28 She is gone
He jumped from the cliff into the beach below and swam to where the portal was but he was too late. Only the fading trace of magic lingers. He can't even recognize the magic used.
He look around him frantically! No! She can't be gone! No!
The man took over the beast in him, still in a wolf's form but now this wolf will be controlled by him.
It can't be her. She know nothing!
He ran to the Montefalco's state. She's there, she has to be. He ran fast and wild his sight in a blur. He arrived panting but he didn't care. He ran up to her room. It is his first time to enter her bedroom, he searched in frantic. When he can't find her, he searched all rooms. Until the only ones untouched are Karl's room, study and the nanny's room.
He left Karl's room, no one can enter it even if someone use magic. The study is locked and its been years since Rick tried to enter it. In front of Nanny's room, he breathe several times before knocking.
He knocked and knocked, but he got no response.
Unable to wait any longer he turn the knob and finding it unlocked, pushed the door open.
But Nanny is sound asleep. However, before he could turn away he smelled the faint scent of a potion. Any other wizard will not detect it, but being the wolf that he is, his senses are heightened than the commoners.
He came closer to the old woman and indeed, she is under a sleeping potion!
His heart hammered against his chest. He tried reaching Karl, but he can't trace him. He gave the house another run while trying to trace Karl.
If only magic can reply to him, the answer might be the same as the response of the telephone operator, whose number he is trying to reach has been turned off.
Karl is not here, he can't be reached, is he with a mistress of his? Nanny is forced to sleep, Rick's mini cooper is outside. Just where in the island she could be?
He refuse to accept that it was her he saw disappeared at the sea. She won't leave him. She can't.
Marco refused to cry. He ran around the whole island. He stopped where she used to shop, sit or eat. Some had closed already as late as it is. But he never stopped searching. She might be home already, so he came back there. Or she might have come to me, so we went home. He did this countless time through the night. He tried reaching Karl over and over again to no avail.
Until all these searching in addition to his first time shifting had taken its toll on him. He lay exhausted on the floor of his porch.
When his human form came back at sunrise the first thing he did is reach a phone, not to get dressed. He called his parents.
His mother had to call his name several times before he found his voice.
"She's gone. Mom, she's gone--" and he cried uncontrollably.
"Whose gone? Marco!" His mother became frantic at his hysterics.
After awhile Marco stopped sobbing and in a broken voice answered his mother.
"Franchesca. She's taken away."

Madame Morteza was unable to process the information right away. So she passed the phone to her husband.
Marco seemed to calm a little when he heard his father's voice and he recalled what occured that night.
His father ask him to try to rest and promised to take over the matter. After the call, they summoned the Montefalco couple immediately. A meeting of The Order is scheduled in half an hour. Karl's parents sent him emergency signals until he picked up.
The headquarters is in chaos. Each clan has ordered the mobility of their army. All the wolves are searching for Franchesca globally. Nanny upon waking up is locked down, as she in under investigation. Because as a faerie herself, how could she not "avoid" a sleeping potion?
All the magical creatures move about in fear, afraid of being implicated and result to their death.
Karl went back to the island, personally guarding the sleeping spirit of his sister. Now that her physical body is lured out, whoever that guy is must be targetting her spirit next.
While Marco is devastated. He can't accept that Franchesca left. She must have been brainwashed, or forced. Determined to get her back, he asked his parents to send him into an extreme training in magic. The Order is responsible in getting her back. He can only make use of his time by getting stronger, so that when she is found, she won't be able to leave.
Even if he has to bind her in chains.
