Every day, Bingquing and Langhua would spend every minute together. Langhua would carry Bingquing with her to court in a cloth sling wrapped around her body. Sometimes Bingquing would whisper an inconsistency or question in the courtiers reasonings that the queen had not noticed into her ear.

On the third day of this, her head was unwrapped in the presence of courtiers and there was a collective gasp among them as her shorn head's tattoo was revealed. They bowed instantly.

Langhua smiled darkly, "I have heard your snipperings, that a daughter of Caiwong has come to such prominence in Jungpi. This is no coincidence that she has been chosen by our king. She has pleaded herself to us. She had pledged herself to serve you to the best of her abilities."

One official stood, "We were all tricked by our hearts, your highness. We can see that one who has gone through great pain, must be an auspicious one. We were initially worried that the eldest daughter be made crown princess instead of the young prince. But with the addition of a third between, we understand your intentions. Jungpi, always is with you."

Langhua turned Bingquing in her lap and removed the bandages on her back. Bingquing began to raise her arms to hide her chest, but Langhua's enraged eyes made her stop. The bandages sagged before dropping completely so Langhua felt the cold air on her exposed back.

Bingquing turned and walked down the stairs, before bowing too, by the gathering of courtiers, "Mother, I live only to serve you. I live only to serve and bring greatness to Jungpi. My only dream is to expand our territory and see our flag fly over tribute lands."

The courtiers gasped and all stood and vacated the area around her.

They began to exchange glances pointed at her back.

Another of the courtiers joined the first.

"A daughter of Jungpi with the mark of the attacking lion . . . how auspicious. We cannot be more thrilled, your highness that we bear witness to such a blessing."

Bingquing as she stood was offered a mantle by a waiting maid. As she rejoined the queen, she noticed it was embroidered with a pair of twin lions and the royal emblem. Langhua settled her in her embrace and began to feed her again.

The courtiers seemed uncomfortable, but continued. They averted their eyes as Langhua put the sling back in place and held court.
