108 Chapter 102
--Unknown perspective--
Deep rumbles of thunder sounded through the large realm, casting bursts of eerie light to cast across the dead earth. A dark fog like mass drifted its way across the many bones and decaying creatures littered across the field. Passing misshaped trees that had long ago lost their unique charm and elegance. Now they looked as if they were cursed monsters, stuck into the state of wood while screaming out their silent cries of pain. Each stroke of lighting, illuminating the different expressions of loss, pain and hatred on the faces of these once beautiful beings transformed into trees. The mass of fog easily passed all of this, without pause as it drifted along, slowly growing closer to the massive dark palace that seemed to grow from the very ground.
The stone and wood creating the ancient palace seemed to have been died black with a barely noticeable reddish tent. Different shades of this dull color spreading from the stairs up towards the walls and entry way. The thick dark oak doors slowly creaking open with a groan like sound passing through the inner court yard of this decrepit palace. The fog continued forward, passing over the wilted crops, and cold gray stones covering the inner part of the palace floor. Ashen pillars holding up the patchy roof blocking the weather on the pathway. Making its way up the large staircase, the fog shifted up each stair, reaching the peak within no time.
Just as the fog reached the top of the stairs, a strange ring sounded out. The sound drifting along ever inch of the palace, stirring to life all the unseen inhabitants. Many sounds of low thudding quickly made their way towards the Fog, the inner doors to the grand palace slowly creaking open by unseen servants. The Fog entered without question, heading through the large empty passage way into what appeared to be an old and once beautiful throne room. Many carved pillars reached to the heavens, holding up what appeared to have once been the grand ceiling holding many different arts of long passed artists. The carved and painted skies, dragons and other meaningful symbols of prosperity and luck having faded, morphing into something more fit for a horror filled projection.
Reaching the dark stone stairs, the fog easily slid upwards, making its way all the way to the only remaining beautiful object left untouched by the changes. A large obsidian jade rested in the center, carved into a grand and beautiful throne. The fog slowly began to merge towards it, gathering at the front of the throne. As the fog moved, many figures dashed from the entrance, hurrying just before the throne before quickly lowering themselves before it. As they all moved, silence filled the space outside the deep and low sounds of thunder echoed throughout the hall. Once each figure was in place, a low sloshing sound slowly drifted up, the edges of the room, the floor began to shift.
The once solid stone floor slowly shifting into a more liquid like state, soft sobs drifting up as the half stone half liquid began to shift into a deep blackish red. Weird deformed hands slowly pushed their way upwards, the dark reddish ink like substance dripping from claw like fingers. Within these claws, formed a strange smoke like orb, a faint glow from within these smoke like orbs began to shine before these orbs shot out, moving towards the shadow like fog like mass now collected at the front of the throne. The orbs merged into the fog, causing a strange ringing to pierce the air as the walls lit up with a strange reddish hue, lighting the grand hall. "Long live the Lord!" the cries began, the huddled figures moving to raise up, calling out before lowering once more into a proper bow. This repeated 3 times before the figures remained on the ground, bowed before the now shadow figure that stared down at them. Red glowing eyes narrowing slightly as silence once more filled the hall.
"It seems that not everyone believes that I am the lord here. Some have decided to act without orders." the low voice sounded into the hall, deep and hair raising tone caused each creature bowed before it to shudder. Sweat slowly seeping onto their foreheads as subtle glances looked from one another. "I say, when did I ever order Mi-" the voice continued, the shadow figure slowly lowering itself onto the throne, taking a relaxed stance while dark locks made of fog drifted around. A soft sound escaped one of the creatures huddled on the ground, a cry of worry as the figure slowly raised up. "I-I didn't mean to Your lordship. It was the Holy Imperial Priest." the person called out, bowing forwards.
