47 Mild concussion
For a second, only Kalibrius' screaming in pain resounded throughout the lounge. The other two juniors were silently listening to the whole conversation before also entering a state of shock from what Nero did.
Yup, he used mana. Everybody knew what mana was and what it looked like, they weren't in the higher echelons of society for nothing after all.
But they simply couldn't believe it. It didn't make sense that a young boy of Nero's age could use mana, it simply was something they had never thought possible. At the very least, one could be known as a prodigy if they stepped onto the path of Magic at around 15, but 7?
All the children, except Kalibrius who was on the ground with his head in his hands, loudly exclaimed the same thing, "You're a Hunter?!".
Nero did what he usually did, tell them the story of his lucky encounter with his master when he had accidentally consumed a Beast's Dan.
Nero's evident panting made the children stop their barrage of questioning while Kalibrius stood up in shock and screamed a bunch of questions before realising what happened and running back to his Cabin in fright.
He knew he'd pissed off the wrong guy.
"I know you guys have a lot of questions, but even I don't know some answers... all I can say is that I became a Hunter not long ago and my Master said that I can become a Demon even though I don't have a good advancement rate. Also, yes the Captain knows." Nero took a deep breath before explaining his position in the situation. Lying had become second nature to him, it wasn't hard to shut the kids up with a made-up story.
"you're so Cool! You talk like you're an adult!" A small junior exclaimed. "Can I be your friend?"
"I don't see why not? What's your name?"
"Oh, I forgot to tell you! I'm Micheal, this is Michael next to me! We have pretty much the same name, cool right?" Nova noticed how Micheal hadn't acted immature or haughty and seemed more mature than others. Michael, on the other hand, hadn't spoken at all, only exclaiming in shock when Nero revealed his power.
"Is he shy?" Nero pointed at Michael and asked.
"Him? Oh, there's a good reason behind it, it's kind of a long story actually. Basically, he comes from a non-Norman speaking kingdom. He saved me when I was 6 and ever since, he's been by my side. He even has Slayer level potential! I did try to teach him though, he can speak in a sort of a broken Norman, cool right?"
"Cool, nice to meet you Micheal&Michael," Nero pleasantly said while giving a bowing gesture with a smile.
He had finally found someone who he could hold a conversation with!
'My first friend huh... my first friend is like 10 years old. Kinda weird but, cool. See Nova? People do wanna be friends with me!' Nero playfully gloated to Nova who had been dormant.
A cure to this slowly developing immunity he had from Beast mana had yet to be found, blindly guessing in the dark require a lot of guesses to come close to the mark and Nova needed to be frozen so that her processing ability could be used for faster guessing.
Nero was kinda down at first but now that he had someone to talk to, he could fill in the gap of loneliness.
"Hello... I Michael. You cool. You magic use!" the brown-haired boy who was half a foot taller than Nero spoke up. His tone was warm and his words barely understandable, he pulled out his hand and received a courteous handshake.
"I wanna know something, just one question, what intent did you use?" the other brown-haired one inquisitively asked, Micheal was a few inches taller Michael so he had to really tilt his neck down to look eye-to-eye with Nero.
"What do you mean?" Nero replied in confusion with a slight head tilt. His mind was wandering so he couldn't properly understand the question and relate it to the intent he used to control mana.
"The intent you chose when you felt the barrier, ooh, was it the famous intent of desperation? Or maybe, something less renowned like the intent of rejection... That doesn't fit you though you're too young to have been rejected. Hmmm, I guess its something like the intent to caress, you're young you would need to show mana your love to gain its control."
Micheal talked about intent with great depth, it sounded like the 'intent' was something renowned and much was known.

Seeing as Nero didn't know much and had found a good source of info, he decided to probe further.
"My master gave me a few choices but didn't tell me anything about them so I chose one randomly. Can you tell me more about them?"
"Of course! Intent plays a huge role in how one's mana affects others and acts on its own without control. For example, The most known and common intent used by magicians is the intent to Utilise. There is obvious reasoning behind, most people who strive to step onto the Magical Path are almost always left with no hopes and dreams or ambitions after realising the difficulty in becoming a Hunter, the only thing that they could hope they could do is use mana, Utilise it. It's also no secret that starting with clear intent is much more helpful in advancing than without. After people understood that mana could only be conquered with their desires, people mostly chose the Intent to Utilise.
"Those who had great ambitions like becoming kings or great rulers very very rarely succeeded with their initial intent in mind. Another factor came into play here, accumulation. It was widely known as Foundation but my father told me the Foundation for a magician was different and he was a Skilled Hunter! My bad, I get easily excited and sidetracked here and there heh, I just realised I've been rambling on about the history of Intent! Anyway, I'll tell the difference found between intents.
"Basically, the intent had a lot to do with one's subconscious. An intent's effect could be most clearly seen when refined mana was left uncontrolled, the subconscious sent small commands that were the intent itself which then effected the uncontrolled mana. Refined mana with the intent to Utilise almost completely still, because the nature of it was to be used and it was not being used, the refined mana would stay absolutely still.
"Comparing this to suppose one of the hardest intents to achieve like suppose the intent to Damage, the refined mana with the Intent to Damage would be extremely volatile and would naturally violently shake without any command from their owner! One of the Hunters in my Kingdom used the rare intent to Pacify, refined mana with such intent would naturally try to calm any sort of fluctuations like the wind around it or objects in motion would lose their speed, though only by a little. Essentially, such mana would try to bring everything to a standstill.
"The most suitable Intent for a person was being related their nature. If somebody over their lifetime had become a criminal with an exceptionally greedy nature, the intent to Steal would be greatly helpful. And that's pretty much all that I know."
Nero couldn't help but be amazed at the intelligence of Micheal, it was simply incredible!
'Not to mention, his comprehensive capability and knowledge retention are also extraordinary.' Nova added, she as well was thoroughly moved. She had only just got out of her dormant state after trying to find answers to Nero's mysterious immunity but to no avail.
'Seems like I found a capable friend huh?'
And that was how Nero made his first physical friend.
