In the command room of Ye Chen, an eerie silence could is all that could be heard. Everyone held their breaths as the report of the number of the Empire's troops was announced.
Everyone's foreheads were sweating bullets. This time they knew. The Empire wasn't taking them seriously before. The sheer size of their reinforcements blew away their previous misconceptions of the Empire being weaker.
Only one man who was sitting leisurely on a chair adorned with golden linings was sipping a cup of tea. This man is Ye Chen. He had never underestimated the Empire thus he wasn't surprised by their counter-attack. In fact, he was still expecting more to come as this was probably just their first wave of troops sent to quell a puny rebellion.
He had long known that if he was going to actually take over the Whole Eastern Continent then he would face not just the region itself but instead the whole fore of the Empire, And this feat did not only need a lot of manpower, he would also need a lot of resources. Although he had conquered some land on the Eastern Continent doesn't mean that he could immediately take full control over its resources.
The residents are still a bit hesitant to work alongside him. The reason was that all of them had mostly been brainwashed completely by the Empire. This was a big hindrance to Ye Chen as he desperately needed a larger amount of people who'll work for his cause.
Unfortunately, the Empire had long dominated the people's hearts and its ruling had become the norm thus the people who were living a relatively safe lifestyle would take a long time before they accept this new ruler from who knows where.
On the current frontlines of Ye Chen's troops, a woman could be seen observing them nearby. She wore an elegant dress that perfectly matched her hair that was tied up in a ponytail. Her calm demeanour showcased her beauty as a cool and collected woman.
On her side was a girl who closely resembled her. She was holding a parasol as she stood beside her elder sister. Although her beauty would pale in comparison with her sister, she would obviously have a lot more potential as she was still growing up.
"Sister, did we actually picked the wrong side in this war? I mean, how are we ever going to win against the Empire like this?" Her face showed an annoyed expression as she intentionally increased her voice so that she would be overheard.
The woman in beside her didn't seem to put her words to her mind as she kept on staring at the current state of the battlefield. On her forehead, a drop of sweat was forming even though she was standing in a place with shade. Despite this, she was keenly looking not willing to miss any detail.
She had now been standing there for nearly five minutes without budging and this had irked her sister who was feeling very bored after seeing her sister just watching them without reacting. If she was alone then she would've long left as she won't be able to stand the heat and the boring sight but since she was with her sister she knew that there was something that has attracted her sister if not she would not have even stood this long just to watch some men die.
After another ten minutes, Rica could no longer stand it so she went ahead and asked her sister to go back inside instead but before she was even able to say anything she noticed that her sister's mouth curved into a smile so she followed her line of sight and similarly, her eyes widened at the sight that her sister was looking at.
On the other side of the world, after Hannah had agreed to the offer that Alect had offered, she was once again wearing her uniform and was walking at the headquarters of the Chivalric Order of the Silver Wings.
Her just walking there made people stare at her, not because of her being an outstanding beauty or anything, it was because of her uniform. What she was wearing was the uniform of greenhorns and would usually be seen only at the training camp. This resulted in her attracting a lot of attraction and had made her really uncomfortable with all the stares, especially if there were some gazes that weren't friendly looking.
After she had reached the end of the hall, she had reached a large door adorned with a decoration of a silver wing that was stretched just like how a birds' would look like if looked from a certain angle.
She then calmed herself as she breathed out a sigh as she proceeded to knock on the door. As soon as she had finished knocking, the door was instantly opened and then popped out Alect's face as she welcomed her with a warm smile.
"You finally got here. What took you so long?" She then let her get in the room as she pointed at a chair.
"I'm sorry I got lost midway." Hannah bashfully said in a low voice as she blushed while explaining. Seeing her reaction made Alect laugh at the silly reason Hannah gave.
"No worries, after adjusting then you'd get used here in no time." She patted her shoulders as she had finished containing her laughter. "Afterall you are my squire! If you can't even get in here on time then that would simply mean that I had been in the wrong for choosing a worthless person like you. Well, you aren't that kind of person....right?"
Suddenly hearing her speak like that spooked Hannah to the very core as she now kept in mind never to be late again. She then nodded as she could no longer bear to even give out an answer orally.
"Great! Then I guess we should start now that you're here." Alect then proceeded to her desk as she took out some pieces of paper from her desk.
"I've taken a look at your records so far and I've got to say your fitness index is really high for a person born and raised in a rundown place like Sector 9. For that, I guess your parents finally made a good job giving birth to someone like you." She then switched the paper as she cast another look at Hannah.
"Say, you've never even had your own parasite right? In fact, just by the way you're looking confused at the term parasite I can already guess that you've never even heard of it." She then sighed as she looked at her.
"Well, I guess you really have good luck. Your body can already be compared to one that had taken a level two parasyte and at a high grade at that." She then smiled as she put the papers in her hand on top of the desk as she moved closer towards Hannah.
"You know, I'd really love to know how you've managed to have this kind of body." She then caressed her cheeks and closed in on Hannah. Her lips almost touching her ears. "If you don't want to tell me then that's fine, I can just force it out of you."
All strands of hair on Hannah's body felt like standing. She was scared, this feeling couldn't even compare to the feeling that the wolf had given her.
"Even I don't know!" This was all that Hannah could think about which she had also unconsciously said while facing the pressure that Alect was giving her.
After hearing her reply, Alect then sighed as she stood back and disappointedly looked at Hannah. "You're no fun. I was just joking, okay?"
