked monsters that were scattered around it.
But, as he was pressed by time, he had no other choice but to do it. One after another, his blade ran down and created monster corpses and laid waste to four Lord Ranked monsters already. He was a mere kilometer away from being able to lay his hand upon the King Rank Monster, yet he was already feeling exhausted.
Despite this, he carried on, step, by step. After more than a hundred steps he had met a huge Worm who was leading the Monster horde. He immediately swung his sword and bisected it into two.
However, he knew that a King Ranked monster wouldn't simply die without a trick or two on its sleeve. So he took distance and at the same time, the body of the worm began healing at a fast visible rate. Eventually, the worm that has been bisected has now regenerated its body parts and was now back to its earlier state.
"Tisk, this would take too long....." After half a second, without any hesitation, he decided to end it within a minute. As a mere minute was all it would take for the current horde to engage with the remaining thousands of soldiers that are left.
He then used all of his remaining power to burn the enemy before it could regenerate completely. He screamed with all his might and lunged his body towards it and a white flash occurred blinding everybody from seeing anything.
Eventually, everything got dark again and Cray was now left sitting back on his wooden chair.
