20 Beacon of Ligh

As Issac and Barret were resting in the infirmary. The image showed the night location around, with two moons hovering in the sky. It was a vast forest with hundreds of trees. The sound of wildlife was heard, not far off from white colored tents. However inside the tents were crevices leading to the real base underneath the ground. Outside looking to the sky was Xiao. Her hair blew slightly with the wind. Stationed behind her was one of the two cruisers, covered under the branches of a tree.

"They should be arriving soon... The coordinates should give them a bird's eye view where we are. At least this new base should be more obscure from the Kaos workers." Xiao spoke to herself, waiting.

Some footsteps were heard walking across the dirt ground, moving in direction of Xiao. Xiao turned her attention over. It was a group of six people. Amongst them was a green haired teenager, they wore clothes that were baggy, causing confusion on their gender. Beside them was a younger boy, with black hair carrying lightning streaks in it. He wore black and yellow clothes, as well as headphones with fox ears, and a fake tail. Walking behind them was an odd looking alien girl, with grey skin. She had white hair, and wore mostly yellow. In the front of the teens, was a man in a top hat, with silver hair. He was in steam punk attire, and appeared to be in good spirits. At the lead was two men, one with black,and blond hair, wearing torn clothes, with tattoo sleeves, and lines on his face. The main man Xiao focused on had long black hair, wearing white and gold plated armor, with a red cape.

"Ah Director Xiao, we've finally arrived." The man with long black hair, states to her.

"Medatros, It's be quite some time. I see both Denki and Eugene accompanied you as well. Though, who might the other three be?" Xiao greeted.

"Oh yes, the girl with the silver hair is Rune, as for the other two. Denki, if you would." Medatros states holding his posture.

Denki, the man with the tattoos, glanced over. "The kid is my son Shockz, and the other is my protégé, Katinka. They're here for on field training under supervision."

"Oh right, Elementar culture and all. Well, I am happy to have all of your support. Would you care to come inside? We can discuss this more with our other allies, when they decide to join for talks." Xiao explained.

Medatros nods to Xiao's statements, forming a slight grin. "Quite a location, we had to station our ship a little ways from here. It would seem this place carries great cover from the enemy?"

"Oh yes, I apologize about that. We had to relocate due to an invasion not too long ago. We are still under reconstruction, but I hope it won't bother you, and your company too much." Xiao chuckled, but started coughing slightly, holding a handkerchief to her mouth.

"I see, I'm glad to see you're okay, although that cough has me worried. We should hurry, and get you inside. It's chilly out." Medatros suggested.

Eugene rushes up to the side of Medatros . He pushes him aside holding to Xiao's hand. "Sir Medatros, please allow me to look her over. I am the best in this kind of field." Eugene stated proudly, grinning to Xiao.

"Eugene..." Xiao placed away the handkerchief, hiding it slightly. "I can assure you, that I am fine."

Eugene became silent, letting off of Xiao's hand. "Hmm perhaps...However...Might I inspect your handkerchief later?"

Medatros pulls Eugene back to his side. "Mind your manners, if you insist on acting this way. I'll send you right back to Vectrom." Medatros states to Eugene sternly.

"Oh? What would you then do without a doctor? That is what I am. Besides Terra is full of dreadful things that can make any Elementar squirm with fear! Not to mention make you feel ill." Eugene spouted.

Denki shoved Eugene slightly to the side, getting between the two. "Just sayin' doc, You're bananas. Human sickness ain't gonna effect us, unless you sleep with 'em." Denki raised a brow.

Eugene growls. "I BEG YOUR PARDON? Are you suggesting I want to sleep with Xiao?!"

"S'cuse me. I ain't the one who interpreted what I said, that way. If you gotta say it, then that's your beef." Denki scoffed.

"Eugene....If you keep up this fiasco, I'll send you back to Vectrom, and have Queen Ailene appoint a more suitable, sound, physician." Medatros scolded.

Eugene swallows nervously, "If I may have one more inquiry?" Eugene asks, holding up his index finger.

Medatros simply grabs Eugene by his collar, dragging him off beside Xiao. "We should hurry inside. I apologize for his behavior."

"Oh, it's quite alright." Xiao sweated slightly.

Denki followed after Medatros, with the kids and the alien girl. Xiao sighed, going after them. Inside Denki looked over to the teenagers.

"Go look around or somethin', I'll deal with the business here. Got it?" Denki said, looking to Shockz and Katinka.

"Alright got it." Shockz states, adjusting his headphones.

"I'll keep the twerp out of trouble then." Katinka sighed, crossing her arms.

"Can it, Katinka. I can take care of myself." Shockz says, looking off forming a puffy face.

