75 Chapter 69
The silence of the group stretched out, all eyes gazing at the perfectly intact cave wall. It was as if what had just happened was nothing more than a weird illusion. The bewildered expressions on those around seemed to slowly shit into one of horror. The screaming of Hing Ming and Hua rang out, filling the dead silence with an eerie ring.
Ai's expression paled a bit as he glanced up at Wang, seeing the others blank look. It was as if he hadn't just witnessed someone die right before him. However, what Ai hadn't realized was that Wang was just glad the one dead was some unknown character, rather then his lovely wife. His own reaction would be normal if this truly was the same game!
The rest of the group all began to pace about, muttering with their own panic clearly shown. Hua and Hing were both trembling while weakly sitting on the ground, their screams finally ending after one of the males had yelled at them. Regardless of what they all felt, the group soon had began to emotionally head back to the camp site. It wasn't like they could do anything else!
"We need to find a way out." Lei Yao finally stated after they had all settled back down. Wei Feng and Xhau Bing both nodded while remaining silent. Hing Ming however stuttered on, "T-there's no way we can leave! We all entered through t-that thing, what if next time it e-eats one of us?!" Clearly her state of mind was heavily damaged by what had happened.
Hua Ling wasn't much better, sitting on the side while pale faced. If she hadn't been so rude and annoying before, Ai might of felt sorry for her! Though, unwilling to feel anything for such a person as Hua, he decided to ignore it while thoughtfully sitting next to Wang. Though affected as the rest, he kept his appearance rather calm. Seemingly as unaffected as Wang was now looking.
"Clearly there Is a difference between the…whatever those were." Wang finally stated, his gaze moving to each person. "We all ended up here through those passages, thus not all of them will…." he began before pausing, his hand drifting as if implying what he meant. The rest was left with only soft nods. Surly there had to be a way out. Others had managed to leave after all!
If anything, the group was more annoyed that they rumors were so deceiving! Not only was the 'spiritual beast' not actually a beast, it was the whole cave! This clearly went against anything they had ever heard of! What kind of beast was a cave wall?! Parting to eat its pray, or move it further into its body?! This was unheard of!
Thus the group was once more at a loss. Though they knew they could some how get out, that didn't mean they would have good odds if they weren't sure which cracks would eat them, or move them. What more, who could say they wouldn't be transported further into the damn thing?
Unable to really do anything, the group was left to spend a sleepless night worried over what else would happen. There nerves were tight and no one felt the mood to sleep. If anything, they were afraid the next thing to open up and eat them, would be the floor. Thus no one wanted to test their lucks and be swallowed up while sleeping! Instead, they decided to remain together, glancing around in the dark shadows for any signs that something might happen.
The time passing by slowly was torture for each person in the group. Only a few of the stronger cultivators had find that processing their cultivation would at least help them from completely falling into madness. Those who were weaker in will would from time to time jump at the slightest movement. Causing the rest to feel their own hearts leaping as if something bad would happen at any moment.
Unknowingly, the group had spent several hours unable to completely calm themselves before they finally began to fall asleep out of exhaustion. There bodies were not fit for staying up for long periods of time, and having not slept for a little over a day should of been fine. However adding on stress and the poor environment, their bodies wanted to 'shut down' in order to correct their mental states.
After spending several hours waiting around the camp fire, Ai finally gave up with the awkward mood. Standing up, he began to head back into the tent Wang had set up. He didn't see the need to just sit about doing nothing after all. His departure caused a few of the others to also reluctantly move to their own sleeping tents. It was only Hua who was unwilling to go to her own isolated tent off to the side. Her mood clearly depressed while the rest left her alone.
Half wanting to complain, and partly unwilling as Wang had already left to follow Ai! To hateful, not only was he not even willing to remain outside to make sure nothing happens to the rest, even the other males had run off! She glanced at Hing Ming who was about to leave, debating if she should comment her thoughts to the only other female. However before she could say anything, Hing Ming had coldly departed into her own tent, not even asking if Hua would want to join her!
Clearly there was room now, the old roommate was now dead! So why did Hua still need to sleep alone? Alas, none cared for her worries. Instead they all ignored the subtle pleading gaze she was giving. Not one person even bothered to ask her if she was okay after all of this! Left with nothing else to do, Hua was forced to return to her own tent alone.
Within the Wang and Ai's tent, Ai had quickly gone into his pill making room. Using the few herbs he had left from the last time Wang had gone out, he began to process more and more pills. His cultivation steadily increasing with each batch. It didn't take long for he to get a good stock pile of them. His own mood becoming much better now that his mind was no longer wondering about the dangers around.
When Wang had entered the pill making room, Ai had been busy with his pill making. Now that his attention wasn't on the cauldron, he'd noticed Wang standing to the side, leaning against one of the pillars in the room while watching him with a soft dotting look. Blushing, Ai moved to walk over to the other. In honesty, though he'd always tried to avoid it, Ai had grown rather used to Wang's advances.
Being unable to be 'intimate with the male had started to gnaw at him. He was starting to miss the time it was just the two of them, and they didn't need to worry about anyone else doing anything stupid. Feeling his heart tighten a bit, Ai bit his lower lip as he moved to hug the larger male, resting his head against others chest.
Wang was a bit taken back due to this, his body freezing for a moment before loosely holding Ai in his embrace. It was more peaceful and relaxing this way. Though his mind had many dirty thoughts, he did enjoy just being with the other. He might be rather twisted in his attempts at 'dating' or 'courting' the person he liked. But Wang still truly did care for the smaller male. He'd just gone about the process in the wrong way.
"Sleep?" Wang then asked, rubbing Ai's back who had began to doze off. Ai nodded as he shifted, tuning into his fox form so that Wang could carry him out of the pill room and to the bed. The larger male gladly held the little thing, swiftly heading to bed and snuggling together with the small fox. Though it wasn't the same as holding Ai's human body, it still gave him a good piece of mind to sleep.
Thus after a long time of stress and nerves finally broke into a peaceful sleep for the two, the rest each having their own issues with sleep that night, but for the most part they'd all managed to get some rest. At least, all but Hua who had been unable to stop fidgeting while peeking out of her tent, glancing around whenever a sound was heard. Regardless of what it was.
Thankfully there was no other issues to come about. It was just as peaceful as it had been before the horrid death of Chu Sui.
