19 Trauma Episodes

The moment Fan Ying entered the room, Nuwa Yenay knew what his purpose was. She could see it in his eyes, expression, and demeanor. Everything about him screamed over protectiveness and revenge. The only explanation for such behavior would be their daughter.

Her eyes shone with equal anger and the silence of the room became stiff. She was a tigress protecting her newborn and he was Dragon protecting his treasure, his heaven. They both looked up at each other surprised to discover the newfound burning rage, love, and fierceness reflected by their gazes. As the sun fell and the room darkened, all that could be seen were two huddled up figures whispering to one another.

After flipping through books from noon to evening, Fan Daiyu had finished the last book and saw the sky darkening. Her small dazed eyes looked outside and she yawned tiredly.

[Hmmm. I might have learnt all I could about cultivation but now I'm famished and tired. Papa never came back.]

She unsteadily got back on her feet and sleepily wobbled out of the room.

She walked down the small hallway.

Now that she thought of it, the houses here were also very different and intriguing. Nothing was exactly ancient but nothing looked modern either. Everything had a unique mesh it was like its own separate universe with different ideals and had a different perspective of life. It was new and it felt refreshing to her.

The homes had no technology but still had strange objects that seemed to contain their own presence. It all felt very new to her but instead of making her afraid she only felt excitement bubbling up.

There were hallways and stairs. It was like a miniature maze but it was easy to familiarize with. The hallways were small and the rooms had doors that contained unique and beautiful drawings carved in.

She waddled down the hallway looking through every room. Usually all the doors were open since nobody wanted her to get locked in or lost in the house.

No one.

No one.

No one.

After seeing the same thing over and over again, she began doubting her own value again. She shook away her drowsiness.

[Papa left suspiciously all of a sudden. Did they abandon me? However, they left me in their house so that can't be it. Maybe they forgot me because they got tired of me so they just left me behind?]

No one.

No one.

The phrase repeated as she passed by many rooms. Her breathing increased at an alarming rate. She didn't realize that she had already passed by the room her parents were in.

She hadn't seen them in that dark corner so she continued on rushing through every room.

No one.

No one.

By the time she reached the last room in the house she was sweating and hyperventilating. Everything seemed abnormally colossus and intimidating. She could hear her own small heart ramming against her chest. She felt afraid.

She pushed the slightly opened door forward wishing for her parents to be there.

She was afraid but still looked on.

No one.

Her bright eyes that were hopeful yet desperate froze and dimmed to a terrifying extent.

The ground beneath her felt as if it had collapsed and the world around her felt as if it were slowly being swallowed whole by endless madness.

She fell on her knees and could hear her own heart shattering. It was so painful.

Her hopes, dreams, and wishes were all crushed by fate yet again.

No one.

No one.

NO ONE!

Two simple words destroyed her whole world.

For the first time since she murdered Nicolas Green, she consciously cried out loud again.

"No one! No one! No one!"

She screamed and kicked.

"Waaaah! Waaaaaah! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

The small dragon inside her had woken up from extreme pain. His heart felt as if it were being forcefully ripped to pieces. He could hear her. He could feel the suffering.

He had never felt so much pain before. Not even from himself.

It was torturous.

{Don't cry! I'm here. Even if they don't want you I will protect you. I will be here for you. We can be there for each other!}

But no matter how much he screamed, he couldn't be heard over the immense pain.

The only sound that resonated through her being was pain and sorrow.

[It was better not to hope.

I fooled myself to love again.

To live again.]

She sobbed and cried out.

Those heartbreaking screams echoed through each of the rooms until they reached her parents.

She felt abandoned and it could be heard through her cries.

"What happened! Why is she crying like that!?"

At the sound of her daughter screaming out in loneliness, Nuwa Yenay was visibly affected. Her eyes teared up and reflected her anger and worry.

Fan Ying already had an idea of what happened.

"I think the trauma has affected her in a major way. I heard her going through the rooms and saw her peeking though into this room. I thought she was just curious but she probably didn't see us and was looking for us."

"After looking through every room she probably thought we had left her behind because we didn't want her since she was told that she was strange and different."

Hearing her husband's conclusion, she burned with hatred.

Before heading to embrace her daughter, she placated her anger and sighed.

"Although our baby jade is incredibly smart, sometimes she can be a little too dumb."

She turned to face her husband but her view only revealed an empty seat imprinted with his butt. She realized that he had taken a head start to comfort baby jade and gain extra love points and attention.

She disappeared from the room and headed towards the cries. She saw her husband and was about to tease him when she noticed that something was wrong.

Fan Ying's body was frozen stiff, his back was straight, and his muscles were too tense.

She looked in the direction of his eyes and her eyes shook. The last thing she heard was her husband saying, "The problem was bigger than what we imagined" before her brain froze from shock and she felt the world stop.
