14 Destroying The Foundation

"Who is it?" Dan was terrified upon hearing the sound in his head.

'Don't worry kid, I won't eat you. I am in a similar situation as yours, and as a fellow devil we should help each other." Instead of a soul's voice, a mature voice reverberated this time around. It was filled with temptation and made one happy just by hearing it.

"Swish!"

The scarlet skull suddenly appeared before Dan as he struggled to understand the situation. Compared to before, it radiated less omnipotent aura and more gentle flare. It spontaneously released a red light which healed Dan's broken body.

"Why are you helping me?" Dan wasn't sure as to how to react. Things escalated to this point today due to his lack of direction sense and few small mistakes which made him realise that he shouldn't look down on any part of the spirit world, even if it was a simple mountain or a village.

"I am doing this for both of our benefits." The skull kept on rambling about benefits, "I leave you with two option boy: either you die and I become that guy's slave or we go both go all out and you use the devils' origin fulfilment like you intended to do and I form a good plan for us. It might allow us to break free from the barrier."

"So you know," Dan was experiencing new thing after another, so he wasn't really surprised. He quickly made up his mind and decided to do what skull told him to. Now, he could either die in dragons hand or get saved by skull's plan.

"Screech"

While they were engaging in conversation, loud screeching sound came from behind them, nearly blasting their eardrum.

They both looked at the dragon who was currently attacking the seal with ridiculous strength. The scene left both the skull and Dan petrified.

"Quick, what do we do?" Dan said in a hurried voice.

"Calm down and do what I tell you to," the skull regained its cool and started to reform its plan. After a while, it sent a mental message to Dan.

In a few breaths of time, Dan's eyes flicked with confusion, and regret, however, as time passed It was mostly loaded with hope.

After taking a few deep breaths, he looked at the scarlet skull and said, "You really know a lot of devils' secret techniques."

The skull remained quiet for a while before blasting itself into several pieces. Soon after, all the piece joined together while the soul inside the skull hid within Dan's body.

"Alright, I hope you are ready. After this, you will have no devil or law power. You will be an unremarkable existence, so enjoy the moment you have now." The cold, mature voice sounded within Dan as he tried to remain emotionally stable.

"Don't worry. Power isn't something I pursue; adventure is the one and the only thing that excites me. And to keep on adventuring, my life has to be secure, so I don't, and won't ever regret what I am going to do now."

Dan resolutely looked at the dragon and then towards the barrier. He seemed to have gotten a bit mature after travelling to the spirit world. He encountered kind people and explored ten times more things than he had explored on devils world, which left him with a feeling of excitement and happiness. And, to keep the adventure going he had to save his life.

"Don't worry for now. Although your devil's power is going away permanently, your blood contains the power of the golden emperor." The devil king tried to encourage Dan, although it only further increased Dan's curiosity.

"Anyway, you better do it or both of us will be in deep trouble."

"Right," Dan said as he channelled his power from the devils' core. A huge dark fireball slowly condensed in thin air as he put more effort. Moreover, a different type of energy also mixed along with it. It was pure white and radiated ominous presence. It was Dan's foundation energy.

Although the white energy was of small quantity, it made its worth with quality. It was thousands of times stronger than Dan's own devils' origin energy.

"DON'T YOU DARE RUN AWAY!"

"BOOM!"

The flood dragon blasted the seal into piece and flew towards Dan with enraged expression. It looked insane and almost broken. Maybe, it was due to staying in isolation for a long time or due to a fear of demonic emperor.

"Swish!"

The emotionless, and soulless skull charged towards the demon with such speed that it tore the space like a sharp blade.

"You shall not pass!" The skull transformed into something incredible as it said those words. A huge, 9-foot man replaced the previous skull. The man had a simple sword and had a small straw hat tied to his neck. The man looked like an immortal rather than a devil, which surprised Dan who was currently channelling all his power onto the fireball.

"Asura...why don't you just die?"

The dragon was unhappy with the transformation of the man and so he questioned the man.

"I have responsibilities which I need to complete. In order for me to complete them, I have to stay alive, even if it means sacrificing everything." The man said in a deep voice as it looked at the dragon's deep red eyes.

"Swish"

The man pounced at the dragon as soon as it stabilised his form.

"Boom!"

"BOOM!"

The fight started to get rough as the two attacked each other aggressively.

"Quick!"

While the two were fighting, the deep voice sounded in Dan's brain. In response to that, Dan released more power and the fireball flared ever brighter than before, nearly blinding all the creature in the forest.

"Now comes the law. Channel all your understanding of law and incorporate it with the fireball."

The voice kept on telling Dan one thing after another which annoyed Dan a lot, but he didn't dare complain as his life was on the line.

"Shatter"

A huge crunching sound came as the climax of the battle between the dragon and the devil king ended. The dragon seemed to have used the holy treasure of the demon race to bind the devil kings body.

The body of devil king was crunched up by the demon and as it happened, the devil king's eyes slowly slipped out of life.

"Quick!"

The soul of the devil king started to panic upon seeing the scene. It seemed to have gone insane too.

"Hiss"

The flame released flare upon flares after being strength by sacrificial law of devil. Dan seemed to have been drained of energy as he looked at the fireball.

"Quick boy. He might use the holy treasure to stop the ritual."

The devil king said with concern as he saw the dragon heading towards them.

"Don't worry...I am done," Dan said as he focused on the fireball and tried to direct it towards the barrier.

Once he had done it, he threw the fireball which weighted more than a mountain towards the barrier.

"Boooooom!"

As soon as the fireball touched the barrier, the barrier shattered like a fragile glass. However, before Dan could show his excitement, a new barrier appeared.

"Boom!"

But, the new barrier still couldn't do anything to the fireball, although it did struggle a bit more compared to the first one.

"There are nine barriers. However, you don't have to worry. I have something up my sleeves.

As the devil king said that, the fireball smashed through the fifth barrier and was putting up a fight against the sixth one.

"Boom!"

The sixth one also exploded.

"Noooo!"

The dragon was overwhelmed by anger and fear. He was scared that the devil king would leave at any moment to come. Due to that, he once summoned the holy weapon- demonic orb and pointed it towards Dan.

Dan flew towards the direction of the fireball with high speed under the direction of the devil king.

However, just as he was about to go through the fifth barrier, a sudden force stopped him. He couldn't control his body any longer.

"Devil King. What do-"

Just as he was about to ask devil king for help, the deep voice sounded.

"Sorry boy! I have no choice but to do this." A white light gusted out of his body and flew towards the ninth barrier which was currently stopping the dark fireball.

Seeing this, Dan was left with a feeling of despair. As a person with a pure heart, it was a huge blow to be betrayed by someone he trusted.

"Swish"

"Kid, you are dead!" The dragon suddenly appeared at the scene and attacked Dan with his claw.

"Guess my adventure ends here," Dan said disheartening as he saw the attack coming.

However, before it could even touch Dan, a holy power poured out of him. This power was so great that it overloaded Dan's body, making him unconscious. Along with the power, a charming yet cold voice came.

"How dare you harm my son!"