"Yeah, take care helping yourself to trouble." Katinka rolled her eyes.

"Hey. Quit the arguing, and get a move on it." Denki looked over, sternly.

Shockz sighs nodding to Denki's command. "Yes dad."

Katinka shoves Shockz along, and they get to a hallway out of earshot. "...What's the deal with your dad. He's so uptight all the time..." She mutters.

"Oh, well business. You heard them talking when we got down here, duh." Shockz states fixing his headphones around his neck. "Also don't push me around. I can handle myself."

Katinka smacks him upside the head. "Moron. Obviously it's about your mom going missing. Don't be such a guy. I swear, bunch of idiots."

"We're NOT idiots!" Shockz snapped, but looked off. "Oh well yeah..Though wasn't Kaos an Elementar organization? Why would they mess with mom? I mean that is why we're here, right? ... Crap, talking with you is making my head hurt. I'm going out into the woods." Shockz says, wandering ahead of Katinka.

Katinka grabbed his ear. "Not so fast, fox-boy. I'm older, so you got to listen to what I say. Yes, we're here to deal with Kaos. If they are behind why your mom went missing, then some serious shit has to be going down. More reason to not run off like a dunce."

"The only reason you're treating me this way, is so you can get on my dad's good side! I bet if you weren't his student, things would be going the other direction. Course, I'd have to stand between that. My dad's not some pedophile." Shockz says, rubbing his head.

Katinka casts out some lightning at Shockz from her wires. He gets hit, falling to the ground. Katinka had anger veins pulsing, "I swear! You are a big, stupid, idiot! Your dad is old enough to be my dad too, moron!"

"Ouch, just because you have issues with your dad, doesn't give you the right to bash mine! Jerk face." Shockz says, rubbing his butt.

"Loser." Katinka looked boredly to him. "Is that really all you can think up for a come back?"

Shockz rushes off from Katinka, into the forest.

"..." Her eyebrow twitches. "I swear.... stupid brat." She mutters, rushing after him.

Back inside the base, Xiao was joined by Medatros, Denki, Eugene and Rune.

"Hmm, this is quite a compound... fairly small as well... The situation you explained however, seems pretty dire. We might have to bring more forces, if things start to get further out of hand." Medatros explains.

Eugene sighs to himself, in annoyance. "Are we nearly to the labs? I'm interested in meeting the technician of the power gloves."

"Always eager, aren't you." Rune spoke up behind Eugene.

Eugene laughs to himself, "One can never be too eager, when it comes to SCIENCE!"

"Science. Nature. It is all rather amusing, no?" Rune smiled.

Eugene looks to Rune, "Oh? Ha ha ha! There is quite a vast world in the studies of science, maybe I can show you how it works. Which is a 'KEY' point to the term! Wonder and mystery!"

"Sounds delightful." Rune replied.

"Fugetaboutit geeks. We got a job to do, and you're talking science. Honestly." Denki grumbled, pocketing his hands.

"Fine you'll see why studying would have helped you in the future. You might be laughing now, but at least I don't speak with such, vulgar, uneducated mannerisms." Eugene gawked.

"I ain't laughing." Denki sneered.

Eugene laughs, "'I AIN'T LAUGHING' You say, you know it's funny."

Medatros turns around to them. "EUGENE!" He yelled to him, in thunderous manner.

Eugene jumps, "S-Sorry!" Eugene asks, cowering a little bit.

"Well, seems things haven't changed much with you boys. Anyway, here we are." Xiao opened the door to Asuna's lab. "Asuna, the Lighton federation are here." She said, walking inside.

Asuna glanced over, with a smirk. "Oh you're joshing me." She said, walking a distance from Zihark, over to Xiao and the group.

"Allow me to introduce our lead scientist, Asuna Foundren." Xiao introduced.

"For Pete sake, you're embarrassing me." Asuna giggled.

"Foundren? Interesting I know another who carries that same last name. It must be coincidence." Medatros states, placing a hand to his chin. "It's an honor to meet you."

"Oh silly Billy, it would be impossible if it wasn't a coincidence. I am human after all." Asuna giggled, placing her hands to her hips.

Eugene moves his goggles over his eyes inspecting Asuna. "You're quite a spunky little scientist! You'll be fun to work around! I'm enjoying this already!"

Denki held his temples, "... Sheesh."

Asuna grinned mischievously, "Oh steady Eddie, you have yet to see my legacy at work."

"I CAN'T WAIT!!!" Eugene says, to Asuna placing on a large grin.

"You'll have to wait for now, curious George. I need to make some repairs to my boyfriend. He's the reason everyone got out safety on two occasions"." Asuna giggled, waltzing over to Zihark.

