29 Dragons

Everything was bright. Too bright for her tastes.

However, she liked her amplified hearing. She could hear the birds singing, the tress swaying, and the wind howling softly. She hurriedly stood up with newfound strength and speed and rushed to the kitchen to see the small thing she heard from afar.

[I had forgotten you were out here]

[I gave you freedom and this is how you pay me! By eating all out food!]

{Ka ka ka ka. It was delicious. This noble being is satisfied with your services.}

[Noble being my as*! Get out of there! That's my mother's food!]

The small Ercan filled up his small claws and stuffed everything in his mouth as he ran.

[Food! Ah! Mom is going to be so angry.]

{Oh! You were asleep for an hour and thirty minutes. What were you doin in there? You took so long!}

[I was being productive unlike you! I was cultivating look I'm already on the fourth level!]

{Monster! You're almost catching up to me and I was born with my strength!}

[What level are you?]

{9th level}

[WHAT! I'M LAGGING BEHIND BIG TIME. YOU BIG LIAR!]

{Don't get angry. I wuv you.}

She looked at him making puppy eyes and couldn't help but soften her heart.

[Hmph. I know you're doing it on purpose!]

{Ke ke ke. But it's working.}

She hugged him and went outside.

They had a very weird relationship. Sometimes they would be nice sometimes mean and sometimes competitive with each other but throughout it all they had the comfort of knowing that they cared for each other.

[Ercan… I love you too.]

{I know…}

[Lets discover this home of mine.]

{As long as nobody catches us. Hehe}

They walked around and went to the back yard. They found two different buildings. One was a training ground ad the other was the servant's courtyard. In the middle lay a beautiful garden and a pool.

[I've never seen this before. Let's dive into the pool!]

{WAIT!}

Before he could stop her she had already jumped in and hauled him in. She was a baby and she had forgotten she had yet to learn how to swim or use her cultivation to control the water so the only result was drowning.

[I FORGOT!

I'M GONNA DIEEEE!]

{I TOLD YOU TO WAIT BUT YOU DIDN'T LISTEN!}

She quickly reached the bottom of the pool and Ercan began panicking. He shot up and disappeared.

-Long Wei-

A strange thing came up to me as I was moving into my room. It was anxious but it looked suspicious. I was about to knock it down until I saw the tear in his wing. He took my clothed and tried to pull me.

His claw accidentally scratched me before I saw it.

{Daiyu! Daiyu! Daiyu}

I could hear him think her name and saw an image of her falling to the bottom of a pool.

[Daiyu!]

I ran as fast as I could. I didn't question her small pet because all that mattered was her safety. I jumped in without a second thought and pulled her out but she didn't wake up.

I screamed her name but she couldn't hear.

-Garden-

"DAIYU!"

Someone screamed repeatedly. Sure enough, everyone ran to that voice. They saw Long Wei with Daiyu in his arms. He was desperate.

"WHAT HAPPENED?"

Fan Ying raged.

"Her pet brought me to her but she has yet to awaken. I- I ran as fast as I could but she had already reached the bottom of the pool."

Ercan laid next to the small child. His whimpers sounded out as he tried to nudge her awake with his snout. His small claws grasped her clothing and he didn't look like he would let go.

Everyone looked at the strange pet and only Fan Ying stared in shock.

"T-That's a a a Heavenly Mystical Beast. People would kill for them. Why is it with my daughter?"

No one listened to his nonsense as they all tried to focus on Daiyu. No matter what they did, it already seemed to be too late.

"YING! CALL A PHYSICIAN! DO SOMETHING!"

Nuwa Yenay screamed and put her husband out of his daze.

He disappeared and reappeared in the blink of an eye. He had within his arms a man in a white robe.

[WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS MAN]

"YOU CAN'T JUST GO AROUND KIDNAPPING PEOPLE YOU KNOW!"

"My daughter was drowning"

The man shut up at that and checked the small girl.

[So this is the legendary angel. She lives up to way above the expectations. How cute!]

He quickly checked her pulse and pulled her up. He positioned her slanted face downwards and patted her back. Soon she began coughing and spitting out a lot of water. She woke up slowly and smiled at the man.

"Thank You! I thought I was really going to die."

He stood dazed at her smile and eyes. It was too much to handle.

He put her down and waved at the parents.

They went into a room for privacy but Daiyu was just outside the door.

Long Wei stared at her from afar and watched as her eyes glinted in suspicion.

"I want to know whether you guys did anything to her body."

The physician stared at them but only confusion showed in their eyes.

"No we haven't."

"I found out something about her. She is already at level 4 in her cultivation."

Fan Daiyu listened as a long silence fell and the atmosphere dropped several degrees.

"But that's impossible. I only let her look through my cultivation books one day. She couldn't have memorized them all."

"I want to make her my disciple."

At that moment, Nuwa Yenay interfered.

"Our daughter is a genius and we are her parents but even though those are facts she has the ability to decide that herself. We have no say in this matter."

"That's fine. I will win her over."

Daiyu ran and bumped into Long Wei as she turned on a corner.

"Ouch!"

She looked up and saw the small boy smirk and pull her into the garden.

[As if I'm going to let him take my miss!]

"Come I want to show you something."

He pulled her along and dug at the ground behind a bush.

She saw a small box there. It look ancient and beautiful. She felt her heart tremble at its sight. He pulled her along into his room and locked the door. They both sat down in the floor as he opened the box.

"Look. My mother left this with me. She left a note saying it would find a person. I noticed its change when we first met. She told me to give it to that person. So here. This is for you."

It was a necklace. It had a black dragon curling around a white diamond. It was glowing and pulling towards her.

"Don't you like it?"

His heart broke at her response. She didn't reach out. She didn't move.

"No. That's no it. It's just that this is too precious!"

"It's what my mother wanted"

Seeing his insistence, she took it but the moment she touched it, it cut her. The diamond glowed and absorbed her blood. The dragon's eyes began to fill with red passion. She looked at her finger but it was already healed.

"Oh. I'm so sorry! I didn't know it would do that!"

Long Wei panicked but the moment he turned around to look for some cream a weird smile emerged on his face.

"It's okay. It healed already."

He turned and smiled before taking her back to her room.

The physician had left but that night Daiyu had another nightmare. This one was different. She saw dragons falling but she didn't cry for them. They were cruel to Ercan so she wouldn't feel anything for them except dislike. However, within her dream she saw a woman. She was beautiful but she was hated because she was just like Ercan. She was powerful but she was too kind to fight back so she escaped but in the end, Daiyu could only see one last view float into her mind. She was killed by a man who she loved so much during her weakest times. Fan Daiyu could feel her pain and woke up at night crying. She ran out into the garden and looked at the moon. It had always been there when she needed it. During her death, during her nightmares, and every night whenever she needed it.

She looked up at its brightness and mourned. She didn't know why she would cry for a stranger but she did.
