Chapter 62: Don’t Underestimate Me Part Three

This was the pride that the people of Great Sui had. Although this vendor could get more money from this woman, he wouldn’t go back on his words after making a deal. He was a little vendor, but he had his bottom line.

“Thanks!” Fang Jie took out five silver taels from his pocket and handed them to the vendor while saying, “One silver tael is for the phoenix hairpin, and you can use the rest to buy candies for your kid.”

Fang Jie pointed at the little girl who was playing with mud behind the vendor. Although her clothes were dirty, she had a pair of big eyes and looked cute.

“Thanks.” The vendor didn’t reject the money. He packed up the phoenix hairpin and handed it to Fang Jie before saying, “This is only an imitation item; it isn’t produced by the Phoenix Terrace.”

Fang Jie nodded and replied, “Yeah, I know as soon as you spoke.”

Then, he pointed at the golden butterfly hairpin in the hair of the woman in the dark-green dress and said, “The Phoenix Terrace’s creations aren’t all in the shape of a phoenix. This butterfly hairpin in her hair is an authentic item from the Phoenix Terrace.”

The vendor looked at Fang Jie in admiration and asked, “You figured it out in one glance?”

Fang Jie shook his head and said, “Four years and three months ago, I saw her buy this in Dali of Southern Yan.”

After saying that, Fang Jie turned around and looked at Mu Xiaoyao.

Mu Xiaoyao who had many of the same red dresses looked at this woman in the dark-green dress expressionlessly. There wasn’t hostility nor hatred in her eyes; she was shockingly calm. However, Fang Jie knew that Mu Xiaoyao discovered this woman long ago, and she wasn’t as calm as she seemed.

The woman who was wearing the dark-green dress suddenly smiled at Fang Jie and said, “It seems like those two aren’t wastrels. You became a bit fatter after more than three years.”

[TL Note: In ancient times, saying someone is fat is a compliment since food was scarce, and being fat meant that the person was wealthy.]

Fang Jie shook his head with a bitter smile. “Chen Qingshan, can you not be this mean?”

-A Tea House-

Fang Jie and Chen Qingshan sat across from each other, and Da Quan pulled Mu Xiaoyao to look at the goldfish on the side.

Mu Xiaoyao didn’t want to leave, but she left after seeing Fang Jie gesturing at her and telling her to relax. She knew that this woman wouldn’t harm Fang Jie, but she was worried that Fang Jie who was carefully protected by her and Da Quan in the last three years would be taken away by this woman.

Perhaps Fang Jie was like her favorite toy, and she felt like only she could play with him.

“Although my senior sister and Da Quan aren’t great, I knew that they could protect you. However, I’m surprised that they raised you so well. Little Fang Jie, you grew so well in the last three years.”

“Grew…” Fang Jie repeated this word and then stared at Chen Qingshan’s plump chest before saying, “You as well.”

Chen Qingshan suddenly smiled charmingly and replied, “Of course. Do you want to touch me? I know that you liked to touch Senior Sister’s chest when you slept as a child, but don’t you think that mine is better?”

Fang Jie lowered his head and looked at the reflection of his slightly embarrassed face in the tea while whispering, “Oh please. We haven’t met in three years; can’t you let me get used to it first?”

Chen Qingshan sat straight at Fang Jie and raised her chest while saying gently, “Ok, I will let you get used to it at night.”

Fang Jie didn’t reply. He lowered his head and looked shy.

Seeing this, Chen Qingshan pouted and said, “Don’t act in front of me. I know what kind of a person you are better than my senior sister. At five years old, you dared to peek at me when I was bathing. How can you be shy after hearing my words? If I’m truly willing, you would have reached out your hands, right?”

Fang Jie looked up at her and replied earnestly, “I’m not shy because of you. I’m feeling bashful since I don’t know how much money I should ask from you if we sleep tonight.”

Chen Qingshan froze for a second and glared at Fang Jie forcefully.

On the street, Da Quan squatted down and watched the goldfish swim in the water tank. He sighed, “How come this demonic woman is here? This woman… If she uses her charming and coquettish abilities, Little Fang Jie might not be able to resist.”

Mu Xiaoyao smiled and said while raising her chest confidently, “Don’t underestimate Fang Jie, and also don’t underestimate me.”
