62 Flamel

"I've found Flamel! I told you I'd read the name somewhere before, I read it on the train coming here -- listen to this: 'Dumbledore is particularly famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, for the discovery of the twelve uses of dragon's blood, and his work on alchemy with his partner, Nicolas Flamel'!"

Casimir and Draco turned towards each other and shrugged. They both already knew who Nicolas Flamel was for some time already, having been reading the book about Immortality that Casimir's father had given as a present.

The man was on the bloody first page!

But why exactly were they trying to find out who Nicolas Flamel was? The couldn't possibly be eyeing the Philosopher's stone, could they?

Haha. Impossible, right?

Suddenly, Hermione jumped to her feet, looking very excited for some reason.

"Stay there!" She shouted and dashed off to somewhere Draco and Casimir couldn't see. Soon after, though, she came back holding onto thick books.

"I never thought to look in here!" She whispered excitedly. "I got this out of the library weeks ago for a bit of light reading."

At last she found what she was looking for.

"I knew it! I knew it!"

"Are we allowed to speak yet?" Ron grumpily said, grumbling under his breath. Hermione ignored him.

"Nicolas Flamel," She whispered dramatically, "is the only known maker of the Sorcerer's Stone!"

Draco rolled his eyes in exasperation while Casimir just snickered.

What's there to be dramatic about? Wizards could easily find out about that information with just some digging about. Well, unless they don't really know what they're looking for then they're screwed.

"The what?" Harry and Ron both asked in confusion, making Casimir knit his eyebrows.

Ah... Two more people who don't read, I guess.

At this point, Neither Casimir nor Draco knew why they were still eavesdropping anymore.

"See?" Hermione said when Harry and Ron had finished the book. "The dog must be guarding Flamel's Sorcerer's Stone! I bet he asked Dumbledore to keep it safe for him, because they're friends and he knew someone was after it, that's why he wanted the Stone moved out of Gringotts!"

"A stone that makes gold and stops you from ever dying!" said Harry. "No wonder Snape's after it! Anyone would want it."

"Professor Snape is after the Sorcerer's stone?" Draco sniggered mockingly. "He'd most likely rather coop himself up with his potions!"

"Agreed. Just what in the world are they even thinking, coming up with such an absurd conclusion?" Casimir whispered along but, he was actually inwardly confused.

That three-headed dog in the forbidden corridor was actually guarding the Sorcerer's stone? How curious.

"Let's go. Nothing more to see here, I presume." Casimir said and sneaked away silently with Draco following along. Both of them confused on what to do with the information that they had just acquired.