The shadow figure's red eyes narrowed slightly, the foggy version of a hand shooting out to wave at the person who had spoken. From the ground below the person, the stones began to shift, turning into the same half liquid and half water state as the edges of the room, hands reaching up to grab the person before pulling him into the strange liquid matter. The Ministers close forced themselves the remain in place, no one daring to move. After the stones returned to normal, leaving only the remaining ghostly cries of the minister that had vanished behind, a low chuckle washed over the hall.
"My Lord, you really should calm that temper. He only did as requested by heavens will." the voice called out. The tone was the same from the shadow figure that had first kidnapped Ai. The male slowly made his way from the shadows, exposing the old and morphed male that appeared to have been merged with a demon. Dark eyes with no whites stared up at the shadow formed male. "It was for you after all. Without the orbs gathered from the little ones blood. We wouldn't have been able to heal your main body to allow you this transformation. You'd have still remained lost within the fog state. Unable to form!" the voice went on, the person drifting closer and closer to the stairs leading to the throne.
Just before he reached the first step, the figure finally came to a halt, a creepy smile working its way onto the males face. "I must say, the one you have chosen is really something else. Not only did the blood soaked stones grant you a good boost in strength, allowing you to gain some control of your soul. You're main flesh is almost able to rehouse your soul!" the person stated, seeming very pleased by the news. "It wont be much longer then we can finally-" he started, an odd embarrassed expression on the males face. However before he could finish, a clash sounded as the male was hit in the chest by an unknown force. His body falling back until he slammed against the floor, his expression becoming shock as he looked up dazed.
The shadow figure just coldly looked at the male, his fog like edges soothing some as the remaining anger began to ease into a manageable state. "I believe I did order that none were allowed to go see him. That you were to find a different way to restore the flesh of this one." he stated, tone chillingly cold as he spoke. The Imperial Priest bit onto his lower lip, eyes narrowing before slowly struggling back to his feet. "It was for you lord! If not, how else could we restore the body?! Besides, the youth is only useful to return your grand powers, nothing else! Why keep him safely away when you could easily return to your old glory before your death?!" the person stated, seeming very flustered.
The fogged male didn't respond, his gaze narrowing slightly. "Why do you seem so agitated. I've already stated that the return will happen a different way. Though you seem completely upset with my plans?" the male stated, his head tilting slightly. The Imperial Priest clenched his hands into fists, his expression lowering. "You want him to be your Empress! But you'd promised that position to-" he began, his tone very soft, not as free going as before. A slow smile working its way onto the shadow males expression as he raised a hand to hold his forehead in a relaxed manor. It was as if he were enjoying the others embarrassing comment. "Oh? When did I ever promise you such things? I don't seem to remember ever taking you as a lover nor bride." the male called out.
The rest of the people remained on the ground, unwilling to respond, wishing to be allowed to leave. The Priest's expression fell, his body seeming to tighten in protest as his legs began to tremble. "B-but…Before you died, we…we were the only ones, You said many times that I was important to you!" he said, his eyes watering slight. The male upon the throne thought for a moment, nodding as he gave a low laugh. "True. You were important, with you, I wouldn't have been able to be reborn as a lowly brat. I wouldn't have need to remake my body!" he stated his eyes narrowing. "Don't think I don't know, you wanted me to obey you. Not the other way around. You forget, I am the lord you are the holy priest. Your body is for the hellish beings to take while I am the voice to their commands." he stated slowly. "I rule while you only answer our requests. The day you brought me to this world, was the day your fate was sealed."
The male slowly pushed himself up, slowly stepping down the stairs. "You are forever to remain loyal, and listen. Never question, only wait for the world you wish to see. Do not ever go against me again. Or I'll find a new priest to obey me." the priest felt his watered eyes sting as his legs finally gave up, falling to the floor before slowly moving to bow, his body trembling. "Yes….my lord."
"Now. Get to working on my body. Soon my new body will be ready." with that, the shadow lord shifted, returning back into a fog like state before fading until the room was once more empty.
