"Even if she is. She is not one such as you. She is sad. The sadness makes her do things which are--"
"Slowly killing you inside." The cat bared his teeth. "You will wake up soon and think this was all but a dream, but whatever you do don't touch the red soap that the lady in mourning will give you."
Yan Sha lolled forwards and saw she was sitting on her bed. She put her hands to her head as she tried to ground herself in reality. She reached behind her to feel the stone wall and tried to top her hands from shaking.
"It felt so real." Yan Sha said softly.
A gruff clearing of voice made her immediately scoot backwards until she hit the wall. She narrowed her eyes and looked into the darkness. Yan Sha could hear the dripping of water. It was steady and echoed, but strangely the sound she had heard, had no echo at all. The compound was built into a cave in the bottom layers, for all she knew, her room was the only one of few places that had a window.
She realized then, that the sound was coming from the central foyer from outside the room, it was the only place where such a sound was even possible to come from. Yan Sha reached under her bed and pulled out a dagger. She sheathed it inside of one of her pockets before quietly moving towards the door. Today, the mechanism had been manipulated so she could open the door from the inside. Yan Sha knew if she did the mechanism too quickly then the door would make a very loud groaning sound. She timed the clinking of every gear that the door was linked to with a drop of water from the dripping she could hear behind her. It wasn't open more than a couple centimeters when she could hear the conversation that was taking place in the foyer. She used her blanket to hide the light from her window as she looked out into the pair of two whose shadows were lit by a torch on the opposing wall. She couldn't see them, but she could hear them.
The still shadow was her teacher whose grizzled bear stood out in sharp angles to the young man who spoke with exaggerated expressions and an angry voice.
"I am heir to the throne, yet no one respects all the work that I have done to maintain thing kingdom. I work and labor to make sure my brothers have more than enough to eat, yet they sent assassins so they make take my place. I need a plan to make them fear me. I want them to kneel in a line when I ascend the throne. I need more from you. Give me the support of all three kingdoms so they know the beauty of all that which is Caiwong."

"Is that what you came a hundred miles to see me for? If it was the ramblings of a madman, I would have appreciated a message through feathers than with this. You're ruining what a fine day it is."
"I need you, teacher. I need all of the students you have in this school for kindness and killing. I know you have contacts and resources across all four kingdoms that I wish to unite."
"You wish to unite?"
"Yes, I will do the deed that my ancestors were too weak to accomplish. I will be the greatest of all kings."
"Sounds like the ravings of many mad men that I had the poor judgement in my youth to advice. You know how many cities I torched with people inside just because I thought it was for the greater good? No. You don't. Don't come to me with talks of union. There are so many empty promises I can't keep to people I used to care for."
