99 Chapter 93
Several days passed since Wang had killed the two other disciples. Both himself and Ai had drifted deeper and deeper into the forest that seemed to never end. There was no Indication that the forest had any end point to it. Wang even climbed his way to the top of one of the trees, gazing out in all directions. However there was nothing. Only forest. Dropping down again, he moved to the youth who was currently stirring some liquid in the cauldron, not really sure what it was. "The views of the Mountains and everything else we saw isn't there. It's just a never ending view of tree tops." As he spoke, he moved to sit near Ai, however with enough distance between the two as to not disrupt what he was currently working on.
Ai let out a small hmm as he continued to stir the liquid, his gaze some what dazed while he did so. "Is it possible that each of the sections are locked in separate arrays?" he then asked, while turning his gaze to the male next to him. His expression a bit flushed. "It could be, however when we came in, there wasn't anything to hint at us being trapped in one. So more than likely it just makes the areas appear smaller than they actually are? But I'd still should of seen the peaks from up top." Wang stated as he shifted, moving to push his hand against Ai's forehead. "You are still a bit feverish. Are you sure you are okay?" he then asked.
When Ai had woken the day before, he was flushed and burning hot. Wang had worried endlessly while trying to figure out what kind of sickness a Spiritual Beast could get. However it was very hard to do so, being as he didn't really understand the makeup of Spiritual beasts. It was really hard having to watch the youth some what make something for himself to fix the fever. It was a bit touch and go, since most medications weren't really the same for Spiritual Beast as it was for Cultivators or mortals. Ai currently sniffed slightly, feeling his nose starting to stuff up. Turning his head, he let out a sneeze. I'm going to take it now. Hopefully it works. But um…If it doesn't, I'm not sure." he then stated taking some of the liquid in the pot.
Wang moved closer to the youth, his expression a bit strained as he nodded. "I still think it should be tested on another Spiritual Beast first." he said some what annoyed. His words causing Ai to struggle with a laugh. "Its not like we'll come across another Spiritual Beast that is also suffering from the same illness. Even so, Its wrong to use them to make sure I'm okay. I'd have used it on myself first even if we had." he stated before taking the cup he'd brought of his spiritual space to sip the liquid. The bitter taste washed over his tongue before he struggled to swallow it. His face paling slightly as he closed his eyes. "Not so good, very bitter." he said when he noticed Wang's panic after his eyes opened.
A deep sigh passed over Wang before he moved to lift Ai up into his arms, the youth shifting easily into his fox form as he began to sleep. The fever causing the little body to feel rather hot and the fur slick with sweat. "Don't worry and just rest. I'll keep an eye on you." he whispered while petting Ai, his expression rather low while heading back into the tent set up from before. The only thing left would to be waiting until the medication Ai made worked, or things got worse. If the later was the case, he wasn't really sure what he would do. It wasn't like he could fight an illness the way he normal fought against things.
Ai in his hazed sleep struggled to properly rest or focus. Within his mind one nightmare after another appeared. The first was Wang when he'd trapped him in this world, followed by losing his old friend and family after his rebirth, then the cave. Lastly it was the time he'd been locked away by the sect leader. He was sure that the sect leader wasn't the one who had tortured him the most. Sure it was maybe the least pleasant, but that shadowed person…The fear from that time shuddered through him, his mind unable to forget the eerie and broken voice as it spoke.
"That's because we never really left you." the whisper drifted through his sleepy mind, causing him to tremble. Wang outside was struggling to help Ai cool off as the fever was getting very high. He wasn't sure how much higher it could go, or if Ai was in danger of having his mind burned from the fever. His panic clear as he tried to cool the youth off with water, or other cooling things. The only thing he lacked was ice, due to not having the ability to control that element. He really was running out of options, and wasn't really sure what to do. Should he take Ai and try to break out of this Realm so that Elder Fei can heal him? But how could he do that?! There was to many unknown factors.
Wang's panic was only brought to a halt when a person appeared outside the entrance of the tent, a warning array ringing out as the youth moved to enter. Turning his gaze towards the entrance, Wang looked at the person with a since of annoyance as he moved to attack. However the figure before him was the male that had left after the fight. His actions rather relaxed, easily halting the in coming fist to his face. "Be careful not to randomly attack others. Its a bit rude. I'm only here to help." The person stated with a roll of the eyes. Wang's expression twitching slightly as he pulled his hand away, trying to stay between the person and Ai who was still asleep.
"I'm not stupid, I already knew what he was." the male stated his gaze moving from Wang to the curled up tiny fox. "He needs help now, or he wont make it. Are you sure you want to deny me now?" he then stated, pulling something from his spiritual space. "I'm not actually a cultivator of humans." he then stated when Wang seemed unwilling to move. His body shifted slightly, wings forming on his back. This caused Wang to pause while lowering his stance slightly, however still blocking his way. "Then what are you. And what's your purpose?" he stated.
The youth laughed before crossing his arms. "I'm a Spiritual Beast you idiot. A Vermilion Bird." he stated as if it was obvious at that point. The words only caused Wang to feel a bit lost. He'd never heard of another Spiritual Beast trying to appear human while attending a school. Clearly his expression was enough for the youth to understand his thoughts. "Well of course we don't. The Sect Leader of my sect requested me to go to keep the children safe. He never told the rest about it. Only the Elder with our group understands who I actually am." he stated rolling his eyes. "Those two idiots before only died because their target was the Divine one. Other wise I'd have had to step in to save them. Its there own faults." he stated shrugging.
Wang pressed his lips before moving slightly. Though it was a bit odd, he still didn't really have a better option. The male gave a small grin before moving passed Wang towards the fox, shifting the little body and pushing a small pill into the foxes mouth. The medication melting and easing into his body despite the miss shaped mouth. "It will be a while before he wakes, however the fever should break soon." he stated settling Ai back into the bed. "At least you guys were able to hold off some what. Though its still odd how he'd get this kind of fever.
Wang crossed his arms, moving to stand at the side of the bed, looking at Ai. "What kind of fever is it? What happened. He was fine a few days ago." he said still unsure of what had even happened to his love. The bird sighed while shaking his head. "He as having an awaking Fever. Its kind of like the Rebirth only no memory loss and no knew body. Basically his blood awakes for the second time. Its very rare. Usually it only happens when their mental ability surpasses the limitations it was under. Or by the actions of a third party." he said waving a hand.
"Since my 'partners' had passed horribly to Stupidity. I'll hang around if you don't mind. I'm very…relaxed around the Divine one. It's been a while since I had this kind of peace." he said, moving to sit down. Wang moved to sit on the edge of the bed, facing him as he narrowed his eyes. "I can't really stop you, can I?" He said after a moments thought, the male laughing as he nodded. "You are a smart one. No, you can't. I've been around for a very long time. Besides that youth asking me to leave, no one else can make me." he said shrugging.
Wang sighed while shaking his head. "Can you at least tell me your name then? If you'll be here for a while." he said. "Of Course, its Mao Xing."
Ai let out a small hmm as he continued to stir the liquid, his gaze some what dazed while he did so.
