27 Trial of Fire

When I realized it I'm once again in the dark corridor. In the corridor, I could see a roundtable with five chairs around it.

There were three men who were sitting leaving only two chairs on the far left as they looked at the screen in front of them. I too started looking at the screen only to see me.

"Eh? Is that me? But since when can I do that?" I was doubtful because I knew that I could never shoot out black flames from my hands. I then remembered when my father showed me his power. Isn't this the same as the one that he used?

While I was thinking I heard a voice calling me to go and sit.

"Oh, Funf? You're already here huh. I see, why don't you sit here with grandpa?" Though he said that he's a grandpa his voice didn't even sound like it should be coming from a grandpa. Regardless I still sat towards one of the empty chairs that were near the table.

"No, not there. You can't sit on that. You sit on the other one." A man who was wearing frames told me as he pointed towards the farthest seat. "Uhm... Yeah, sure."

As I sat I noticed that it was actually quite comfortable seating in my chair. "So, do you know why you're here right now?" The man who was on the very right asked me with a very chilling tone.

"Uhmm, can you give me a clue? I'm sorry I really don't know." What's with this situation? Why are they looking at me like that? Anyways this isn't my first time being inside this dark corridor and the reason that I was here was because I was captured by the enemy.

Oh, I see- "I died, didn't I?" What did I just say?

I immediately took a quick glance at my neck and touched it. "It's gone." I then looked at my arms and legs with a similar expression. There weren't even marks left.

"Hey boy! Can you pay a little attention towards the current situation?" The man with the glasses quickly reminded me that I'm still in front of these strangers.

"I'm sorry, it's just that I'm so confused about all that's happening right now. I really don't know what's happening anymore."

The man who had just scolded me made a sigh. He doesn't seem pleased with me.

"Is this really our fifth descendant? He doesn't look like he has any sort of power whatsoever." He continued to grumble. Somehow that kinda hurts. This man is really rude, I don't even know the current situation, yet you still tell me this and tell me that. If only you just tell it to me already then, I wouldn't have to be this clueless.

I was a bit sad about how I was being treated. I really didn't like people getting mad at me. If only they knew how I'm feeling right now...

"My son he- No, you see our father is supposed to be seated here." He pointed at the chair that I initially tried to sit down on.

"Do you have any clue as to why he isn't here right now?" The man with glasses then continued to ask me.

"No I really don't have an ide- Wait, could it be?" I once again took a peek at the screen that was in front of me. "Is he controlling my body right now?" This was the only thing that I could think of. Though it sounded so unreal. It was the only thing that came to mind when I tried to connect the dots together.

'Yes, your father is currently burning his last embers for the sake of making you survive." The man who said that had a very sad look in his eyes. It was as if he was seeing something that made him really sad.

"Embers?" I unconsciously tilted my head towards the side as I asked. "Are you referring to the flame that he's is using?"

"Your father is using his flame imprint that he left in the necklace that you were wearing, every time that he uses the flames that he stored in it the weaker his soul imprint becomes. And once that imprint is completely gone then he would no longer be able to sustain himself here."

"Eventually leading his existence to the abyss. And so will everything that was stored in here." The man that was the furthest away from me added. His cold voice was deadly serious.

"The reason why you were summoned here is to succeed him. Taking in the case that his entire existence would disappear in the worst-case scenario, you are to take on his everything." The rude man wearing the spectacles continued.

"Wait, what do you mean by taking on his everything?" What's with that tone? It's as if he's coercing me. I definitely did not sign up for this. They're acting as if I'd do what they say. I still haven't agreed on anything.

Right before I was able to argue with them,

"AHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhh WHa- WHAt is this? WHy AM I Floating?" I desperately hold unto my chair, but my hands had slipped from its handle.

My whole body was dragged from the chair all the way towards the five doors that were previously locked. I'm headed towards the one marked with Vier.

The door then widely opened as my body accelerated towards it. Then all of a sudden,

*BANG*

The door had slammed shut, leaving me inside a very dimly lit room.

"Where is this?"

"HEY!"

"Can anyone hear me?"

"LET ME OUT!"

"LET ME OUT OF HERE!"

But nobody had replied.

Back to where the three men were still seated, the man wearing the glasses had asked the man who claimed to be Cray's grandfather.

"Are you sure about this? What if he can't take it all on his own? He is the only descendant left you know?"

"I know, but didn't you hear what Vier said? The kid really had the greatest compatibility with him, he would probably be able to use all of his powers even if he takes on the trial of fire."
