54 Reverse World
Before they left the wizard city, Alexander decided that they would spend the night in another friend's house before heading out the next day. Fortunately, this time, the friend was actually expecting their arrival and no other complications happened aside from the somewhat dark morning when they had first arrived.
Speaking of the owner of the house they would be spending the night in, she was a tall and thin witch that gave off a crazed and unstable aura. If muggles were present, they would most likely comment how she was the prime example of what a stereotypical witch would look like, unaware that she might really be one.
She went by the name Verna, her surname was unknown. She lived alone in an old mansion that was passed down from her ancestors with seven cats. All of them were pitch black. Upon seeing those cats, even Noir was unnerved and constantly growled at them.
Verna led Alexander and Casimir into her mansion and, upon entering, the first thing Casimir noticed was the intense smell of herbs. Around ninety percent, this witch was either dabbling in potions, herbology, or alchemy.
Not that it was any of Casimir's business or anything...
"Long journey, lord Proulx?" Verna asked Alexander, appearing to be very close to the man.
Well, of course they would have a close relationship. The witch was the deputy leader of the Raven Covenant, a group in which Alexander presided over. The Raven Covenant was also the very same group which all information was passed to. It was the group which many people in the wizardry world both feared and respected.
"Indeed. We've been travelling all over France for the past week and a half." Alexander said with a curt nod.
"That sounds exhausting." Verna cackled and offered a questionable looking beverage. "Red tea?"
"Yes, thank you." Alexander took the cup from Verna and motioned Casimir to sit with him on the couch.
As Casimir sat, Verna finally seemed to notice his presence. "Ah! This is the widely rumored young master?"
"...Good afternoon." Although he was unsure of how to treat this strange witch, he still greeted her politely.
"My honor to meet you, young master Casimir!" Verna offered Casimir a cup of 'red tea'.
Casimir swore he saw an eyeball floating around within the cup of tea.
Suddenly, Verna began to talk to herself in a somewhat crazed manner. "The legendary descendant of Salazar Slytherin, the bearer of the prophesy of old, son of darkness... Hahaha!"
"Verna!" Alexander slammed his cup down on the table. "Where did you get those information from?!"
Hearing his shout, Verna turned sober once again, as if all of those from before was just a dream. "Where, lord Proulx? You should already be clear about that!"
Verna cackled madly. "The reverse world speaks to us!"
What? Descendant of Salazar Slytherin? Prophesy of old? Son of darkness? What is she talking about. Casimir was so confused that he couldn't pay attention to anything else.
He didn't even know when he had entered the bedroom and fell asleep. The only thing he knew was that he was suddenly inside a world which was flipped upside down.
Right now, he was currently standing on the ceiling of the city. Everything else was the same aside from the fact that he was standing upside down, the ceiling beneath his feet and the city above his head. Everyone was normally walking in the city aside from him.
"Avada Kedavra!"
He heard a shout coming from the south side of the city and, as he turned to look towards that direction, he seemed to have seen a flash of green light.
After the light faded, he saw, within a familiar shop, a man patting a young boy's shoulder with a look of approval as well as a short person's still body.
It was him and his father from this morning!
But, how is he able to view this from the ceiling?
Just as he was feeling confused, he began to hear rustling from somewhere behind him.
"It's back... It's back...!" The wind seemed to whisper, causing him to turn around in haste, trying to find where the voice came from.
"Who!... Who are you?!" Casimir looked around in every direction and found no one around him aside from the tree which now grew normally since he was standing in reverse as well.
"It's back.. It's back." The voice kept saying the same words over and over again. The only difference was, it seemed to be growing louder and more urgent.
Suddenly, the rustling sound seemed to be getting closer to him, sounding as if it was just in front of him but, there was obviously nothing there.
"It's back! It's back!! It's back!!! It's back!!!!" The whispers grew louder and louder. It grew so loud that it began to sound like someone was directly screaming into his ears now.
Casimir wanted to cover his ears but he realized somehow, his body was being restricted by something. He turned to look down and realized, during the time he was focusing on the voice, numerous appendages emerged from the ground and wrapped around his body, preventing him from escape.
Soon, the appendages began to cover most of his body, even wrapping around his mouth, preventing him from making any sounds.
"Mmf!" Casimir tried to struggle out of it but the appendages wrapped around his body so tightly that he could only tremble in place.
"It's back!!!! It's back!!!! How dare you come back!!!!" The very city seemed to be screaming at him now. "How dare you come back here, Son of Darkness???!!!"
Right before his eyes, a thick, sharp branch appeared, aiming for his head.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!!!!" Before it could pierce his head, however, everything seemed to stop, as if someone had just turned it off.
The next moment, when Casimir opened his eyes, Alexander was standing beside his bed with his wand drawn, pointed right at Casimir with a very intrigued looking Verna.
Confused, Casimir looked around the room and discovered that the window was wide open and, through it, numerous vines and tree roots spilled into the room. Some of them even wrapped around Casimir body.
Fortunately, they seemed to be withering already, most likely, Alexander used a spell against them.
So, it wasn't just a dream...
Casimir was filled with cold sweat, realizing how close he had been to dying once again. He turned back to look at Alexander and saw the man have a very dark expression, coldly staring at the vines and roots that had entered the room.
After a while of silence, Alexander finally said something.
"We need to go back. The reverse world is unstable right now."
At that moment, Verna cackled and clapped her hands. "I told you so! I told you so! Now there's no other option but to meet the rest of the covenant! Oh, goody!"
