28 Fast-Track

2 days later.

A large caravan stood at the Northern entrance of Pinnacle, ready to set off to its destination, Haron Kingdom.

The Caravan was the most expensive kind, having Ranger Horses and coal-powered Steamstones making the journey much smoother.

Outside, The mother-daughter couple, Cyl and Cylia stood beside a small hooded figure, telling it the dangers to be found and how to tackle them in a concerned manner.

They had grown quite fond of him, care and concern was very much something they would do for it, seeing as it was a child travelling alone for the first, unknowing of the world's danger.

This hooded figure was, of course, Nero.

He had dyed his hair black, seeing as it was the most suitable colour that would easily disguise his appearance as well as be easy to explain, seeing as his eyes were devoid of any colour.

He had luggage belt under his hood and a large travelling bag to keep all his valuables and essentials.

He also had his scythe wrapped up over his shoulder.

There were a plethora of things in his bag; 10 Golden Rubies, 15 Golden Lions, 50 Lion coins, a large amount of smaller valued currency amounting up to a golden Lion, 2 bars of Ether, and the map of the continent.

The map was awful compared to what Nero wanted it to be like. Though handmade, there were only outlines of the border of the Mainland, the Island of Plumon West to it and a whole bunch of other islands laterally aligned to it, both North and South.

He had previously used up 300g of Ether seeing as it multiplied the recovery of Mana and removed a lot of the exertion on the body from prolonged use of Mana. He now carried the leftovers, he was travelling with the intent to go to the Mainland, there was no need to leave something he had great use of. He had extracted as much as he could from the laundered money, leaving the rest in Cyl and Cylia's hands.

The travel time was supposed to be around 2 - 3 days but Nero had a better plan to get there much faster.

In the King's eyes, he was still a skilled Hunter, there was no method more efficient than travelling via a Caravan.

Nero, however, was an impatient imbecile, he couldn't stand not being able to train his manipulation. In the Cultivation book he bought, he had read that circulation of Mana improved his Dan, letting him refine a higher quality of mana.

This had to be done in secret, however, the process was very flashy.

His body literally glowed when he circulated his mana throughout his body, there was no way he wouldn't be found cultivating.

He was gonna ditch the caravan and just fly by himself.

The Kingdom was up North, its size was massive, there was no way he wasn't going to see it from up high in the air.

An hour after saying his goodbyes and setting off, Nero formulated a plan for his disappearance.

His first criteria were to not get the merchant to get in trouble, that was just plain mean and he was feeling nice.

He ripped a piece of paper from the notebook he carried everywhere, wrote about letting the King know he reached safely and signed it, so the merchant had proof.

The second criteria were to disappear while the others who were also travelling with him were asleep, it made his disappearance less linked to him simply flying off and more to running away.

A few hours later, the sun had finally set. The moon triplets shone brightly, reflecting the final lights of the sun as it slipped away from sight.

Everyone in the Caravan except Nero had fallen asleep.

'Here we go.'

Slowly, connected to the open-back caravan, a surfboard made of Bright orange Mana started to form.

The caravan had started to travel downhill, its speed noticeably increasing. Nero wanted to take advantage of it, the speed of the caravan.

Soundlessly, he picked himself up and walked out of the Caravan, stepping foot on the Surfboard, which instantly formed a cover around his legs to keep him in place.

After he stabilised himself on the board, the connection between caravan and the surfboard dissipated.

Instead, a cloud started to form under the surfboard, letting it use its speed it to increase altitude.

ZOOP

The surfboard carried itself high into the air, before slowing down and slowing starting to descend.

'Time to fly.'

Around Nero's body, wings made of blood-red mana came into existence with pulses of Orange occasionally making their way out.

Like before, Nero flapped his wings up until he reached the clouds, then transformed his wings into web gliders and freefell downwards to gain momentum. Then, like before, he curved his body as efficiently, zooming through the air at 100 miles per hour.

A small figure wooshed through the sky, completely unhindered by the cool air and the blowing winds.

Nero had guessed that it would take around 6 hours of constant travelling to get the entrance of the city. After an hour, Nero entered a heavily foggy zone.

His backpack and belongings fluttered as the wind rushed past, staying in place only because of the protective mana cover.

His two gems brightly shone on his fingers, both deep purple. The larger Gem emanated a deep blue sometimes, whereas, the other gave off occasional tints of deep green.

These were the King's Gem and the Senator's Gem respectively.

He had previously given in the Senator's Gem to be turned into a ring, and the result made the Gem a bit more compact but with the same capability to store mana, the King's Gem was obtained from the Chief of Goosewal premade.

Then, the noise of a light flutter entered Nero's ears, from his far left.

The instant he heard it, he also got feedback from his aura.

A strong one.

Then and there, Nero knew... he had entered the realms of trouble.

CAWW

Nero saw the claw only when it was a few meters away from him, the body of this creature completely shrouded in the surrounding fog.

With his reaction time, Nero rotated his body counter clock-wise to dodge the talons of this mysterious creature, then proceeded to swoop down where the fog lessened.

He knew this beast had to be at least a Rank 3 Terror level creature, and indeed it was.

Its large body fully came into view as it descended from the fog cloud.

It was a Rank 3 Basic level Terror, The Victorian Vulture, it's body emanated the aura of Adept Mana, showing its Strength level.

Finally, after eyeing its speedy prey, it had him.

And it was there to devour him.
