54 Shop
A deep red iridescence flowed out from the slits of the pagoda. 'Glory' was the name of the bright shop harbouring items and goods for Ki cultivators.
Nero, after learning of them, had already deduced what Ki cultivators were.
'It's a pity Ki cultivating techniques weren't spread far and wide, gaining the ability to strengthen oneself and exert inhuman force would be of great help to the common folk in Plumon against Magical beasts.' Nero sighed to himself, it made sense that techniques that allowed anybody, whether they be a nobody or not, to gain the power to contend against their ruler and climb the hierarchy would be distributed with great caution.
So, what was a Ki cultivator? To explain in the simplest terms, those who gained the ability to transform mana into the state of 'Ki' were called Ki cultivators.
Comparing it to refined mana used by mages, Ki was like a kid to an able adult human, Ki cultivation's greatest advantage was the time it took to grasp.
Tempering one's body constantly for a year and a special meditation technique that needed a source of mana was usually enough to change a body's constitution, enabling it to accumulate mana and transforming it naturally into Ki.
Obviously, Ki did not stand a chance against mana, its use was extremely restricted, comparatively speaking.
Ki could not be freely manipulated at will, the process of transformation took far too long without a technique to accompany it, and many other details made Ki an inferior particle.
Unlike mages, Ki cultivators pretty much only made living off of laborious tasks, joining the army and Beast hunting.
Entering the building, Nero's gaze was filled with marvelous items and materials put on display, most of which he didn't have a clue of.
On the right of him, a well dressed young man wearing the reddest dress Nero had ever seen walked gently but with unusual pace towards him.
"Welcome, anything you'd like help with sir?" he asked kindly with a smile.
"I'm here to look for items for mages, would you happen to have any?" Nero's voice was deep as he spoke with clarity.
"As you know sir, this is a shop specialising items for Ki cultivators, we only have little stock on the common items for mages. Would you still like to take a look?"
"Lead the way," Nero followed the man past the shelves and shelves of odd objects with no aesthetic relation. Antlers, pearls, books, and many other things were lined up on display, some glowed, while others moved about in their own area like magical forces were placed on them.
Nero had also bought a hooded jacket for a few Cardin to cover his head while using some cloth to hide his facial features, the young man in front of him had no idea of the fact that Nero was no more than a young boy.
Nero was eventually led into a room far smaller than the before, having potions, pills and weapons on display.
"Please do take a look at our meager collection of magical items, each accessory available to use by every mage, young or old."
On the nearest display table a label read: 'Crystalline Magic Wand - 4350C', next to which was a transparent box holding a long stick, about as thick as a finger, that narrowed down to a jagged point.
A triangular pattern was etched into the wand and had a crystal look, giving the red tint a wavy feel.
'I'm guessing the mainlanders made this to help in controlling mana better.'
'Weaving incantations in the air through a mana conductive rod probably helps,' Nova added.
Farther ahead on the next display were beads that had a light glow to them packed together in little spherical jar.
'5 Beast pills - 10740C' was written on the label, Nero couldn't exactly decipher its use but he vaguely had an idea that the pills contained Beast mana, maybe it was for

Absorbing Beast mana better? He didn't have enough understanding about these pills.
Nero had come to know that becoming a mage brought the benefits of gaining the ability to create magical items. Runes that worked on Beast cores were the higher levelled ones, the most easily found ones were those that changed mana of a mage into another source, like heating or cooling. Forging magic items needed both the use of mana and extremely refined control over fire, something only possible by a mage with rune control.
Alchemy was also as such, needing controlled use of fire, right amounts of mana, and precise compounding of materials, all key details to concoct the desired pill or item.
Even basic pills such as Beast pills had extreme value, each having a Market price of over a 2000C!
'As far as lucrative businesses go, this is it!' Nero was amazed, he made a mental note to find out and buy manuals for pill concoction, sure that he first needed enough money to buy a cauldron rune and a manual for the basics.
Finally, on by heir last display, there were rocks of different shapes and sizes, with the label on the side of each differing shaped rock.
'Fire rune - 72000C', 'Web rune - 12500C', 'Impulse rune - 35000C', and 'Gauntlet rune - 45000C', Nero was inwardly shell-shocked at these absurd prices, a well-made Rank-1 Beast jacket was priced for 300C but a simple Web rune had more than 40 times the worth!
The reason Nero had come here was not to buy such items, but to find the worth of his precious Senator's Gem and King's gem.
"What do you think is the worth of this?" Nero manipulated a little basic mana to pull out his King's gem from his finger.
"Good sir! You seem to not know of the value of that Grade 1 mana crystal, am I wrong to presume you to be a traveler?" The young man was a little surprised at the lack of knowledge this short man had.
"Where I am from doesn't matter, just tell me its worth." Nero had spoken in a monotonous voice since the beginning, adhering to it without a single shift in tone.
"It's weight, judging by it's size, should be around 120-150 grams, it's market price should be over 7500C since 100g of grade 1 mana crystal has been that without shift for over the last 6 years!" the man spoke hurriedly, feeling an internal pressure rising.
"And what about grade 2 crystals?"
"That would be... 15000C per 100g, I would like to mention that the prices of Mana crystals haven't had a change since the discovery of Spacial magic. I didn't suppose you would happen to know that."
Nero took a moment to analyse what that meant, since Golden Lion Rubies had a King's gem with the weight of 25g, and taking into account the rarity of such a coin, a single coin had the worth of 4000C if the rarity was maintained.
He estimated each coin to be worth 2500C if he were to pawn them in now since they would lose rarity because of their number.
"Then I shall come back later. For now, I shall buy a Beast pill. I only seem to have a little over 2000C on hand, would it be possible to lower the price a little to match that?" Nero made ready 2 star-shaped silvery pieces underneath his hooded jacket, he knew he could bargain the price down to the market price.
10 minutes later, he exited the building with 600C on hand and a glowing white pill in a jar.
It was time to hunt!
