96 Chapter 90
After Wang and Ai entered the forest, the youth swiftly shifted into his fox form. Moving to the side, the little fox glanced up at Wang before shaking his fur. Wang was left a bit confused as he stared down at the youth. Was this Ai's way of avoiding conversation with him? Wang really wasn't sure what to expect. His wish to talk and get closer to the youth was strong, however he really didn't want to throw away the only chance he had left to be with the love he had. Letting out a small sigh, Wang began to lead the way, trying to focus more on the area around them, rather then the little fluff ball walking to the side of him.
"Did you want to make a camp, or use a cave or something?" Wang asked after walking for a while, the forest life rather quiet despite the many sounds of wildlife in the distance. They hadn't come across a single spiritual beast or critter. Then again, that wasn't so odd being as Ai was in his fox form, which allowed his natural scent to be stronger. The majority of the Spiritual Beasts would avoid causing issues to him, thus they wouldn't randomly appear for no reason. Unless Ai called for them, they'd just hang around outside their space, and make sure the youth was safe. It was rather handy. Not needing to worry about randomly being attacked by spiritual beasts.
"You can make a camp." Ai stated through the mind connection, his body moving up to rest on Wang's shoulder as he snuggled his way against the larger males neck. "I'm tired, I wanna rest." he said, lightly pouting as he gave a reason for his actions. Though he had wanted to be close to Wang again, his mind would always cause him to hesitate, so this way it wasn't really him being closer right? He was just tired of walking! Nothing wrong with wanting Wang to carry him. Clearly it was only natural.
Wang held back a laugh as he gave a soft smile, nodding slightly as he steadied his pace so the youth wouldn't fall from his shoulder. His gaze moved around the vegetation around them, looking for a good place to set up a camp grounds. "There should be a water source that way, so we'll go check it out there. Should be able to find a good resting place." he stated while heading towards the area with a small gushing sound. The rushing water would be a good source for them to bath, eat and drink. So obviously finding the source would be the key point in getting a good camp site.
Pushing through the different tree branches and bushes, Wang finally found a beautiful spring. The ground was covered with small stones that were smooth and shined in the small bursts of light that filtered down from above. The water gently brushed against the edges of the pool it fell into from a small but beautiful waterfall. It was like a scene one would see in pictures of fairy-tales. Lighting bugs and butterflies floating around from the different flowers that grew in all colors. Ai lifted his head, his gaze taken in the beauty before him before he hoped down, making his way to the pool of water and peering into it. At the bottom was glow of spiritual gems. The energy they gave off causing his body to relax as he slowly stepped into the natural formed steps, resting into the water.
Wang watched Ai, his expression rather dotting like as he moved about setting up the tent. However, unlike before there was a slight change. Instead of having just the tent, outside was a second sleeping area set up near the entry way to the tent. Ai glanced over, his head tilting side ways as he watched Wang set it up before starting the fire. "What's that for? Is someone else showing up?" he asked confused. His gaze moved around, wondering if maybe he'd missed something. If there wasn't another person, why would Wang set up a second sleeping area?
Seeing his confusion, Wang wasn't really sure what to say for a while. He let out an awkward cough as he shifted to sit on the padding for the bedding. "Well, no. It's just us. But I figured you'd wish me to sleep outside the tent…" he stated, his gaze moving to the side as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I mean, we..haven't been sleeping with one another, and I didn't want to assume things so I made this for me." Wang's words were filled with embarrassment as if he weren't really sure why Ai was confused. Clearly it had been Ai that had requested them to take things slow after all.
IT took a while for Ai to process what Wang was saying, however when the words finally struck, Ai was left a bit dazed. He blushed slightly, his body moving to lower deeper into the water as he tried to hide his embarrassment. After being distracted, Ai had easily slipped back into the old habits of the times they'd spent before. He had even been looking forward to the idea of snuggling against Wang while sleeping! How could he have such thoughts?! Shouldn't he hate Wang? His own mind was really starting to cause him anxiety.
What was right, what was wrong? Who was to say that everything that happened was only bad? There was good times, just as there were things that were bad. But still, Ai didn't know what to think anymore. He wanted to be with Wang, but at the same time it was like he needed to hate him. The emotions caused him to be confused and it was really starting to mess with his mind. "I…You don't need to sleep outside." Ai finally said before paddling his way deeper into the water, trying to avoid the others gaze as he swam off.
Wang was fiddling with the blankets, trying to make things less awkward for Ai as he figured the youth would simply agree and that would be the end of it. However, when Ai had spoke again, Wang froze. His gaze moved to watch as the little fox swam off, seeming rather embarrassed about it. His expression shifted between shocked and a happy smile. It was finally starting to bare fruit? Maybe the relationship between them would some how work out after all. These feelings caused Wang to be rather glad. "Okay, I'll keep this here though, so we can sit on it after all." he stated. However he still had the idea that Ai might change his mind. He just didn't want to say it.
Ai gave a low hum in response before climbing out of the water and shaking his fir. "Lets go get food." he then stated before taking off into the forest. His natural movements causing the little foxes heart to calm some. Sure he wasn't an actual fox, but he was. The feeling of just letting his instinct take over was relaxing. The calming affect it had on his mind was more then enough. Wang had to quickly move to follow him, not wishing the youth to come to danger while wondering around the forest. Though the spiritual beasts wouldn't be a problem, that didn't mean the other sects disciples wouldn't cause any problems.
The two swiftly made their way through the forest, slowly following the sounds that range around before they managed to catch a non spiritual beast that would serve for dinner. Though it wasn't odd for Spiritual Animals to eat one another, Ai couldn't bring himself to do so. Thus finding a plan animal of the forest was the only option he had. Foxes were after all meat eaters. Wang dealt with processing and cooking the meet while Ai shifted back into his human shape, dressing and waiting to the side while relaxing. Though he wanted to remain in his fox form, it was still easier to eat with hands after all.
When they finished eating, Ai headed into the tent while blushing slightly before moving to the bed. When Wang entered, Ai had already buried himself into the bed, leaving enough space for Wang to the side, however the blankets were complete taken by Ai. Wang had to hold back a laugh as he moved to lay down, his body facing the youth who only had his face sticking out. "Be sure to sleep well, okay?" He stated while lighting moving to brush Ai's bangs out of the way. Ai blushed while nodding, his eyes closing despite being unable to sleep.
Time ticked on as Wang began to breath evenly, his body relaxed while he used one arm to rest his head, the other on his own hip. Ai bit his lower lip, opening his eyes to stare at Wang's face. His heart skipped slightly before he shifted, slowly inching closer before he could nuzzle himself against Wang's chest. When he finally made himself comfortable, Ai easily fell asleep, not realizing that the sleeping Wang had woken, moving to hug Ai lightly before giving a faint smile. When he was sure Ai was actually asleep, he himself drifted back to bed, only sweet thoughts in his mind.
