40 King of Faeries

Magnificently dark. And here they thought that the wolves are the darkest creatures to be feared. No one expected that the King of the Faeries can conjure something like what they see.

Master of the nature he is. He can shake the soils, wreck what stands on it, even the sky had darkened above them. Flashes of lighting appeared making the scene more frightening than what it already is.

Not far above from them the clock tower crushed to the ground, the sound of it crushing almost deafening their ears. Still, the King remained as he is, this time floating in his magnificent breathtakingly white pair of wings.

Karl look below at what he had done, not feeling a bit of remorse. His eyes gradually came back to its natural color from being pitch black.

The earthquake halted and the flashes of lighting disappeared. The whole island is covered in darkness and families clutched each other in fear. But the King descended from where he was and disappeared from their sight.

It took a long time before they moved and gathered themselves. Until they felt that the King had gone, no one dared to breath deep. Slowly the faeries brought out dust to light them. Some have tried to rebuild their house, while some have tried to save what was left. The elves work on a shelter for those who had their houses shattered. The dwarves busied themselves cooking soup in the bonfire they made. The night had become too cold and silent, even the children dare not cry in fear.

Those who live in the island realized that indeed, they must fear the King of Faeries most. But imprisoned here they are, they cannot warn the others outside. The wolves may be brutal and merciless but it is Karl Montefalco who can raise hell on earth.

Karl found himself at the border of the realm he had made as his home. Unable to decide whether to come or not.

He wanted to know why. More than being a faerie that is governed by his family, she is his enlisted mistress. A potential wife. Why did she betray him?

Why would the faeries rebel against them? They weren't enslaved. Compare to other clans, the faeries have it best. They never have to live poor, they can live a life freely better than a commoner.

Only that when chosen as a concubine they have to serve their time.

She didn't even repulsed his touch, he almost believed she liked it too. Then why?!

Does she really love that wizard? His anger is threathing to rise again with that thought but he controlled himself in time.

Before he knew it he is walking the path inside the forest. He remembered when he brought her here. How her face glowed in appreciation of the place. He knew she grew up and stayed in Kyoto, and this place will suit her best.

He thought of how he carried her like a newlywed into the house, and prepare her dinner. How they teased the next day, and made love the whole night.

He had to know. Is she guilty? If she denied her involvement will he believe her? But what if she come clean and admit it? Will he be able to take it then?

Confused. Hurt. And angry. Never before had he experienced this feeling. Even when Rick was born and they had to be separated from their parents, he wasn't confused or hurt.

The dawn was breaking when he approached the glass villa. Still he didn't set foot inside right away. He was standing outside when he noticed her sleeping in the hammock at the garden. Why is she there and not upstairs in bed?

This irked him a lot and he approached her to wake her up.
