23 A challenge!

"So, do you wanna get that girl out of their grasp or do you want to look for the immortal petals, " The devil king's voice resounded as Dan stared into blank space.

Immortal petals were the primordial names for the earth, water and the sky petals.

Earth petals were the most common ones among the three, while sky petal was the rarest out of them all.

"Let's go look for her, " Dan said as he used the crane dance to disappear from the very void he was in.

He soon arrived in front of a huge castle located at the heart of the city.

"Do you really wanna do this. You can come again after you have ingested earth petals. At that time, you will have enough power to challenge that city lord. Right now, you have nearly zero of a chance to defeat the true immortal behind his back." The devil king said as he thought for a while.

" Don't worry about it. I have a plan."

Dan said confidential as he remembered Yue

How could he not choose to save Yue? She was one of the most important person in his life. She was like to a sister to him. Even if he had to give his life to save her, he wouldn't hesitate at all.

"Alright!" Dan said as he looked at the castle in front of him.

It was slightly smaller than a small mountain, yet bigger than any houses he had seen in the spirit world apart from the one he encountered around the taboo location.

The castle was marvellous, yet it didn't make Dan awe in praise. Instead, it made his blood boil. On his way to the castle, he encountered many beggars, homeless children, and several disabled people. To see the leader enjoying himself while the citizen suffered made him feel sick.

From what he heard, the city lord would often pick extraordinary people among the citizen and sometimes raise the taxes for the poor in order to raise money for the war against the magical beast.

That was the reason why many people inside the city soon turned poor, disable and homeless.

Nevertheless, the city lord didn't dare to state the same law for rich clans as there were fearsome real powerhouses that were backing them, directly and indirectly. Some were from the immortal region while the others were overlords, who were born in the city. This fact made Dan even more so k of the city lord.

Dan concentrated his attention and walked towards the castle once he was done thinking it through.

As he made way towards the castle, he could feel several eyes gazing at his direction.

There were dozens of black-clothed experts guarding the castle, while a couple of white-clothed experts were surveying the crowd; seemingly trying to identify anyone that looked suspicious. Coincidently, Dan looked a bit suspicious due to his clothing sense, so their eyes directed towards him.

Dan was confident that he could take all of them if it was one on one, but if all of them were to attack at the same time, he might not even be able to escape, let alone defeat them all.

Dan, embarrassed as he was, turned back. After disappearing from their sight, his eyes instantly turned sharp. He activated the technique- crane dance and applied the second level of the technique. He soon mixed in with the shades around the building and bypassed every guard one by one, and soon, he was inside the castle.

"Swish"

"I am actually inside!" Dan exclaimed to himself as he looked around. He couldn't believe it.

After all, there were countless experts guarding every side of the castle, and to be able to escape in front of their eyes was almost unbelievable.

"Boy, You have some amazing techniques! That technique was probably at the level of heavenly rank! If it were to land in the hand of an assassin...they would be able to kill anyone at their stage."

Even Devil Lord, an aloof entity was surprised by the usefulness of the technique, let alone Dan who mostly used his bare hands to fight a battle.

"Although I have executed several high-level devil techniques, I haven't sensed such smooth flow of energy circulation until now. This technique used by human beings is quite different than the ones they have in the devil world."

"It's more profound compared to the Devil technique. Most of the devil techniques are destructive, unlike the immortal technique, " Dan once again praised the technique as he sensed the smooth flow of energy inside his body. It might have been related to the Wicked kindness, but Dan knew that to be able to work alongside the godly technique, Crane Dance had to be a decent technique as well.

" Huff! I barely have any spiritual energy left!" Dan was noticed that he was a bit exhausted and when he checked his body, he almost got a heart attack. The second stage of Crane Dance took a massive amount of spiritual energy as a form of compensation.

However, it was worth it as he was already inside the castle with no trouble whatsoever.

"Why is the upper floor locked."

Suddenly, a deep voice travelled across the room Dan was located in. Dan looked outside and noticed two figure approaching the room he was currently residing in. The owner of that previous voice was a middle-aged man at the left.

"Apparently, that demonic girl is locked inside one of the rooms at the upper floor, so they are guarded tightly. I hope they end her life before it gets out of control. I wouldn't even mind if she were to buried in hell"

Another sinister voice echoed as Dan observed the middle-aged man. It came from a young soldier at his late twenties.

"Yeah, that demonic girl should be executed!"

Dan could tell that the demonic girl they were talking about was Yue. Hearing them call her a demon made his blood boil. He wanted to bite their head off as soon as he heard them call her a demon.

"How dare they?" Dan said as he slammed the door. Remembering Yue innocent face, his inner self exploded from inside.

"Swish!"

He rushed outside aggressively and was in front of their faces in a few seconds.

"Who are you?" The two said as they looked at Dan's demonic face.

"Boom!"

He punched both of their faces at the same time. Both of their head blasted like a watermelon. The two didn't even realise that they were about to die before it actually happened.

Dan wasn't satisfied with the result; he kept on punching the floor which was filled with blood.

"Ring!" "Ring"

"Who is there?"

"Someone has broken in?"

"Everyone, Look for the intruder!"

Voices travelled across the bottom floor as people started to rush towards Dan's location.

" Let's go!" Dan tried to suppress his anger. However, his red eyes looked at people who were about to enter the room.

"Who are you?" The newcomers looked at the floor which was dyed with blood. It was similar to red paint on a canvas, which in turns frightened him.

"Fuck off" He smashed his fist against the floor, creating a huge hole.

The shockwave blasted off the newcomers. Some collapsed on the floor due to the blast while some ran away.

"Calm down boy, " The devil king solemnly said as he saw Dan's aggressive nature.

This was his first time seeing him going out of control. As he gazed at the floor, he was secretly relieved that he was in Dan's side and not in the enemies.

"Crane Dance" Dan disappeared from the scene.

"Swish"

After somewhat like an hour, he was at the stairs that led to the upper floor. The experts from the city lord mansion couldn't even find him after a long time even though they searched the whole of the bottom floor.

"Bang"

"Ah"

Dan screamed as he crashed against the barrier located on the top floor.

"How am I supposed to cross this barrier before they come, " Dan said as he panicked.

"You don't have to, " The devil king said inside Dan's consciousness as he looked at the barrier solemnly.

"I was waiting for you, " A voice travelled across the bottom floor as a youngster in his twenty came from inside the barrier.

"I challenge you, If you win, I will let you pass. If not, you know what's going to happen, " The youngster said with a determined voice.
