107 Chapter 101

Within the dark space, Ai slowly began to move around, his hands reaching out as he tried to find anything to grab on. His vision only grew darker, until nothing was seen at all. Panic began to fill him as he slowly tried to calm his frantic heart. Dull thudding sounds rang out from around him, causing his head to turn in its direction, eyes widen. "Who's there? Wang? Mao?" he called out, tentatively making a few steps towards it. Before Ai could get any closer, a low hissing sound passed around his ear. Shuddering with a gasp, Ai reached up to cover his ear, his other hand holding the front of his robe as he glanced about around him. After a few moments had passed, the youth once more made a motion to step forward, however before he could, a weight pushed against him. It was like a gust of wind, however it was hard enough to knock him over. Causing him to fall back.

Thudding against the floor, Ai gave a low groan of pain as he shook his head. Despite not having it it, there was a harsh ringing in his ears, and it felt as if he were drunk. His vision began to swirl the dark shadows around, making it hard for him to balance himself. A strange sickening sweet sent washed over him. Soon he had no feeling in any part of his body. His head light, and mind unable to focus. Fear and panic pressed from the back of his mind, trying hard to gather his thoughts. However, despite how much he attempted to do so, Ai was unable to clear the clouded mind that now fogged him.

While Ai was busy trying to correct his thoughts, a low groan sounded as the floor below Ai creaked. The dull thuds of foot steps made their way over to him, shadows hissing while the shadow crept closer. When the shadow was within arms distance, a low hissing whisper entered his ears. The hairs on the back of Ai's neck and arms began to raise, his mind still dazed as he tried to focus on what the whisper was saying. Before he could make out the words, a piercing pain shot through Ai's head. He reached up, grabbing it while letting out soft sobs. Closing his eyes, Ai tried to focus his thoughts, his mind reeling despite how much he tried to calm it.

After the main subsided some, Ai found that his body had shifted part way, his fox ears popping onto his head, and 3 of the 9 tails sticking out, swirling around behind him. The sharp pain dulled to a lower one, allowing him to some what gain his focus as he slowly opened his eyes, peeking out as he tried to see what was afflicting him. However, the site before his eyes only caused him to pale while a scream was stuck at the back of his throat. Before him was the a black face that seemed mostly human, however with dark blood red eyes that glowed in the dark stared back at him. The mouth was as if were made up of ink, parting in a dripping mess with what appeared to be blood like liquid. Nothing else could be seen.

A low his passed through the dripping lips of the shadow monster. The crimson eyes closing slightly as a gurgled hiss slipped from its lips. It was like the monster was trying to say something to him, however the lips were unable to form any of the words. Slowly, Ai began to pull himself back, crawling til he bumped into the wall behind him. The shadow slowly following after him as he did so. The fear that Ai had managed to push down worked back up, his body freezing as he stared horrified at the shadow before him. The only thing Ai could process at the moment, was that this was going to be the thing that killed him. The fear of death, and if he'd ever be able to see Wang again was all that processed in his mind. Before Ai could give into the fear of death. The figure moved again.

The shadow lifted an hand, which appeared similar to the dripping mouth. Black ink like liquid slowly dripped from the fingers. It was as if someone took black ink and mixed it with a thinker, rubbing it all over a human shaped form. The hand grew closer, slowly approaching before brushing against Ai's cheek. The coldness caused Ai to shudder, his head turning instinctively to avoid the freezing touch. However the other hand swiftly moved, much faster then the first to hold Ai's head in place. The inky sticky liquid clung to Ai's head, holding him in place as the face moved closer.

Clutching his hands into fists, Ai stared in horror as the face grew closer. More hissing sounds escaped the lips of the person, still as incoherent as the first time it spoke. Just as Ai thought he'd be consumed by the strange ink monster, a bright light shown throughout the dark space. Ai's eyes shut tightly against the light, his body freed from the monster as it let out a rage fill cry before fading away with the darkness. Ai was left alone, sitting in the bright light of Miya who had finally appeared before Ai. She let out a low sigh, moving over to the youth slowly. She kept her distance slightly away, unsure of how Ai would react.

Thankfully, with the fact that the light had chased away the horrible monster, Ai wasn't at all against its approach. When Miya was close enough for him to finally make out, a shaky smile appeared on his lips as he tried to adjust himself, his eyes wet from tears he hadn't realized he'd shed. "Little one, its okay. Calm down." she said softly, hoping to help him relax some. Ai nodded, his body still trembling as he slowly pushed himself up. It was then he realized that the sickly sweet sent was gone, his heart finally setting some as the fear subsided. "Thank you." he stated, his tone still a bit shaken as his voice broke some.

Miya nodded, shifting her weight slightly. "I'm sorry I'm late. I didn't realize It would attempt such a thing within my domain. However it wont be able to attack again so long as you are here." she said feeling some what regretful. When the three had been separated, it wasn't because of her own will, however she did hold some part of it. Having only wanted to speak with Mao, she'd found that by creating the subspace, it allowed the shadow figure to also have a chance at separating Ai. "Soon you'll return to your companions. Though I should warn you to avoid being alone in dark places in the future. That creature is very obsessed with you for some reason. As for why, I'm unable to tell." she stated softly.

Ai nodded, not at all minding that advice. "I will." he said. A few moments passed in silence before Miya seemed unable to say anything else. Her gaze looking at the youth for a long while. "Child, you are of the heavenly realm, yet not. Be careful that you don't fall to the darkness. For it will chain you forever." She said with some sorrow in her words. "Maybe your fate isn't what anyone should have to take on. Though, there will be none who can avoid what fate has decided. Do take care." as the words fell, Miya faded away, leaving Ai once more confused before finding himself standing once more in the same room. He didn't have any chance to react before he was pulled into Wang's arms. The larger male looking him over to make sure he was okay.

As Wang looked him over, he moved to rub the smudges of black ink from Ai's cheeks, his expression full of worry as he did his best to be gentle. "Are you okay?" he asked, hoping that nothing bad happened. Though he'd seen some what of what had happen to the youth, it was still not enough to fully understand what had happened. However, before Ai could respond, Mao had made his way over, handing Ai a jade pendent. "Put that on for now, and we should leave. There isn't anything of importance here other than that." he stated. After Miya had left him, while Wang was busy searching for Ai, he'd found it setting on the side.

Wang helped Ai put the pendant on, his expression still filled with worry before the group hurried out. Ai really didn't have any attentions of staying in that blasted place any longer. The trip back to the camp was quiet, and neither of the members knew what to really say. Their first find was left with only many worries and little findings. When Ai was heading into the tent, Wang noticed Mao setting up some arrangements to the side, his eyebrow rising in question. Mao just made himself comfortable while closing his eyes. "Ai's in danger, so I figured I would just stay here. No worries. I wont impose into your love nest." he stated offhandedly.

Wang snorted but didn't say anything else, instead he headed into the tent to head to sleep with the youth. It would be a long night, for sure.