"REPAIRS? BOYFRIEND!? Those two words go together quite awkwardly. Would you mind refreshing your statement?" Eugene asked to Asuna.

Asuna grabbed to Zihark's arm, looking over. "Okay Simple Simon. This here is my boyfriend, Zihark. He's both a defense android, as well as my Boo-boo. Even a boozy Suzie should be able to understand that statement." Asuna giggled.

Medatros thought to himself, keeping his straight face, "(Boo-boo?)"

"Wait, you mean BOYFRIEND,BOYFRIEND? Giving him a name like 'boo-boo' is quite interesting. I'M GOING TO LOVE THIS! You've managed to create a living robotic boyfriend!? It even operates on command? This is quite a feat!" Eugene says, excitedly.

"Jeez Chatty Cathy, you are WAY into this. I wonder how you'll react to my other projects." Asuna giggled.

"True, I can't wait to see them!" Eugene says, to Asuna nodding.

"Why not stay, and chat more with Asuna for a bit, then she can show you to the infirmary where you'll be working, Eugene." Xiao spoke up.

Eugene looks to Xiao. "Oh yes! I would love that!" Eugene says, in excitement.

"By all means, I don't mind having an audience." Asuna smirked.

"Wonderful!" Eugene says, slapping his hands together.

"Take care of him." Medatros says jokingly, turning to Xiao.

"You must be ready Freddy." Asuna teased.

Medatros laughs to himself, "I suppose you could put it that way." he says, crossing his arms.

"Then I suppose we should resume for now. I'll show you all to my son's area. He handles security." Xiao began walking back down the hall, with Medatros, Denki and Rune.

"Speaking of security, Denki? Maybe you should go, and make sure things are secure around the premises. We need a good spec list on how up-to-date things are. We can surely get more supplies if needed, to defer any intruders that may try to make their way in." Rune states turning her attention to Denki.

"I do have to agree with Rune, it would be wise to ensure safety of this location." Medatros nodded.

"On it." Denki muttered, heading off from the group.

"He's gotten so moody lately." Rune spoke up.

Medatros still had his eye set on Denki. "He's going through a hard time right now, but even so, he's strong. As we all should be." Medatros says, turning to Xiao, "Shall we continue the tour?"

"Of course, right this way." Xiao nodded, leading them to Cravic's area.

She opened the door, letting the other two follow her inside. Within, Cravic was over the computers, typing as Bit was leaning over his shoulder to view the screen.

"No, that code." Bit pointed.

"... I can do it myself." Cravic sighed.

"Hm?" Bit glanced up. "Your mom's here."

"What?" Cravic looked up. "oh... Lightons..."

Xiao crossed her arms. "Cravic, don't be like that."

"..." Cravic glances at Medatros.

"(I've seen this look before, he's had a rough time....) You won't have to worry too much about us. We're just here to lend support. Besides Rune here, she will be helping with weapon, and equipment deployment." Medatros states, placing a hand on Rune's shoulder.

"Indeed, I do need a location to set up things for now, however." Rune nodded.

Cravic stood up, looking coldly over, "First thing. I don't want some broad in my work place. Second, I already handle that, and have assistance from Bit."

"Cravic. You are to let Rune work here, to keep defenses ready, in case of emergency. You can't act this way just because a girl is invading your 'man cave'." Xiao looked sternly to her son.

"Man cave, Tee-hee. she's got you figured out Cravy." Bit teased.

"Shut it." Cravic hissed.

"..." Bit grinned to Cravic.

"Whatever. Just keep out of my way, otherwise you might piss me off." Cravic snapped, sitting back down.

"I assure you, your worry is unnecessary. It will be as if I am not present. Where is the weapon tech, if I may ask?" Rune spoke up.

Cravic pointed, with a scowl. Then resumed his work, so Rune decided to head over where he had pointed.

"Play nice." Xiao said to Cravic.

"Tzz..." Cravic scoffed, shooting a glare at Medatros.

Medatros smiles to Cravic then turns to Xiao. "Shall we leave them for now? I'm sure they'll be fine."

"I do hope so." Xiao replied, leading Medatros to her office. "I'll have to call conference with the Ferline commander, so we can formulate a plan on handling Kaos." She said, opening the door to her chambers.

"Hmm, quite a place here. You seem to have things in order. " Medatros spots a map, and some other oddities around the office. He spots a picture of her late husband with Xiao and Cravic. Medatros smiles at the sight, and looks to Xiao. "I see he still lights this room. McKalistair was a good man."

"That he was." Xiao nodded, holding a handkerchief back to her mouth as she coughed, turning from Medatros.

"Oh my, sounds as if that cough has gotten worse. I can say this line of work can get to you. Take a seat. I'll get you some water." Medatros says, walking over to Xiao to help her sit down.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me." Xiao hid the handkerchief, trying to smile to Medatros.

Medatros sighs, "If you insist....So, what are your current priorities with the situation? Kaos, as you know, was founded by our very hands, but at this time, even we don't have all the information."

"Presently, we need to gain forces. However, we have a prior agreement with the Ferline allies. Kaos has abducted people, both human, as well as Ferline and Usa. For now, we need to locate the whereabouts of the captives, and rescue them. I'll have to summon Luklen here, so that he could explain further." Xiao reached for her communicator, she hesitated however. "Perhaps it would be wise to have the conference tomorrow. It is getting rather late."

"Yes, perhaps you're right. We should settle, and catch up a little, then first thing tomorrow morning. We take care of matters at hand." Medatros says, clearing his throat.

"Catch up? You mean talk about old times?" Xiao inquired, to Medatros.

"But of course. Granted it's been some time since the Xion wars, and the Dreads. We can place that behind us now though. We now have these new hassles to put up with. At least we can settle down just for a little bit." Medatros says, looking to Xiao.

"Are you implying, what I think you're implying?" Xiao looked to him oddly.

Medatros chokes a little. "U-Uh no no! I wasn't saying that. I was meaning rest. Seeing how your coughing as well, it wouldn't be good for us to rush ourselves." Medatros says, trying to change the subject.

"Rush ourselves? Medatros, you aren't really helping the situation." Xiao held in a laugh.

"Oh no! I mean yourself, or us with working. I'm sorry, space travel has my mind all over the place." Medatros states, rubbing the back of his head, forming a sweat drop.

"Jet-lag isn't really much of an excuse." Xiao teased, looking off. "My coughing isn't going to cease though. No point in resting, it's better for me to keep working. It's only gotten worse since I made Scape leave..."

"Hmm, I see... so you two broke up?... Well, seems as if time has taken a toll on your health in places, but yes I agree. We should keep working no matter how hard things get. It's good you haven't lost that side of you. One of the best things I remember from our works in the past." Medatros says, smiling.

"I have to keep up things, otherwise, the others will see how feeble I've become..." Xiao looks off slightly.

"There is nothing wrong with showing a little weakness...If you must rest, do so. That is why we are here, Xiao. " Medatros states looking to Xiao seriously.

"Medatros. If I rest, I might not be able to get things handled... I..." Xiao looks to the handkerchief, there was blood on it. "I have Consumption..."

Medatros still keeping his straight face, advances over to Xiao. He places a hand on her shoulders. "Xiao....This virus...So, that is your weakness..."

"... I've had it for some time, but it's gotten worse with stress... It doesn't help I no longer have the medicine to help it... However, the chances it won't be fatal, are on the low end of the spectrum, so I've already accepted my fate. As long as I take care of business, I've lived a good life..." Xiao glanced off.

Medatros shuts his eyes. "Without Scape, there is no medicine, I assume... Though, that's quite a remarkable statement, however I feel it shouldn't be necessary to just give up yet. It hasn't been tested too frequently. There were times in the past, the Dream Tears from our planet, were able to cure abnormalities of the body. Not just that of Elementar nature. Xiao? If you still want to have a chance...No, then. I'm not giving you a say so. I want you to be alright. Would you allow me to administer you a Dream Tear?"

"..." Xiao looked to Medatros in surprise.

"Is that a yes?" Medatros states softly.

Xiao furrowed her brow, "I thought you weren't giving me a choice." She tried to smile.

"Well uhh, heh forcing would be outlandish. I was a bit taken off guard, but I have a feeling the Dream Tears can help your situation tremendously." Medatros states, keeping his soft composure.

"Then I won't resist, if you think it's for the best." Xiao replied, looking to him gently.

Medatros hugs Xiao. "Alright then it's settled. I'll send in a message to the Kingdom. I'll have some Dream Tears shipped over to us. It could take a couple of weeks, but you've stayed strong this long, and I will stay strong with you. We'll see that this virus is destroyed from your system." Medatros lets off, "As is my promise from McKalistair, to protect you."

"There you go again, with saying one thing, but making me think you're saying completely different." Xiao chuckled.

Medatros laughs pecking Xiao on her forehead.

"Oh?" Xiao was caught off guard.

"As said, I am here to protect you." Medatros says, softly.

Over the monitors, Cravic had been watching. He looked pretty pissed off at the screens. Bit glanced over his shoulder, and poked Cravic's cheek. Cravic remained with the same expression. Bit kept poking him.

"Oh crit, someone's going to go crater." Bit snickered.

Cravic was gritting his teeth still at the screen. "Fucking, son of a bitch... Scape was one thing, but this elementar?!"
